Aurangabad College of Engineering (ACE) is a private, self-financing institution that has carved out a specific niche in the Marathwada region. Established in 2010, it’s the practical choice for students with moderate MHT-CET scores who want a legitimate B.Tech degree without the crushing fees of Pune or Mumbai colleges. The campus, spread over 10 acres on the city's outskirts, offers a quiet, academic-focused environment. But let's be clear: this isn't the prestigious Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad (GECA). It's a different proposition entirely—a value-for-money, no-frills engineering college where outcomes depend heavily on a student's own drive, especially when it comes to landing a job.
ACE sticks to the core engineering disciplines. Its B.Tech programs follow the semester pattern of its affiliating universities, DBATU and BAMU, using a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
The intake numbers tell a story of shifting focus. For the 2024-25 academic year, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering have the highest intake at 54 seats each, followed by Civil at 36. The numbers for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Telecommunication (E&TC) are notably lower at 15 seats each, a significant drop from previous years. That suggests the college is either reallocating resources or responding to demand fluctuations. A new program in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is listed, but details on its intake and structure are still unverified.
Faculty strength is around 29-35 core members. The consensus from student reviews is a major positive: professors are accessible and supportive. Led by Principal Dr. Deepak Das Gupta, the teaching staff gets credit for being more approachable than what you might find in a massive government institute. The academic culture is described as disciplined, with strict but fair attendance rules, particularly for labs. It’s a hands-on, classroom-focused environment.
This is where you need to separate the brochure from the ground report. The college officially claims a 90% placement rate. Talking to students and scanning alumni reviews on platforms like CollegeDunia and Shiksha paints a more nuanced picture. The working figure most cite is closer to 60-70% for on-campus offers, with CSE naturally faring better than core branches like Civil or Mechanical.
The package data requires a similar reality check. The highest package touted for 2024-25 is 10 LPA. That’s an outlier. The average package bands between ₹3.5 to ₹4.5 LPA, with a median likely around ₹3 LPA. That’s a decent starting point for a tier-3 private college in this region, but it’s not transformative.
Recruiters are a mix of IT service giants and manufacturing firms. TCS, Wipro, Infosys, HCL, and Tech Mahindra are the regular IT visitors. For core engineering, companies like Titan, Yamaha, Skoda Auto, and Varroc Engineering recruit through shared pool drives with other colleges. A key point students raise: many "placements" are actually off-campus or pool campus selections. You won’t see exclusive, high-profile recruitment drives here. Internships are often with local MIDC industries in Waluj or Chikalthana, which is useful for practical exposure.
The verdict? The placement cell provides a platform, but landing a good offer requires significant self-initiative in skill-building.
This is ACE's strongest selling point. For the 2024-25 academic year, annual tuition fees range from ₹55,000 to ₹65,000 depending on the branch and student category. Over four years, you’re looking at a total tuition cost of roughly ₹2.4 to ₹2.7 lakhs.
Add to that hostel fees (₹15,000 - ₹20,000 per year) and mess charges (₹30,000 - ₹40,000 per year). Even with all costs included, the total investment is a fraction of what most metropolitan private colleges charge for a single year.
Financial aid is primarily through government schemes. Scholarships for SC, ST, OBC, VJNT, and SBC categories are processed via the Maharashtra state's MAHADBT portal. Economically Backward Class (EBC) concessions are also available. The college administration assists with the paperwork, but the schemes are state-mandated, not institutional scholarships.
Admission to ACE's B.Tech programs is centralized through the DTE Maharashtra's CAP rounds. The primary entrance exam is MHT-CET, though JEE Main scores are also accepted.
The 2024 MHT-CET cutoff percentiles for the General Home State category clearly show the hierarchy of demand:
These cutoffs are substantially lower than those for top government colleges like GECA. That’s the trade-off. You gain affordable admission with a moderate score, but you sacrifice the brand name and typically stronger peer group of a top-tier institute. The application window typically runs from June to August. As a private college, ACE also fills a portion of seats through its Management Quota.
The 10.03-acre campus is located on Naigaon Road, about 12-15 km from Aurangabad city center. The location is a double-edged sword. Students call it calm, quiet, and fresh—a good environment for studying away from city distractions. The flip side is that social life is limited. College fests are smaller in scale compared to GECA or MIT Aurangabad. The atmosphere is more academic and disciplined than "happening."
Infrastructure is adequate. The library houses over 15,200 books and subscribes to numerous journals. There are 30+ specialized labs, including a Microsoft IT Academy. Sports facilities for cricket, football, basketball, and volleyball are present. Wi-Fi is campus-wide, though hostel speeds are often described as just average.
Hostels are on-campus, with separate blocks for boys and girls. They’re basic but clean, with a capacity for about 200 students. The most consistent complaint across student reviews is about the canteen food—quality and variety are frequent pain points. For commuters, the college runs a bus service from the city.
Synthesizing feedback from CollegeDunia, Shiksha, and Quora reveals a clear consensus. The positives are consistent: approachable faculty, a peaceful campus, and exceptional value for money. Students feel the professors care and are accessible, which isn't always a given.
The negatives are just as consistent. The placement reality doesn’t fully match official claims, with many opportunities coming from shared pool drives. Canteen food is a letdown. And the social and extracurricular scene is modest.
One paraphrased student comment sums it up well: "The college is best for average students who want a good degree without the high pressure of top-tier institutes." Another adds the crucial caveat: "Don't expect Google or Amazon to come to the door; you have to work hard on your skills to get into TCS or Wipro."
ACE is a very specific, pragmatic choice. It is absolutely worth it for a student with an MHT-CET percentile in the 25-80 range (depending on the branch) who needs an affordable, AICTE-approved B.Tech degree. If your priority is minimizing educational debt while getting a degree from a college with decent infrastructure and supportive faculty, ACE makes solid financial sense. It’s a platform.
But you must go in with eyes wide open. This is not a brand-name college that will open doors on its own. The onus for a successful career outcome rests almost entirely on the student. You’ll need to leverage the quiet environment to study, use the approachable faculty for guidance, and aggressively build skills beyond the syllabus to compete in placements. If you’re a self-starter on a budget, ACE can work. If you’re looking for a vibrant campus life, a strong brand, or a placement cell that hands you a dream job, you should probably look elsewhere.
