Quest Group of Institutions in Mohali is a private college that makes some big promises. It talks about a 96 LPA placement package and international pathway programs to over 55 global universities. But the reality, as you'll hear from students, is a bit more complicated. Located just off the Chandigarh–Fatehgarh Sahib Highway, it's a campus that feels accessible, about 10-15 minutes from the airport. The college, affiliated with I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, offers a standard mix of B.Tech, BBA, BCA, and MBA programs. It's AICTE-approved and touts ISO certifications for quality and environment management. The story here is one of decent infrastructure and a supportive environment, but with a significant gap between official placement claims and what many graduates actually experience. It's a place where your mileage may vary, heavily dependent on your program and your own hustle.

Courses and Academic Programs at Quest Group of Institutions

The academic portfolio is what you'd expect from a mid-sized private technical and management college. Undergraduate programs include B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, and Computer Science & Engineering. They also offer a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, which is their attempt to stay current. For non-engineering students, there's BBA, BCA, B.Com (Hons), and a few paramedical B.Sc programs like Anaesthesia and Medical Lab Sciences. At the postgraduate level, it's just MBA and M.Sc in Computer Science.

Academically, the college pushes its industry-linked curriculum and smart classrooms. They've integrated Google and Microsoft Education tools for notes and study material. The most marketed feature is their international pathway program. They claim credit transfer or study options with over 55 universities abroad, including places like the University of Fraser Valley in Canada and Nottingham Trent University in the UK. That's a decent hook for students with global aspirations, though the actual uptake and success rate of these pathways aren't detailed.

To bolster employability, they offer value-added courses through partnerships with CDAC, NIIT, Bajaj Finserv, and Expertrons. Student reviews on faculty are mixed, averaging a 3.8 out of 5. Some praise the helpfulness and dedication of teachers, while others are blunt about the quality. One review put it starkly: "The quality of teaching is not so good... there are some teachers who don't know how to teach. They just memorize the topic." So, it seems the teaching experience can be inconsistent.

Quest Group of Institutions Placements: Packages, Companies & Reality Check

This is where you need to read between the lines. The official Quest Group of Institutions website and brochures claim "100% placement support" and an average package of ₹4.5 LPA for 2025. They also highlight a highest package of ₹96 LPA. That top number is an outlier and likely refers to a single, exceptional off-campus offer. More consistent highest package figures from recent years are around ₹17-30 LPA.

The real story comes from the program-wise placement rates and student testimonials. For the 2023-2024 batch, the placement rate for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering was 45%. For Mechanical Engineering, it was 57.89%. And for Civil Engineering, it was 36.07%. Those are a far cry from 100% or even the "over 90%" sometimes mentioned. MBA placements get particularly criticized. One student review states, "There is no placement for the students of MBA... A maximum of 5% students have been placed by the college."

Recruiters who do visit include familiar names like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HCL, and Tech Mahindra, along with banks like ICICI and Axis. The college mandates internships, and about 60% of students reportedly got them at companies like Wipro and IBM. The verdict? The placement cell is active and brings companies, but the outcomes are modest and highly variable by program. For B.Tech CSE, you might land a ₹3-4 LPA offer. For other streams, especially non-engineering, you should be prepared to job-hunt independently.

Fees and Financial Aid at Quest Group of Institutions

The fee structure is relatively straightforward for a private institution. The annual tuition fee for a B.Tech or MBA program is approximately ₹87,000. The total academic fee for B.Tech for the 2026-27 session is listed between ₹1.9 lakhs to ₹3.66 lakhs, suggesting possible variations by specialization. BBA and BCA cost about ₹47,000 per year in tuition, with a total program cost around ₹93,000.

Hostel fees aren't explicitly broken out in the data, but the facility is offered on an annual basis. Reviews describe hostels as "average" to "very good" for 2-sharing rooms, with basic, average food in the mess.

On the financial aid front, the college offers several scholarships. These include standard government schemes for SC/ST students, Pragati, Saksham, and minority scholarships. They also have their own institutional scholarships based on merit, full-tuition waivers, and discounts for siblings or children of staff. It's worth contacting the admissions office directly for the latest criteria and application details.

Admissions: Eligibility, Cutoffs & Selection Process

Admissions at Quest Group are not intensely competitive in the traditional engineering entrance exam rank sense. The selection process is primarily based on past academic performance in your CBSE or PSEB 12th-grade exams. For MBA, they accept scores from exams like CMAT or SET. There doesn't appear to be a publicly available high cutoff rank or percentile; admission seems more contingent on meeting basic eligibility and seat availability.

The college does have an NRI/Management quota, as noted in AICTE documents. They also highlight a multicultural environment with students from over 15 countries, which aligns with their international pathway marketing. For the latest application windows and any fees, your best bet is to check the admissions section of their official website, as the 2025 cycle is reportedly open.

Campus, Hostels and Student Life

The campus is spread over 8-10 acres and is described as lush green. Infrastructure is generally a positive point. Classrooms are ICT-enabled, the library is fully automated with over 10,000-12,000 books and digital access to NDLI and DELNET. Labs are well-equipped, and there's an air-conditioned computer centre. The campus and hostels have Wi-Fi.

Hostel life gets mixed reviews. Separate facilities for boys and girls exist, with features like attached washrooms, 24-hour power backup, gyms, and recreation areas. But the rooms themselves are called "not that good" by some, while others find the 2-sharing setup "very good." The mess food is consistently labeled "average" or "basic and average."

Other amenities include a canteen (no AC), a Punjab National Bank ATM, and sports grounds for cricket, football, basketball, etc. The college provides its own transport bus fleet for students from nearby areas like Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. A notable negative from student reviews is the medical facility, which is described as "very poor."

Socially, the college benefits from its proximity to the Tricity area (Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula). The on-campus vibe is helped by a diverse student body from different Indian states and countries.

Student Reviews: What Quest Group of Institutions Alumni Really Think

Synthesizing feedback from platforms like CollegeDunia and Shiksha paints a clear picture of consensus and conflict.

The Good: Students repeatedly praise the supportive and caring nature of the staff and teachers. The infrastructure—smart classes, labs, Wi-Fi—is seen as a strength. Many appreciate the focus on overall development, industrial visits, and the training system for placements. The multicultural environment is also a big plus for those seeking a broader peer group.

The Not-So-Good: The most glaring disconnect is on placements. Official claims of 90-100% are heavily disputed, with many alumni citing much lower figures specific to their courses. Teaching quality is polarizing—some find lecturers talented and helpful, others find them unprepared. Hostel amenities and food are average at best. Specific infrastructure gaps, like poor medical facilities, are called out.

One review perfectly captures the pragmatic view: "The students who have more than 70% are placed. I have no idea about salary package... I think it is 2 or 3 lakhs per annum in CSE." It suggests a focus on academics can yield results, but those results are modest.

Verdict: Is Quest Group of Institutions Worth It?

Quest Group of Institutions is a classic middle-of-the-road private college. It's not a top-tier name, but it's not a complete unknown either. Its worth depends entirely on your expectations and your program of choice.

Consider it if: You are a B.Tech (especially CSE or AI/ML) student with a moderate budget, who values decent infrastructure and a supportive environment. The international pathway links are a genuine unique selling point if you're serious about pursuing them. You're a self-starter who won't rely solely on the placement cell and is okay with a likely starting package in the ₹3-4.5 LPA range.

Look elsewhere if: Your primary goal is stellar, guaranteed placements directly from campus, particularly for MBA or core engineering branches like Civil. You're seeking a highly rigorous and consistently excellent academic environment. The mixed reviews on teaching quality are a red flag for you.

Ultimately, it's an institution that provides an adequate platform. The opportunities are there—international links, company MoUs, a decent campus—but converting them into a high-flying career requires significant personal initiative. For the right student, with managed expectations, it can be a perfectly functional launchpad. For others, the gap between promise and delivery might be too wide.
