December 2026 result status
The December 2026 Joint CSIR-UGC NET bulletin does not announce a result date. It says declaration of result on the NTA and CSIR-UGC NET websites will be announced later. The exam is scheduled for 19, 22 and 27 December 2026; as of the official source check on 28 October, it is still a future examination. Do not infer the result date from a previous cycle’s interval or from the calendar year.
When NTA releases the result, use the official CSIR-UGC NET portal and CSIR-HRDG announcements. The December bulletin says the scorecard will show total percentile and marks. Check the candidate’s own subject, roll number and qualification category. Category 1 is JRF plus Assistant Professor eligibility; Category 2 is Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD-admission use; Category 3 is PhD admission only. Those outcomes have different uses, so read the category printed on the scorecard instead of treating every qualifying result as the same credential.
Latest completed cycle: June 2026
The latest completed official materials reviewed here concern the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 cycle. Despite the session name, the result notice says that examination was held on 17 and 18 July 2026. The official cutoff notice records the result declaration date as 9 September 2026. Keep these dates together: “June 2026” is the cycle label, 17–18 July is when the test was held, and 9 September is the result date. The interval in that completed cycle is historical evidence, not a schedule announced for December 2026.
The June result notice lists candidates by qualification outcome and says JRF-qualified candidates are also eligible for Assistant Professor subject to the minimum eligibility criteria laid down by UGC. The accompanying cutoff document presents separate minimum percentages for JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD-only outcomes, by subject and category. It also says there is no separate cutoff for Parts A, B and C; cumulative marks across all parts are used for the merit list. The cutoff is therefore a national qualification threshold for that cycle and category, not a university admission guarantee.
For example, the June 2026 JRF threshold for Chemical Science was 62.250% for UR and 56.250% for EWS, while the Assistant Professor and PhD-only rows used different figures. A candidate should compare the correct subject, outcome and category. Do not use a JRF threshold as the PhD-only threshold or carry a June cutoff into a later cycle. The official result notice lists roll numbers; the cutoff notice explains minimum percentages and the merit-list method. They answer related but distinct questions.
How to verify and use your score
Start at the official result announcement and follow its scorecard or published-list instructions. Confirm the roll number, subject code, marks, percentile and category. Save the scorecard and notice for later applications. If a personal detail or result category appears inconsistent, follow the process and contact details in that cycle’s official notice rather than treating a third-party result summary as a correction.
Use the category to decide the next step. A Category 1 result can support JRF consideration and Assistant Professor eligibility, subject to the applicable eligibility rules and fellowship award process. Category 2 does not mean a JRF award; it supports Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD-admission use. Category 3 is PhD-admission use only. The December 2026 bulletin says Category 2 and 3 marks are valid for PhD admission for one year from the result date, and universities/HEIs use 70% NET score plus 30% interview or viva voce. This describes the NET component of that admission route; it does not promise that every institution has a seat or accepts every subject for every department. Confirm the subject mapping and admission notice with the institution.
Do not confuse a national minimum qualifying percentage with an institution’s admission cutoff. The June HRDG table gives minima for the exam’s JRF/AP/PhD categories; it does not rank every doctoral programme or reserve a university seat. Similarly, a percentile is not itself a fellowship award letter or faculty appointment. After checking the category, look for the separate fellowship, recruitment or university process that applies to that outcome.
Answer key and what remains unknown
For December 2026, the bulletin says recorded responses and answer keys will be announced later. When NTA publishes the provisional key and response sheet, follow the official challenge procedure and deadline for that cycle. The final answer key, not an unofficial coaching key, is the proper reference for the result. The specific challenge dates and any payment should be taken from the notice when issued, not guessed in advance.
The official HRDG home page was last updated 27 October 2026 in this source check and linked the December application notice plus the completed June result and cutoff. That shows which materials were available at the time; it does not establish the December result date. For any future session, retain the session and source date printed in the bulletin. A completed June result or threshold should not be reused as a December or 2027 rule.
