ISB has two current flagship application routes with different work-experience profiles. As checked on 5 November 2026, the regular PGP Class of 2028 is taking Round 2 applications; the PGP in Management for Young Leaders (PGP YL) is recruiting for Class of 2027-29. The dates are not interchangeable.
Current application deadlines
The PGP Round 1 deadline, 20 September 2026, has passed. ISB says a PGP application submitted after a deadline moves to the next round, and it will not accept Class of 2028 applications after 17 January 2027. For PGP YL, the school lists Round 1 applications as closing at 23:59 IST on 20 December and says later submissions roll to Round 2; the 15 February 2027 date is the final deadline shown for Class of 2029. Check the PGP deadlines and PGP YL deadlines again before submitting, since these are cycle-specific dates.
Which ISB route fits your work experience?
The regular PGP is a one-year, full-time residential management programme. Its current admissions page asks for at least two years of full-time work experience before enrolment. PGP YL is a 20-month, full-time residential programme designed for applicants earlier in their careers; the programme describes its work-experience range as 0-2 years.
That distinction is the clearest first filter: professionals with two or more years of full-time experience should compare the regular PGP requirements, while final-year students and applicants with less experience should check PGP YL. ISB says applicants with less than two years may apply directly to PGP YL; it has discontinued the former deferred-entry Young Leaders and Early Entry routes. This is a route comparison, not an admission prediction.
The PGP YL programme page lists Hyderabad as its campus and a 20-month duration. The regular PGP is also described as residential; use the programme-specific application and offer information for campus allocation and accommodation details.
Eligibility, tests and score cut-offs
For the regular PGP, applicants need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised institution. ISB accepts three-year undergraduate degrees and does not publish a minimum percentage or CGPA requirement. It requires a valid test-centre GMAT or GRE score; online or home-based tests are not accepted. The current requirements page says scores must be no more than five years old at the application deadline and gives these 2027-28 windows:
ISB does not state a minimum GMAT or GRE score for the regular PGP. Its FAQ says the score is one part of a broader assessment, so published class ranges or averages should not be treated as qualifying cut-offs. If the language of instruction in your undergraduate education was not English, ISB lists TOEFL or IELTS among its requirements.
PGP YL accepts GMAT, GRE or CAT according to its eligibility page, and that page says no minimum test score is required. However, it still contains CAT 2025 and score-date text for the older 2026-28 cycle, while the current deadline page is for Class of 2027-29. Do not carry the old CAT year forward as a Co29 rule. Confirm the applicable score year and validity window in the live application portal before booking or submitting a test.
What to prepare and how selection works
Both applications are submitted online through ISB’s application portal. For the PGP, prepare academic transcripts from every undergraduate and postgraduate institution attended, a complete record of full-time work experience, the required essays and recommendations, and a test score report. ISB allows an unofficial GMAT/GRE score at submission when the test was taken by the round deadline; applicants must upload the test confirmation and arrange for the official score report to be sent directly by the testing agency. Check the programme page for its current document checklist.
ISB describes selection as holistic. For the regular PGP, verified applications are reviewed across academics, test scores, work experience, extracurricular activities, essays, awards and recommendations. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed, either virtually or in person depending on the assigned schedule. ISB says its PGP interviews last about 30 minutes, are conducted by a panel, and include two on-the-spot essays. Interview notifications are sent 3-7 days before the scheduled interview. The PGP FAQ says there is no group discussion.
For PGP YL, the current application page describes an online application, verification and interview stages, with separate scholarship interviews for shortlisted applicants. Follow the current Co29 checklist rather than reusing a prior cohort’s instructions. A complete application submitted by the deadline matters: ISB says an earlier-round application that is incomplete can be evaluated in the next round once completed, but you should not treat that as an extension of the final closing date.
A short pre-submission check
- Choose the correct application: PGP Class of 2028 or PGP YL Class of 2027-29. The programmes differ in duration and experience profile.
- Verify the deadline and the test date against that programme’s current page. For the regular PGP, the next listed date is 6 December 2026. For PGP YL, it is 20 December 2026.
- For PGP YL, confirm the test-year rule in the live portal. The current Class of 2027-29 deadline page and the older cycle language on the eligibility page do not give a single clear CAT year for the new class.
- Upload complete transcripts, employment details, essays, recommendations and required score documentation. Check the official checklist for the live application.
- If shortlisted, plan for the interview and its written exercises; do not rely on a test score alone as an admission guarantee.
ISB’s application portal links current programmes and deadlines. Dates and requirements can change during a cycle, so rely on the linked programme page and portal when you are ready to apply.
