JBIMS’s International Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) profile lists a 2026 rank of 8 in “Government B-School (Overall)”. That number belongs to IIRF’s stated category and year. It is not a single rank across all Indian business-school lists, and the category label should not be treated as a legal ownership classification. The same profile contains a disagreement about another 2026 category; that value remains unresolved below.
IIRF’s latest listed position
On IIRF’s JBIMS profile, the row for “Government B-School (Overall)” shows 8 for 2026, following 6 for 2025, 19 for 2024 and 10 for 2023. IIRF is the ranking publisher for these entries. The word “overall” is part of that publisher’s category; it does not mean an overall university ranking or a position shared by every JBIMS programme.
A rank is an ordering within a particular list. This profile does not show a comparable score next to the row, so the rank alone cannot tell you the size of the gap between JBIMS and another institution. Nor does a place in this one category establish how the MMS, M.Sc. Finance or MHRD programme compares on a separate subject-specific measure. Keep the category name and edition attached whenever you reuse the figure.
A four-year series in one category
The same IIRF row gives a four-year sequence: 10th in 2023, 19th in 2024, 6th in 2025 and 8th in 2026. Read as a sequence, it moves down, then up, then down two places. The changes are not a smooth rise, and the rank difference between years is not a percentage change in quality. A rank can move when an institution’s measured performance changes, when other participants’ results change, or when the field changes; this profile does not provide enough comparable scores or participant details to separate those explanations.
These are historical publisher entries. They do not predict JBIMS’s 2027–28 position or your admission prospects. If you compare another institute, use the same IIRF category and edition rather than placing its rank in a different category beside JBIMS’s number. For a stronger comparison, consult the specific year’s ranking release and its reported score or supporting material where available. Do not infer a cause for movement from the rank sequence alone.
A conflicting 2026 state-university category
IIRF’s profile also presents “Best MBA Schools (State Govt. University).” In its year table, the 2025 value is 1, while 2024 and 2023 say “Not Listed” and the 2026 cell is a dash. Lower on the same profile, the ranking widget shows a 2026 rank of 1 under a similarly named “Best MBA Schools Under State Govt. Univers…” category. The two displays do not agree about whether the category has a 2026 value.
Because both entries appear on the publisher’s profile, this article does not select one as authoritative. It reports the table’s 2025 rank as a historical entry and leaves the 2026 state-university category rank unverified. Before citing that 2026 position, check IIRF’s dated category list or ask the publisher for the underlying release and confirm its exact title and participating set. Do not silently replace the table’s dash with the widget’s number, and do not blend this category with “Government B-School (Overall).”
A NIRF submission is not a rank
JBIMS hosts a document titled “Submitted Institute Data for NIRF’2026’ for the Management category. The cover names Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and identifier IR-M-I-1495. This is a submitted-data document, not a ranking result. Its existence does not supply a NIRF position, and no NIRF rank is asserted here from that PDF.
Use the Ministry of Education’s NIRF result pages for a NIRF rank and the corresponding IIRF list for an IIRF rank. Those frameworks are distinct publishers. A school’s submission of data, a rank on a publisher profile, and a position in a published annual result are different records; do not substitute one for another. If a NIRF figure matters to your shortlist, verify the year and category on the result page itself.
How to use the rankings in a shortlist
For JBIMS, record the source, category and year together: for example, “IIRF, Government B-School (Overall), 2026, rank 8.” Compare that only with institutions in the same category and edition. Keep the state-university category separate, and note the unresolved 2026 conflict rather than treating it as a confirmed rank. If a publisher displays a position but not the score, use the rank as a limited ordering, not as a measure of how much better one school is than another.
Ranking lists do not replace programme and admissions research. JBIMS’s full-time MMS, other full-time programmes and part-time offerings have different structures; this ranking profile is institutional and does not establish a programme-specific outcome. Use the separate admission and cutoff information for routes and dated CAP results, and the placement report for figures tied to a named cohort. Those measures have their own source periods and definitions. Recheck the ranking publisher’s latest dated release before using any historical position for a later intake.
