Latest available official cutoff: June 2026
The latest completed cutoff table found in CSIR-HRDG’s official material is for Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026, held on 17 and 18 July 2026. It gives minimum cut-off percentages separately for JRF (Category 1), Assistant Professor (Category 2) and PhD-only admission eligibility (Category 3). The figures below are percentages, not raw marks. Keep subject and category aligned when comparing.
JRF (Category 1)
Assistant Professor (Category 2)
PhD-only admission eligibility (Category 3)
The June table states a minimum benchmark of 33% for General, EWS and OBC candidates, and 25% for SC, ST and PwD candidates across all three categories. It also says there is no separate cutoff for Parts A, B and C; cumulative marks across all parts are considered for the merit list. So the listed percentage is based on the combined examination score, not on clearing each part separately.
Compare the right row
First match the subject, outcome category and reservation category. For Chemical Science, the UR threshold was 62.250% for JRF, 56.025% for Assistant Professor and 46.250% for PhD-only eligibility. Those values answer three different qualification questions. Someone seeking JRF should compare with Category 1 rather than the lower PhD-only figure. Do not interpolate a missing value or transfer another category’s threshold.
The table uses “Life Science” for the June 2026 cycle. The December 2026 bulletin calls its subject Life Sciences and Bio-Technology (LS-BT). Keep the published cycle wording intact when comparing. The different label does not by itself establish that cutoffs or syllabus are interchangeable across sessions. The December bulletin reviewed for this page has not announced the December result or cutoff; June 2026 remains historical evidence only.
What a national cutoff does not decide
A minimum national cutoff is not an admissions cutoff at an individual university. The June CSIR-HRDG table sets minimum percentages for the exam’s JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD-only outcomes. It does not say a department has vacancies, that every university accepts every CSIR subject code, or that a candidate above the threshold will receive a doctoral seat. The official June result also says JRF-qualified candidates are eligible for Assistant Professor subject to UGC minimum eligibility criteria. Academic eligibility and institutional selection remain separate checks.
For the December 2026 cycle, the bulletin says Category 2 and 3 marks are valid for PhD admission for one year from result date and that universities/HEIs use 70% NET score and 30% interview or viva voce. This weighting does not make the national cutoff an offer of admission. Confirm accepted subject, category, score validity, interview process and seat availability in the institution’s own current notice.
Use cutoff history carefully
The June cutoff notice records the result declaration date as 9 September 2026; the result notice says the test was held on 17 and 18 July. “June 2026” is the session label, not the held date. When comparing past cutoffs, align subject, qualification category, reservation category and reporting basis. Otherwise, a numeric difference may reflect a changed route rather than changing competition.
For December 2026 and later sessions, wait for that cycle’s official result and cutoff documents. June 2026 is useful to understand the table format and relative distinction among qualification categories. It cannot predict a later threshold or replace an individual scorecard. Preserve the original year alongside each percentage and do not reuse the historical values as future-cycle requirements.
A candidate reading a scorecard should distinguish the result’s total percentile from the cutoff table’s minimum cut-off percentage. The December bulletin says scorecards include percentile and marks; the June cutoff PDF labels its figures as minimum cut-off percentages. They are not interchangeable units. Keep the original table heading and result category beside any number copied into a personal tracker. If comparing with a prior year, first confirm that the prior row uses the same subject, category and qualifying route. A raw marks total, a percentile rank and a minimum cutoff percentage can move differently because they describe different score properties. The June PDF also sets category minimum benchmarks of 33% for General, EWS and OBC, and 25% for SC, ST and PwD; those minima do not convert the table into an institution’s admission cutoff. For a decision about PhD selection, use the national threshold only to establish the exam qualification, then review the university’s own notice and interview process.
