Start with the kind of support you need
At NIT Warangal, “scholarship” can mean a reduction or refund of institute tuition, a donor-funded award, or a government scheme administered through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). They have different eligibility rules, application windows and renewal conditions. A student should first identify the programme and support type, then follow that scheme’s current notice. Do not add two awards together in a budget until both schemes confirm that they can be combined.
For a 2027–28 entrant, the verified notices below are useful as a guide to the process, not as a promise of next year’s dates or amounts. The institute’s official notice index lists a tuition-fee remission notification for UG students for academic year 2026–27 with a due date of 20 September 2026. That deadline is past as of this check on 28 October 2026. Check the NIT Warangal Admissions notice list for any reopening or correction before relying on that cycle.
NITW undergraduate tuition-fee remission
Tuition remission is different from a cash scholarship. NIT Warangal’s 2026–27 notice index names an undergraduate remission notification, while a separate July 2026 portal notice describes the NITWAS route for UG B.Tech and B.Sc.-B.Ed. students. The listed September deadline has passed, so new applicants should not assume the portal is still accepting applications.
The institute’s 2025–26 physical-reporting instructions show how the earlier process worked: eligible B.Tech and B.Sc.-B.Ed. students seeking income-based remission were told to pay the full tuition fee first. The NITWAS remission portal was to become available after physical reporting, and any amount due would be refunded after the submitted income documents were checked and accepted. That is a dated procedure, not confirmation that every detail remains unchanged for 2026–27 or 2027–28.
The same 2025–26 instructions distinguish the four-year B.Sc.-B.Ed. programme from the five-year Integrated M.Sc. route. A candidate should read the remission notice tied to their exact programme and admission mode. Do not carry over an old income threshold, certificate format, category rule or deadline without checking the current revision. If the portal or reporting instructions ask for a family income certificate, follow the stated issuing authority, date and document format; an incorrect or incomplete document can delay verification or make the application ineligible.
NITW Endowment Fund award
The Centre for Alumni Relations issued a specific call on 3 December 2025 for financial assistance under the NITW Endowment Fund established by the B.Tech 1993–1997 batch. The notice was for B.Tech students from second year onward who were economically weaker and academically sincere. It described support of up to ₹50,000 per year for tuition and living expenses, stated a maximum limit of ₹1,00,000 per year, and excluded students receiving another government scholarship. The call listed 10 December 2025 for soft-copy submission and 15 December 2025 for the mandatory hard copy. Both dates have passed; this notice is not evidence that the award is open in 2026–27.
That example also shows why students should read the named call rather than assume there is one all-purpose NITW alumni scholarship. The institute’s Endowment Fund page describes a broader fund used for several institutional purposes, including student scholarships and awards. A fund description is not an active student application notice. Contact the office named in a new call and use that call’s form, document list, eligibility and dates.
Government scholarships through NSP
The National Scholarship Portal lists schemes by department and eligibility group. In the 2026–27 portal, the Top Class Education in College for OBC, EBC and DNT Students scheme was listed with applications open through 31 October 2026. Its official guidelines set an annual family-income ceiling of ₹2.5 lakh, require admission to a full-time prescribed course at an institution on the notified list, and limit awards to the institution’s allocated slots. The guidelines say NITs may be included, subject to the current notified-institution and slot list; admission to NIT Warangal alone does not guarantee an award.
The NSP’s 2026–27 list also shows the PM-USP Central Sector Scholarship for College and University Students as a renewal route with a student deadline of 31 October 2026. That listing does not mean a first-time applicant can use the renewal form. Check the scheme’s own current specification before applying. NSP says applicants need a One Time Registration (OTR), and its general portal guidance allows one merit-based scheme and one or more welfare-based schemes subject to each scheme’s rules. A particular award may still prohibit receiving another scholarship, so its own conditions control.
A practical application check
Before uploading anything, write down the scheme name, academic year, new or renewal status, eligible degree, family-income rule, selection basis, application deadline and institute verification deadline. Then compare each item with the official notice rather than a previous-year checklist. Keep copies of the submitted form, income and category certificates, fee receipts and portal acknowledgement, and monitor the portal for institute queries or verification status.
For the remaining 2026–27 NSP windows, the official portal lists 31 October 2026 for the schemes noted above and later November dates for verification. If you are a NITW student who may qualify, check the exact scheme today and submit only if the application window and eligibility match. For 2027–28, watch for a new NITW remission notice and the next NSP scheme calendar; the 2026 dates and 2025 endowment call do not establish a future award cycle.
