Start with the admission pool
DAU’s 2026-27 B.Tech notices describe two distinct routes: All India category admission and Gujarat category admission through the state counselling process. The published cycle is closed. An applicant for 2027-28 should use these pages to understand the previous process only, then wait for the next official notice before relying on its dates, eligibility wording, seat matrix, application fee or selection rules. The institute is now branded Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAU), while many older records and references say DA-IICT; check that each notice belongs to this same Gandhinagar institution. The first decision is which pool applies to you. The All India route used JEE Main All India Rank in 2026-27 and had its own application portal and merit process. The Gujarat notice points registered candidates to ACPC and refers to ACPC State Rank. Do not substitute GUJCET marks for a JEE Main rank in the All India process, or assume that an All India seat count and a Gujarat seat count form one common pool. Read the category-specific notice and the relevant ACPC rules before submitting an application.
Programmes and the 2026-27 seat list
The 2026-27 All India notice listed six B.Tech programmes and 312 seats in total: ICT (72), ICT Honours with a minor in Computational Science (54), Mathematics and Computing (54), Electronics and VLSI Design (24), Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (72), and Electronics and Communication Engineering – Artificial Intelligence (36). The totals add to 312. The Gujarat-category notice separately listed 129 places: 30, 22, 22, 10, 30 and 15 respectively. Those figures also sum to 129. These are the published allocations for that cycle, not a promise that 2027-28 will use the same intake or split.
Use the programme brochure linked from the admissions page to compare curriculum and degree structure before ordering preferences. Programme labels can conceal different course emphases: ICT spans digital information systems and communications; MnC combines mathematics and computing; EVD focuses on electronics and VLSI; CS and AI and ECE-AI have distinct computer science, electronics and AI combinations. Verify the actual course plan, award title, duration, elective choices and any continuation or transfer conditions in the current brochure. The seat table alone cannot tell you which programme is the right fit.
The FAQ says applicants choose programme preferences in one application. Treat preference order carefully: confirm how the new cycle’s merit/allotment process uses those choices and whether accepting one offer affects waitlisting for another. Do not copy preference instructions from another university’s counselling system.
Eligibility and documents
For the 2026-27 All India route, DAU required applicants to have passed 10+2 or an equivalent qualifying examination with Mathematics, Physics and at least one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Biology. The notice refers to the minimum percentage prescribed by AICTE from time to time; it does not make a separate fixed percentage the basis used here. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2026 could apply provisionally, but had to submit proof of passing by 30 October 2026 or the provisional admission could be cancelled. This is a dated rule. Check the next notice for its eligible examination year, subject combination, marks condition, certificate deadline and treatment of provisional results.
The university’s 2026 FAQ says the date of birth recorded on the relevant Class 10 or 12 board certificate is used as the age record and asks for the original certificate at counselling. It also says an applicant who had not yet received a JEE Main rank card could upload available JEE participation documentation and provide the final result later. These are operational instructions for that portal cycle, not standing assurances for a future application. Do not assume that a different document or an unofficial correction will be accepted.
Before you begin, keep the correct JEE Main result/admit card or ACPC records, Class 10 and 12 documents, category and domicile proofs where relevant, and a working email address and phone number ready. The exact upload list should come from the live application page. Make sure names, dates of birth and category details are consistent across records; the admission notice says information is subject to verification against original documents and that an ineligible admission may be cancelled.
Selection, counselling and 2026 dates
For the 2026-27 All India pool, selection was based on JEE Main 2026 All India Rank. DAU’s notice says shortlisted applicants were offered confirmed or waitlisted status in merit order and that counselling was online. It explicitly rejected direct All India B.Tech admission based only on Class 12 marks. The first merit list was scheduled for 2 July 2026; the first-round payment window was 2–8 July; admission status was scheduled for 10 or 13 July; document verification at campus for confirmed candidates was 1 August; orientation was 3–7 August; and classes were due to start 10 August. The online application opened 24 March and closed 22 June 2026. This calendar is over and must not be presented as a 2027 schedule.
For the Gujarat pool, the university’s vacant-seat notice directs registered ACPC candidates to the state process and says merit is based on ACPC State Rank. Follow ACPC’s current registration, choice filling, allotment, reporting and fee instructions as well as any DAU-specific notice. A seat shown in a university table does not guarantee availability at a later round; vacancies and category rules can change as counselling progresses.
When a future merit or allotment result is published, use the official portal and email instructions. Check each deadline, amount, refund rule, document requirement and reporting mode. Save the allotment letter, payment confirmation and any request for additional records. If the portal status and the written notice differ, seek clarification from DAU or ACPC through their published contacts before the deadline, and retain the response.
Application costs and how to prepare for the next cycle
The 2026-27 All India application fee was ₹1,500 plus 18% GST, or ₹1,770 total, and was non-refundable according to the notice. Do not pay against an old link or assume that the fee is unchanged for 2027-28. The university’s FAQ says there was no offline application route for that B.Tech process. Use the official admissions page to locate a live portal, confirm that the notice applies to your category and save a copy of the instructions before paying.
The notice also states that 2026 applicants appearing for the qualifying examination could be considered provisionally, subject to later proof by the specified deadline. Provisional status is conditional; it is not a waiver of the qualifying examination. Applicants should avoid booking travel or making non-refundable arrangements until their offer and reporting instructions are confirmed.
At the time of this review, the captured 2026-27 All India and Gujarat pages say the B.Tech intake is closed, and no 2027-28 B.Tech admission dates or seat allocation are established by those documents. The practical plan is to monitor DAU’s official admissions directory, open the new cycle’s category notice as soon as it appears, and confirm the applicable JEE Main year or ACPC cycle, eligibility, programme preferences, seat counts, application fee and deadlines. Until then, 2026 figures are historical guidance, not current promises. See the official B.Tech FAQ for answers tied to the 2026 process; recheck its date and linked admissions notice before applying.
