Start with the current institution notice
BASLP admission is not governed by one nationwide entrance route in the sources reviewed here. RCI sets the professional education framework and eligibility baseline, while institutions publish their own application and selection procedures. A course can use qualifying-examination merit, an institutional test, counselling, interviews or a combination when its current official notice says so. Do not assume NEET is required simply because the course has a clinical component. Do not infer an exam route from an old notice, coaching list or a model paper without verifying its year and role.
The RCI framework effective from 2024-25 sets the national eligibility baseline at 10+2 or equivalent, at least 50%, and any two or more science subjects, with relaxation governed by the relevant authority. Institutional conditions may be narrower. NISH's displayed course page gives an example: it describes Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology, a category-specific marks rule and separate merit-seat eligibility for candidates of Kerala origin. Its seat descriptions apply to NISH and the stated programme page; they are not a national seat matrix. For each institution, use the current prospectus to confirm whether the route is direct application, online entrance, university counselling or another process.
How to verify the selection route
Open the official admission page and prospectus for the exact academic session. Confirm the application opening and closing dates, eligible subject combinations, selection stages, test syllabus if applicable, seat categories, reservation rules, application fee, counselling process and reporting requirements. Check whether the application is managed by the institution, an affiliated university or a state authority. When a portal or notice uses an unfamiliar exam acronym, confirm whether it is an eligibility test, ranking test, counselling registration or merely a model paper.
AIISH's official admission page lists a 2026-27 prospectus and BASLP model question papers, including PCM and PCB papers from prior sessions. This demonstrates that applicants should consult AIISH-specific materials; it does not establish the current selection stages or cutoffs. The prospectus PDF link was listed on the official page but was not retrievable in this research session because the response exceeded the browser tool's size limit. Treat exact AIISH exam rules and dates as unverified here and use the live prospectus or admissions office before acting.
For NISH, the course page describes 28 seats, three supernumerary foreign-student seats and one seat earmarked for candidates sponsored by Lakshadweep, along with merit and second-merit categories. Seat counts and category arrangements are institution-specific and can change. The same page directs applicants to the prospectus for fees and further details; the NISH academic-documents page currently exposes older BASLP prospectuses. Applicants should obtain the current admission-year prospectus rather than use those historical documents as live rules.
Documents and application planning
Prepare the documents requested in the current notice. Commonly requested items can include Class 10 and 12 marksheets, proof of date of birth, identity document, category or disability certificates where applicable, photographs, signatures and equivalency documents for nonstandard qualifications. This is a planning checklist, not a universal official list; the institution's current instructions decide what is required, in what format and by which deadline. Make sure names and dates match across certificates and application records. If a certificate needs renewal or verification, start early enough to meet the notice's deadline.
Before submitting, compare the uploaded subject marks and category with your eligibility evidence, save the application and payment receipts, and record any confirmation number. If the process includes counselling, keep checking the official portal for document verification, choice filling, allotment, reporting and fee-payment instructions. A provisional allotment is not the same as a completed admission; follow the stated reporting steps and deadlines.
RCI recognition is an admission check
RCI advises candidates to seek admission only in institutions recognized for the relevant rehabilitation programme. Check the institution, campus, BASLP course and approval period for the cohort you plan to join. A university affiliation, a college advertisement or an older approval entry does not alone establish current recognition. RCI's regular-mode page links a list of approved institutions and current academic status, but the linked 2025 document could not be retrieved in this research pass. Obtain the current list or the exact institution's approval order before paying a nonrefundable amount.
This check has consequences after graduation. RCI says a rehabilitation qualification from an unrecognized institution is not valid for employment or practice under its candidate guidance. The RCI framework also connects the qualification to registration as an Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist in the Central Rehabilitation Register. Confirm the institution's recognition and its process for submitting graduate records; then follow the current CRR instructions yourself. Do not rely solely on a recruiter or marketing page to confirm professional registration eligibility.
Avoid cycle confusion
Admission dates, seat counts, cutoffs, exam formats and fee schedules are cycle-bound. A 2025 or 2026 notice can help explain how an institution has operated, but it cannot establish that the same route is open now. The AIISH portal currently displays 2026-27 materials; NISH's public course page includes institutional details without a clearly current prospectus date. Check for a newer official notice before making travel, payment or examination plans. If the current year’s route is not published, contact admissions and describe the exact course, campus, category and academic session in your query.
