For NIT Trichy’s 2027 intake, the programme is the first decision; the official fee schedules currently available for this review are for the 2026 admission batch. They show why one headline “annual fee” is misleading: tuition is charged each semester, other listed charges are billed in alternating semesters, and first-semester totals include one-time items. Hostel and mess payments sit in a separate account. The 2027-28 fee schedule was not established in the sources checked, so use the dated figures below as a planning reference, not as a quote for the next batch.
NIT Trichy’s 2026-27 undergraduate list includes nine eight-semester B.Tech programmes: Civil, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation and Control, Mechanical, Metallurgical and Materials, Production, and Chemical Engineering. Applicants should compare the course content and department curriculum, not just the common JEE Main route. A student who wants a design-led built-environment degree should consider the separate ten-semester B.Arch programme and check its own eligibility and rank records. The 2026 notice routes both through JEE Main-based central counselling, with JoSAA and CSAB notices and results linked from the institute.
Postgraduate choices follow different entry paths. M.Tech and M.Arch applicants use CCMT with GATE scores for eligible programmes; NIT Trichy also lists a sponsored category, which has its own institute brochure and fee schedule. M.Sc. and M.Sc. (Tech.) applicants use CCMN based on JAM, while MCA applicants follow NIMCET. MBA selection uses CAT shortlisting followed by an institute interview, with academic performance and work experience also considered in final selection. Those routes serve different academic backgrounds, so an applicant should verify the qualifying degree, subject and exam-paper fit for the intended programme before comparing prices.
This page uses the 2026 admission schedules because the official pages opened here link those as the latest readable fee documents. The tables are not 2027-28 promises. When NIT Trichy publishes new admission-batch schedules, use the new schedule for your exact programme and category; a later date on the calendar does not automatically revise the previous fee table.
The institute divides academic charges into tuition, annual fees and one-time fees. For Open/Open-EWS/OBC-NCL B.Tech entrants in the 2026 batch, tuition is ₹62,500 per semester for eight semesters. Separately, annual charges rise from ₹27,750 in the first academic year to ₹30,450, ₹33,450 and ₹36,800 in later years. They cover listed items such as computer, internet, library, examination, registration, sports, medical and insurance, festival and institute-industry activities. A one-time subtotal of ₹35,300 includes ₹9,100 in deposits explicitly marked refundable.
These are the academic schedule’s first-semester totals for the stated categories, not annual costs. They include tuition, applicable first-year annual fees and one-time fees. Later semester totals differ because annual charges recur on the schedule’s specified semesters. For example, the B.Tech schedule lists ₹62,500 for semester II, ₹92,950 for semester III and ₹95,950 for semester V; compare like semesters rather than treating one semester’s total as a recurring annual bill. The MBA schedule’s separate visiting-faculty charge is a reason not to assume two programmes with the same tuition will have the same bill.
Category changes the total substantially. In the 2026 schedules, B.Tech tuition is shown as nil for SC/ST/All-PwD categories, while applicable annual and one-time charges remain; the first-semester total listed is ₹63,050. M.Tech/M.Arch and M.Sc./M.A. schedules also show no tuition for SC/ST categories, with first-semester totals of ₹69,650. MCA follows the same first-semester figure for SC/ST. MBA’s SC/ST first-semester total is ₹95,650 because the schedule still includes a ₹30,000 visiting-faculty charge, along with other fees. Read the programme’s own row; tuition remission does not mean every charge is waived.
The 2026 B.Tech and B.Arch schedules also state income-based tuition remission for Open, Open-EWS and OBC-NCL students: full tuition remission below ₹1 lakh family income and two-thirds tuition remission for family income from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh, subject to the prescribed income certificate. This is tuition remission, not a waiver of annual charges, one-time items or hostel costs. The B.Tech fee schedule specifically asks for the parental income certificate for the preceding financial year. Check the current notice for evidence and application steps before assuming that a prior-year certificate or approval carries forward.
For newly admitted undergraduate students in the 2026-27 odd semester, the hostel notice lists ₹59,950 payable to the hostel account. It comprises a ₹3,600 non-refundable admission fee, ₹4,000 refundable caution deposit, ₹10,650 hostel establishment fee, ₹17,700 for hostel rent/licence, electricity, water and service charges, and a ₹24,000 mess advance for five months. The mess advance is not a full-year mess-cost estimate; actual later payments and the next semester’s charges must be checked separately.
Adding that hostel notice to the 2026 B.Tech Open-category first-semester academic total gives ₹1,85,500 across two separate accounts for the listed first term. This is a transparent sum of ₹1,25,550 academic fees and ₹59,950 hostel payment, not a complete annual or degree cost. It also should not be applied to every student: the hostel notice is scoped to newly admitted UG students, and postgraduate fee and accommodation schedules are separate.
The hostel notice lists how to pay through State Bank Collect and asks new UG students to submit the hostel application form and fee receipt with an Aadhaar copy. Those are 2026-27 instructions. Do not pay using a prior cycle’s payment category or date; use the current hostel notice and save the receipt for admission.
The published schedules are useful for comparing listed charges, but they do not establish one guaranteed total cost for a whole degree. For a realistic comparison, keep four lines separate: tuition per semester, annual charges and the semesters in which they recur, one-time charges and refundable deposits, and accommodation plus mess. Programme length also matters: B.Tech is eight semesters, B.Arch ten, and the listed postgraduate schedules range from four semesters for M.Tech/M.Arch, M.Sc./M.A. and MBA to six for MCA. The 2026 schedules show a ₹62,500 semester tuition for Open-category B.Tech and B.Arch, but the longer B.Arch course has more scheduled semesters. Do not multiply a single first-semester total by the course length because annual and one-time components do not recur in every semester.
Applicants choosing between technical and management programmes should also account for route-specific extras. The MBA schedule includes visiting-faculty fees in semesters I and III, while the M.Tech/M.Arch sponsored category has a different tuition row from the regular Open-category row. International DASA categories have fee amounts shown in US dollars plus rupee charges; those should not be converted into a rupee-only comparison without the applicable exchange-rate and payment rules. The schedules list these categories separately for a reason.
Before accepting a seat, open the UG fee schedule or the relevant PG fee schedule and select the document for your admission batch and category. Confirm whether deposits are refundable, which semester each annual fee is charged, and whether hostel or mess payment is included. For programme fit and entry route, use NIT Trichy’s admissions pages; for accommodation, use the current Hostels and Mess notices. The latest schedule I could verify here is for the 2026 admission batch, so treat any 2027-28 amount as unannounced until the institute posts it.
