First check whether a 2027-28 route has been announced
As of 1 November 2026, BIT Mesra’s public admission-notifications page is still showing 2026-27 material for several programmes. The page lists an “Admission Closure Notices for Academic Year 2026-27” entry with a 31 October 2026 last date and a 1 September update, and identifies results declared for the B.Tech and Integrated M.Sc. special-round process. Those entries describe the 2026-27 cycle; they do not establish that applications for the 2027-28 intake are open or that the same route will continue. BIT Mesra admission notifications
Treat the current notification page as a notice index, not as a single admissions rulebook. It lists separate application brochures for degree programmes, off-campus units, postgraduate programmes and special rounds. The campus and degree title matter: a Mesra route cannot be assumed to apply to Jaipur, Patna, Deoghar, Lalpur or Noida, and a notice for one degree cannot be used as eligibility evidence for another. The institute’s UG catalogue is helpful for identifying which campus offers a named programme, while the current admission notice determines whether that programme is included in a particular cycle. For planning in 2027-28, use the steps and thresholds below only as a guide to what the institute required in the specific 2026 notices cited here. Before paying or travelling, open the current notice for the exact campus and programme, confirm the live portal status, and save the brochure or written admissions response. Do not carry over the 2026 dates, test year, category certificate dates or application fee into a later cycle.
B.Tech and Integrated M.Sc.: JEE Main route in the 2026-27 notice
BIT’s 2026-27 special-round notice names B.Tech programmes at Mesra, Deoghar and Patna, and a smaller set at Jaipur. At Mesra it lists CSE, CSE (AIML), ECE, EEE, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Food Engineering and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Production and Industrial Engineering, and Integrated M.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics and Computing, and Quantitative Economics and Data Science. The off-campus lists differ. The notice says the special round addressed vacant seats and internal branch sliding, so the list is evidence of that round’s scope rather than an assurance of future intake or seat availability. 2026-27 B.Tech and Integrated M.Sc. notice
For this notice, applicants needed to pass Class XII or an equivalent examination with at least 60% aggregate, with a stated 5-point relaxation for SC/ST applicants, and the prescribed subject combination: Physics, Mathematics, one language, Chemistry/Biology/technical-vocational course, and one additional subject. The brochure also required candidates to have appeared in JEE Main 2026 and hold a valid Common Rank List rank. It directs candidates to satisfy the other JoSAA/CSAB 2026 business rules as well. These are notice-specific requirements; the current year’s brochure and counselling rules control any later application. Eligibility clauses in the 2026-27 notice
The same brochure says provisional selections for B.Tech and Integrated M.Sc. would be based on a combined merit list using JEE Main 2026 CRL rank, including both fresh applicants and eligible students seeking internal branch sliding. It also states special reservation for girls across programmes. The notice does not make a general cutoff threshold part of this description: seat allocation depends on the specific round, programme, campus, category and applicable counselling rules. Use JoSAA or CSAB’s official opening and closing rank data for a rank comparison, and keep that distinct from the institute’s special-round selection notice. Selection procedure · JoSAA 2026 portal
The 2026 special-round dates are historical. The institute listed applications opening on 19 August, a 22 August application deadline, results on 24 and 26 August, fee-payment deadlines on 25 and 27 August, and physical reporting on 28 August. Later Deoghar-only special-round windows were also listed for 28-31 August and 4-6 September. These dates have passed; do not infer the 2027-28 application status from them. The admissions index and live ERP portal should be checked for the next official notice. Dates in the 2026-27 notice
Biotechnology has a separate 2026 notice using NEET-UG
The institute published a separate 2026-2030 B.Tech Biotechnology notice for the Mesra campus. It required a valid NEET-UG 2026 score and Class XII with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology, with at least 60% marks or 55% for SC/ST/PwD applicants. This differs from the JEE Main eligibility described in the general B.Tech and Integrated M.Sc. special-round brochure. Applicants should not assume that one test route applies to every B.Tech branch. B.Tech Biotechnology admission notice
There is an internal wording conflict in that Biotechnology notice: the eligibility section says NEET-UG 2026 is required, while the selection procedure refers to merit from NEET-UG or ICAR AIEEA (UG) 2026. The document does not explain how those statements interact. If you are considering this programme, ask the admissions office which score is accepted for your category and keep the written response. Do not treat the mention of ICAR as proof that it overrides the NEET eligibility clause.
The same notice displayed an online application window from 15 to 31 July 2026 and a special-round window from 6 to 9 August. It marks its dates as tentative and subject to change; those windows are now past. The notice listed application charges of ₹1,500 for General/OBC-NCL/General-EWS and ₹1,000 for SC/ST, payable online and non-refundable. These are historical 2026 terms, not a current fee quote. Fresh application and internal branch sliding are different processes
For the 2026 special round, the institute directed fresh applicants to submit an online application for the selected campus and programme. It required a separate form and fee for every campus and programme, told B.Tech applicants to provide at least three programme preferences, and said the fresh-application fee was ₹1,500 for General/EWS or ₹1,000 for SC/ST. The fee was non-refundable. The same notice said candidates admitted through JoSAA/CSAB who sought internal branch sliding did not need a fresh ERP registration and paid no application fee for that process. These distinctions matter before payment: check whether you are applying as a new candidate or requesting a permitted slide within your existing degree. Fresh and sliding application instructions
The 2026 notice limited internal branch sliding to the same degree programme. It says a student admitted to one degree but seeking another, such as moving from Integrated M.Sc. or B.Arch. to B.Tech., must apply as a fresh applicant; the sliding process does not convert one degree into another. The brochure also directs existing JoSAA/CSAB students to select the form for the campus at which they were admitted. This rule is specific to the published process, so confirm any future internal upgrade instructions with the current brochure.
For physical document verification under that round, BIT listed Class X proof of date of birth and name, Class XII admit card/certificate/marksheet, JEE Main admit card and scorecard, an Academic Bank of Credits ID, payment proof, and applicable category certificates. The Biotechnology notice separately lists NEET-UG/ICAR score documents and asks candidates to produce originals and photocopies. Check the exact programme checklist because the relevant entrance-score document and certificate rules differ by route. 2026-27 reporting documents · Biotechnology reporting documents
A provisional selection is not the last administrative step. The special-round notice says institute roll numbers follow physical document verification, and first-semester registration is completed through the institute ERP at reporting. It lists hostel-room allocation and a mess advance at physical reporting for that 2026 intake. The admission portal also links reporting guidance and closure/result notices. Before making travel or housing arrangements, verify the current reporting date, allotted campus, originals required, payment deadline and room-allotment process in the actual offer and current institute notice. Practical checks before you submit
- Match the exact programme and campus across the offer, entrance score, form and payment demand.
- Check whether the current notice requires JEE Main, NEET-UG, another score or counselling eligibility; do not infer a common route from the BIT name.
- Confirm aggregate marks, subject combination, category certificate format and issue date against that year’s brochure.
- Separate fresh application from internal branch sliding and verify whether a separate form or payment applies.
- Download the official result, preserve the application ID and payment receipt, and ask admissions to resolve any conflicting selection instructions in writing.
- Use only a current reporting checklist. Do not rely on the expired dates or document-validity dates printed in a 2026 brochure for the next intake.
