If you're looking for a nursing college in Hyderabad that will turn you into a highly skilled, job-ready professional through relentless, real-world hospital training, Kamineni School and College of Nursing is a serious contender. But you need to know what you're signing up for. This isn't a typical 'college life' experience. It's a disciplined, high-intensity training ground attached to a 1000-bed super-specialty hospital, where clinical exposure is unparalleled but personal freedom is severely limited. Think of it less as a campus and more as an extension of the hospital itself. For the right student—one who prioritizes skill acquisition and job security over social life—it can be a direct pipeline to a nursing career. For others, the strict regime can feel oppressive. Let's break down what this institution, established in 1996 and affiliated with Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), actually offers.
It's crucial to understand the two entities here. The Kamineni School of Nursing runs the 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma. The Kamineni College of Nursing handles the degree programs: the 4-year B.Sc Nursing, the 2-year Post Basic B.Sc for GNM holders, and the 2-year M.Sc Nursing with specializations like Medical-Surgical and Paediatric nursing.
The academic structure follows the KNRUHS calendar, which means annual exams. The faculty maintains the mandatory 1:10 ratio as per INC norms, but there's a note of caution from recent student reviews. In the 2023-24 period, several faculty members were selected for government staff nurse positions, leading to reports of a temporary staff shortage. That's something to ask about during campus visits. The principal of the college is Prof. Medisetti Geetha Srinivas.
The real academic heavyweight here isn't the classroom theory—it's the attached hospital. Every program includes extensive clinical rotations through the departments of Kamineni Hospitals. You'll see ICU, cardiology, nephrology, and more. It's a level of exposure that smaller colleges simply can't match.
This is where the college's model shows its strength and its limitations. Placements are almost entirely healthcare-focused and deeply tied to the Kamineni Group of Hospitals. They are the primary recruiter.
So, the placement story is one of strong job security within a specific ecosystem, rather than a wide array of high-paying corporate offers. If you want to work in a major Hyderabad hospital, this path is reliable.
Nursing education here is a significant investment, especially when you factor in hostel costs.
Financial aid primarily comes in the form of state government scholarships. The Reimbursement of Tuition Fee (RTF) scheme is available for SC, ST, and BC category students who gain admission through the KNRUHS convener (government) quota. It's worth checking the official KNRUHS website for the latest scholarship notifications.
The gateway depends on the program.
The application window typically opens in April-June, with a nominal fee of ₹500-1000. The key is to focus on your TS EAMCET rank for the B.Sc program. Past cutoffs aren't consistently published, but as a top private institute, the ranks required are competitive.
Let's be direct: the campus life described by students is starkly different from a typical arts or engineering college.
In short, the campus is designed for training, not for leisure. Parents often see the strictness and high security as a major positive. Students craving independence often see it as the biggest negative.
Synthesizing opinions from Reddit, Quora, and education portals reveals a clear, polarized consensus. The college is frequently labeled a "Nursing Factory."

The Grievances:
The feedback is a powerful tool for self-selection. If the positives excite you and the negatives sound manageable, you might be a good fit. If the negatives sound like deal-breakers, look elsewhere.
Kamineni Nursing is a specialist institution with a very specific value proposition. It's worth it if your primary goal is to become a clinically excellent, highly disciplined nurse with a strong likelihood of job placement in Hyderabad's corporate hospital network. The access to a 1000-bed hospital for training is a legitimate, massive advantage that translates directly to professional competence. For a student (and their parents) who prioritize this rigorous, secure career path above all else, the investment and the strict lifestyle can be justified.
However, it's probably not the right choice if you envision a balanced college experience with social events, personal freedom, and a less regimented daily life. The gap between the clinical training quality and the quality of student life is vast here. You are trading a typical "campus experience" for a professional head start. Ultimately, the decision hinges on what you value more: unparalleled hands-on skill development within a rigid system, or a more well-rounded but potentially less intensive nursing education. Visit the campus, talk to current students if you can, and weigh that trade-off carefully.
Yes, the nursing programs offered at the Kamineni School of Nursing's L.B. Nagar campus are currently open only to female candidates.
Admission to the B.Sc Nursing program is not based on NEET. Instead, it is conducted through the TS EAMCET rank and subsequent counseling by KNRUHS (Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences).
Hostel stay is not strictly mandatory, especially for local students. However, it is highly encouraged by the institution due to the demanding schedule, which includes early morning clinical shifts starting as early as 7:00 AM.
The key difference lies in the programs offered. Kamineni School of Nursing provides the 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma. Kamineni College of Nursing offers degree programs, including the 4-year B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, and M.Sc Nursing.
The clinical training is considered excellent. Students gain hands-on experience through rotations in various specialized departments of the associated Kamineni Hospitals, such as the ICU, Cardiology, and Nephrology units.
