IISWBM MBA admission: check the programme before the test
IISWBM’s current admission-updates page lists applications for both the MBA (Day) and MBA-HRM for the 2027-29 batch. The two courses share some basic degree requirements, but their selection routes and application material are programme-specific. Applicants should use the Day MBA course page or MBA-HRM course page to confirm the rule for the course selected.
For the Day MBA, IISWBM’s published eligibility description accepts a three-year bachelor’s degree, a four-year honours degree, a professional degree, or an equivalent qualification from a university recognised by the University of Calcutta. It states a minimum 50% aggregate, reduced to 45% for the listed SC/ST/NC-OBC/PwD categories. MBA-HRM publishes the same qualification types and percentage thresholds. Candidates awaiting final results are included as applicants on the HRM page, but the exact conditions for provisional admission should be checked in the current course notice and University of Calcutta rules.
The programme pages describe different selection routes. The Day MBA page says IISWBM obtains CAT scores for applicants from the IIM admission committee, calls candidates above its CAT cut-off for group discussion and personal interview, and prepares the final list on merit. The HRM page likewise says selection uses CAT scores followed by GD and interview, with the final list based on merit. Neither page publishes the current 2027-29 shortlist threshold. Meeting the minimum degree percentage therefore establishes eligibility to apply, not a promise of a GD/PI call or admission.
The Day form marked for 2027-29 lists CAT, MAT, XAT, JEMAT, GATE, ATMA and CMAT registration forms “as appropriate”; the Day programme page, however, describes CAT as its selection test. The HRM form lists CAT or GMAT registration “as applicable”, while its selection page describes CAT. Treat the programme page as the stated selection rule and confirm directly with IISWBM whether the broader form fields indicate acceptable alternatives for this batch. Do not assume every listed test is accepted for every programme.
2027-29 applications are listed; verify the live deadline
At the time of this check, IISWBM’s Admission Updates page links to forms for MBA (Day) 2027-29 and MBA-HRM 2027-29. The Day application form identifies the 2027-29 session and prints 30 December 2026 as the date by which the completed form should reach the institute. The current HRM form also identifies 2027-29, but its deadline field is blank and the document only shows “December, 2026”. Applicants should check the active form or contact the relevant department before relying on the HRM date or treating the Day form date as unchanged.
The latest full calendars opened for the two programmes cover the 2026 intake, not 2027-29. For the Day MBA, IISWBM lists CAT held in November 2025, GD/PI and result on 24-25 June 2026, and course commencement in the first week of July 2026. The HRM calendar gives CAT registration dates in August-September 2025, CAT on 30 November 2025, GD/PI and final lists in March/April 2026, and commencement in the first week of July 2026. These are historical cycle dates; they help explain the previous sequence, but they do not establish the next test year, interview dates or start date.
The 2027-29 forms and current notices are more useful for action than the older calendars. Download the programme-specific form and brochure from the official application page, check whether the linked form still applies to the programme and current batch, and confirm that the submission date has not changed. If you are applying to both programmes, complete separate applications and check each course’s test requirement, fee, documents and deadline. A shared institute calendar does not mean the MBA-Day and HRM admission stages are interchangeable.
Submit the right form with the supporting records
IISWBM’s standard programme process describes two ways to apply: use the online form and payment route, or obtain a paper form from the institute reception. For applications completed online, the institute’s process page says to submit the filled form, payment proof and copies of applicable documents, and to courier or speed-post these copies to Management House, College Square West, Kolkata 700073. The form pages contain programme-specific payment instructions, so confirm the current amount and accepted mode on the live form rather than relying on a standard page’s older printed amount. Keep the payment acknowledgement with your copy of the application.
The current MBA-Day form asks applicants to attach Class X and XII marksheets, degree certificates and marksheets, proof of date of birth, the relevant entrance-test registration form, and any applicable category, disability, BPL or work-experience certificates. It also asks candidates to send a scanned form and the institute’s receipted payment counterfoil by post or drop box. The MBA-HRM form asks for school and degree records, proof of date of birth, CAT/GMAT registration as applicable, and category or disability certificates where relevant. It directs applicants to attach self-attested copies and bring originals for verification at interview. Final-year applicants are told to provide available marksheets through their last completed year or semester; check the checklist for the final documents required after results.
Before submission, compare your name, date of birth, category and academic details across the application and supporting records. Use the form’s own instructions for the qualifying-degree percentage calculation and any category certificate; do not assume a third-party category label or a different university’s equivalence rule will be accepted. Candidates whose degree is from outside the University of Calcutta should check whether a migration certificate or equivalence approval is required for their case. The 2026 selected-candidate notice required these steps for that batch, but those candidate-specific instructions are historical; obtain current instructions with the 2027-29 offer.
After the form is received, keep checking the course page and admission updates for shortlisting and interview notices. Carry original documents if called for GD/PI, and keep the application and payment receipts accessible. The official pages do not publish the 2027-29 CAT cut-off, selection weighting, interview date or a complete current document checklist in one place. Confirm those points with IISWBM before making travel or fee-payment plans.
