JSS Medical College Admission 2027–28: NEET, Eligibility and Counselling
Check the 2027–28 cycle before acting
JSS Medical College is in Mysuru and is a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER). JSS AHER is a deemed-to-be university. The college is distinct from JSS Dental College, JSS College of Pharmacy and other institutions that share the JSS name. The official JSS AHER admission page groups medical notices under MBBS, PG degree/diploma and super-speciality categories, while the separate college admissions page also hosts older merit-wise lists. Those historic lists are reference records, not a live application form.
As of 6 November 2026, the JSS AHER pages reviewed identify the 2026–27 admission cycle and contain notices for 2026. I did not find a 2027–28 JSS Medical College prospectus, MBBS counselling calendar, fee notice or programme-specific application dates in those pages. Treat the next cycle’s dates and selection rules as unannounced. Do not carry forward a 2026 deadline or assume the 2026 process will repeat unchanged. Check the JSS AHER Admissions 2026–27 portal, the JSS Medical College admissions page and the official counselling pages again when new notices appear.
MBBS: qualify NEET-UG, then follow the counselling route
For the 2026 baseline, MBBS admission was through NEET-UG. JSS AHER’s institutional status matters for the next step: the National Testing Agency’s 2026 bulletin assigns counselling for deemed-university MBBS seats to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services. An applicant should therefore plan for two linked stages: take NEET-UG, then register for the relevant MCC counselling process after the result. A college enquiry or direct contact with JSS does not replace the required counselling registration or merit-based allotment.
The practical sequence is:
- Read the current NEET-UG information bulletin and complete the NTA application with the correct identity, qualifying-examination and category details.
- Sit the examination and retain the application confirmation, admit card, scorecard and documents used for the form.
- After results, read the current MCC bulletin, registration notice, schedule and seat matrix. Confirm that the listing is for JSS Medical College, Mysuru and the correct MBBS intake before adding it to your choices.
- Register, submit and lock choices within the live schedule. Follow each round’s rules on eligibility, previous allotment, resignation and participation before changing a choice.
- If allotted, follow the exact reporting instructions and deadlines in both the MCC result and JSS AHER’s latest notice. Keep payment receipts and document acknowledgements.
The 2026 process is now historical. MCC’s schedule page has carried round changes and a special-round notice dated 2 November 2026, which illustrates why old calendars should not be reused. The 2027–28 schedule, seat matrix, category availability and any college-specific reporting conditions must be checked when published. Do not infer a seat count, quota or cutoff from another JSS institution or from a prior year’s list.
NEET-UG eligibility: use the 2026 rules only as a dated reference
The NTA Information Bulletin for NEET-UG 2026 required candidates to have reached 17 by 31 December 2026; it stated that there was no upper age limit. Its qualifying-examination rules covered Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English, subject to the bulletin’s detailed codes and documentation rules. The same bulletin set the 2026 minimum qualifying threshold at the 50th percentile for General and General-EWS candidates, 40th for SC, ST and OBC candidates, and 45th for General/EWS candidates with benchmark disabilities; the stated threshold for SC/ST/OBC candidates with benchmark disabilities was 40th percentile.
These are NEET qualification conditions for the 2026 examination, not JSS’s admission cutoff and not a guarantee of a seat. A candidate can meet the minimum qualifying percentile and still fall short of the rank needed for an allotment in a particular round, category or seat type. The cutoff page should carry the year, counselling round, category and rank basis separately. This Admission guide does not predict the 2027–28 closing rank.
The 2026 bulletin scheduled applications from 8 February to 8 March and NEET-UG on 3 May 2026. Both dates have passed. Wait for NTA’s 2027 bulletin before planning a new application; changes to the age reference date, eligibility wording, exam calendar, application fee or document requirements must come from that edition. Candidates with foreign, NRI or OCI status should also use the current NTA and MCC instructions and confirm the counselling rules that apply to their category.
PG medical and other JSS programmes use separate notices
JSS Medical College’s official admissions page lists MBBS merit lists, PG degree/diploma merit lists and super-speciality merit lists as separate groups. The lists displayed there are from older academic years, so they establish the page’s categories but do not confirm an open 2027 intake or a current admission route. JSS AHER’s central notice board separately posted a 2026 PG Medical fee and physical-reporting notice. For 2026 PG counselling, MCC’s current PG Medical page lists NEET-PG counselling materials, deemed-seat matrices and registration information. Applicants should match the exact course and JSS seat listing in the live MCC matrix, then follow the current JSS reporting notice.
Do not use the MBBS NEET-UG score or MCC UG registration for MD/MS or diploma admission. Read the current NEET-PG bulletin and PG counselling schedule for those programmes. Super-speciality study is another distinct category; confirm its exam, counselling route and JSS seat details in the relevant current notice rather than extrapolating from MD/MS. The pages reviewed do not establish a 2027–28 schedule, specialty-wise seat count or fee for these routes.
JSS AHER also lists allied-health, biomedical and other university programmes. Their application steps may differ from MBBS and clinical postgraduate counselling. Use the programme-specific notice and prospectus, and confirm the awarding institution and campus before submitting a form. A broad “Admissions 2026–27” banner is not enough to establish that a particular course is accepting applications.
Where to verify updates and what to keep
Use the NTA NEET-UG site for the examination bulletin and application notices. Use the MCC UG counselling schedule for MBBS counselling and the MCC PG Medical counselling page for current postgraduate medical notices. For JSS-specific reporting, contact details and programme announcements, use the JSS AHER official site and its Admissions page. If an aggregator, social post or older prospectus gives a different date, follow the latest notice from the responsible authority and the exact programme page.
Before paying or travelling, verify the year, course, counselling authority, allotment round, seat type and reporting deadline on the live notice. Keep the NTA and MCC registrations, choice-lock confirmation, result/allotment letter, fee receipt and JSS reporting acknowledgement together. If the 2027–28 notice is not posted, wait or contact the official admission office; a past-year fee table, merit list or counselling schedule cannot confirm a current opening.
