National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli · Institute code 226. These official JEE Main Paper 1 rank-based records are a separate source from any historical database records on this page. Each row is one exact seat profile, not a single college-wide cutoff.
Showing 18 OPEN, gender-neutral profiles, selected across programme labels and quotas. The full source has 223 published profiles across 9 programme labels, including all recorded seat types, quotas and gender pools. Use the institute explorer to check the profile that applies to you. It shows up to 100 matches at a time; narrow by programme, seat type, quota or gender pool to see further matches.
Computer Science and Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology)
OS quota · Gender-neutral · Non-PwD · Round 5. This is one published reference programme and quota, not a college-wide cutoff or a branch recommendation.
CRL and category ranks are different lists; do not compare their numbers as one scale. Only recorded categories are shown. An absent row does not mean a zero cutoff or establish eligibility. For another programme, quota, the female-only pool or PwD ranks, filter this institute's full source profiles →.
Compare like-for-like rank lists: OPEN uses CRL; category and PwD ranks in the full explorer are separate lists. HS/OS use JoSAA's Class XII state code rules, not simply residential domicile.
Paper 1 programmes include engineering and integrated science/design. CSAB, B.Arch and B.Planning are excluded. Round history retains this exact programme, quota, seat type and gender pool across Rounds 1-5; an unreported round is not replaced with zero.

NIT Trichy does not have one closing rank that applies to every applicant. JoSAA publishes opening and closing ranks by round, institute, academic programme and seat type/category. A usable comparison therefore needs at least the course, round, category or seat type, and rank pool. The official JoSAA interface currently opened for this review is for the 2026-27 academic year. It includes a required filter for each of those dimensions; an unqualified number copied from a search result or a coaching chart can hide a different round, programme, quota or category.
This page does not quote a branch-specific closing rank because I did not preserve a directly reproducible result row with all its filters selected. Use the official JoSAA Opening and Closing Ranks interface to retrieve the number for the exact programme and pool you care about. The current cycle is a reference for reading the data, not a 2027-28 prediction.
JoSAA's rank labels are not interchangeable. For Open seats, opening and closing ranks represent the Common Rank List (CRL). EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST seat ranks use the corresponding category rank. PwD seat ranks use the PwD rank within the relevant category. If a displayed opening or closing rank ends with “P”, JoSAA says it comes from the Preparatory Rank List. Compare only the rank type that matches your own rank and seat category.
A practical check is to record the complete filter set before interpreting any row:
Then note the opening rank and closing rank exactly as shown. The opening number is the first allotment rank in that filtered set and the closing number is the last; neither is a universal merit cutoff. A closing rank that looks attainable in one course or round does not establish an equivalent chance in another.
JoSAA’s Opening and Closing Ranks page links the 2026 dataset, and its archive exposes historical JoSAA materials by session, including earlier rank datasets. Use the same institution, programme, seat type/category, rank pool and comparable round when looking across years. If a programme name or seat structure differs between sessions, pause before treating the rows as a trend. Record the year beside each value; a prior-year closing rank is a historical allocation outcome, not a threshold promised for the next admission cycle.
For a planning range, inspect more than one round from the same session as well as comparable previous sessions where the exact row exists. Later rounds can have different closing ranks as seats move through counselling. Keep each row separate rather than averaging unrelated categories or rounds into a synthetic “expected cutoff.” If you make a spreadsheet, include columns for session, round, programme, seat type/category, rank pool, opening rank, closing rank and official source. That makes a future comparison auditable and helps catch a CRL/category-rank mismatch.
A clean comparison sheet should retain the label JoSAA uses for the programme, including its degree duration where listed, instead of shortening every row to a branch acronym. Keep separate lines for each round and each seat type. For example, an Open-seat row is read against CRL; an OBC-NCL row is read against the OBC-NCL category rank. Do not place those two values on a single scale or claim that one category's closing rank is “better” without explaining the rank pool. If you are eligible for more than one seat type, check each valid row independently and use the applicable certificate and current eligibility rules to determine which applies to you.
When a historical row is missing, treat that as missing evidence, not as a zero cutoff or proof that the course did not admit anyone. Similarly, a row with a different programme title or category cannot fill the gap. This small discipline makes the comparison more useful than a long list of unqualified closing ranks.
An opening/closing rank records the allotment range for a particular JoSAA seat pool and round. It cannot promise what will happen in another year because the value is tied to the applicant pool and that year's allocation. The number also does not replace the current admission eligibility rules, programme restrictions, choice order or counselling instructions. Read the current JoSAA business rules and any NIT+ programme restrictions before finalising choices; rank history answers “what happened in that filtered row,” not “will I be admitted?”
When shortlisting, first identify the NIT Trichy programme you would genuinely accept, then collect a small set of matching historical rows. Compare only the same category and rank type, note the round, and keep a safer group of alternatives in your choice list. Recheck JoSAA's live documents and current-session notices before choice filling. The 2026 interface is for the 2026-27 session; no 2027-28 cutoff or admission outcome is established by these sources. Use the latest published figures only as dated context, and revisit the live interface when the next session's data is released.
