IBS Kolkata Admission 2027-29: eligibility, tests and application steps
ICFAI Business School lists admissions for its MBA and PGPM programmes for the 2027-29 academic batch. The current admissions page gives the application period as 1 July to 22 December 2026 and identifies IBSAT 2026 as the institute’s test route. Applicants may also apply with valid GMAT, CAT, NMAT by GMAC or XAT scores from 2024 onward, according to the FAQ. IBS Kolkata offers the two-year full-time PGPM; the institution distinguishes that programme from MBA programmes at some other campuses. Confirm the programme and campus shown on your own application, especially if the credential name matters to an employer, a later degree application or a scholarship provider.
This guide reflects the official IBS admissions, FAQ and Kolkata campus pages captured for the 2027-29 intake. Dates and test instructions can change during an admissions cycle. Recheck the live portal and candidate account before paying, travelling or relying on a tentative date. The institute marks its later briefing and selection dates tentative; treat them as planning indicators rather than confirmed appointments.
Application form and fee
IBS describes one common IBSAT 2026 application and bulletin for MBA and PGPM admissions across nine campuses: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. The admissions page says applicants can apply online or purchase the form through a marketing office. The stated application cost is ₹1,800. Before paying, verify that the page and payment destination are official, save the transaction record and retain a copy of the completed application.
For the online route, IBS instructs applicants to enter personal and contact details, proceed to a payment page and expect a confirmation email after payment. The institution says a hard copy of the bulletin will be sent within one week. For the office route, it says the bulletin is available at marketing offices and that applicants can pay the application fee in cash. These are the options described on the current page; the source does not provide a complete checklist of every document that each applicant must upload. Follow the current form instructions for document format and submission, and contact IBS if your academic record requires a special explanation.
The published application window is 1 July through 22 December 2026. IBSAT’s paired-date timetable also lists an application deadline for each test pair: 1 December for Tests 1 and 2, 8 December for Tests 3 and 4, 15 December for Tests 5 and 6, and 22 December for Tests 7 and 8. The final pair’s listed deadline coincides with the end of the overall application period. Do not assume an incomplete form or payment will reserve a slot. Apply in time to resolve access or payment problems, and check that Kolkata is selected if Kolkata PGPM is your intended programme.
The FAQ identifies IBSAT as the common entrance test for IBS programmes. The admissions page describes a common application across the nine MBA/PGPM campuses. That common form does not mean every campus offers the same credential: the official FAQ distinguishes the MBA campuses from those offering PGPM. Check the exact programme name on the application and later on any offer letter. A generic IBS heading is not enough to establish which campus or credential you selected.
Eligibility checklist
For its two-year full-time management programmes, IBS states a baseline of graduation in any discipline with at least 50% marks, English as the medium of instruction and a minimum of 15 years of education on a 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern. These requirements work together. A percentage above the stated minimum does not resolve the duration or medium-of-instruction criteria. Check your university transcript and degree records before applying, particularly if the course used a different calendar, you transferred credits or your transcript does not show the language of instruction.
Applicants whose graduation does not meet the English-medium condition must submit TOEFL, NELT or IELTS scores by 31 May 2027, according to the admissions page. That page names the tests but does not give a minimum qualifying score in the captured notice. Do not assume that a score accepted by another school, or an old IBS document, is enough. Ask the admissions office which score report and minimum apply to your circumstances, and leave sufficient time for the official result to be submitted by the stated deadline.
Final-year bachelor’s students may apply. IBS says they must complete graduation requirements, including practical examinations, viva, assignments and other requirements, before 31 May 2027. The institute says admission remains provisional until marksheets and degree certificates establish eligibility, and gives 1 November 2027 as the last date to submit proof of graduation. It also says it will begin checking eligibility from August 2027. For a final-year candidate, completion of coursework and submission of proof are separate milestones. Do not interpret provisional admission as confirmation that late results or pending practical requirements will be accepted. If a university exam, viva or final assignment is scheduled close to the deadline, ask IBS in writing how the requirement applies.
A useful self-check is to list your degree, expected completion date, percentage or grade, total years of education and medium of instruction. Then identify evidence for each item. If your transcript uses a grading scale rather than a percentage, the captured notice does not explain a conversion method; request an official answer rather than guessing. If the medium statement is absent, ask what documentation IBS will accept or whether one of the named English tests is required. If you are in your final year, record the 31 May completion date and 1 November proof date separately in your calendar.
Choose an accepted test route
For 2027-29 admissions, IBS lists IBSAT 2026 or valid GMAT, CAT, NMAT by GMAC or XAT scores from 2024 onward. The exact score year matters: a test taken before 2024 is not included in the range stated on the FAQ page. The captured pages do not give a current Kolkata percentile cutoff for admission through those tests. Do not use scholarship thresholds, historical applicant reports or another campus’s requirements as a substitute for an admission cutoff. Confirm score validity and the method for submitting the official result before treating an alternate test as your route.
The IBSAT 2026 schedule lists eight dates in December: 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 December. The page describes the test as remote-proctored online and lists two slots on each date, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. It gives four paired application deadlines: 1 December for the first weekend pair, then 8, 15 and 22 December for the remaining pairs. The page says results for each Saturday-Sunday pair will be announced on the following Monday: 7, 14, 21 and 28 December, respectively. This is the published schedule, not a guarantee of a specific result release time.
Select a test date and slot that fit your own schedule, then use the candidate account for the assigned test link and instructions. The captured admissions page describes remote proctoring but does not set out the full technical checklist. Confirm the current requirements for device, browser, identification, room setup, connectivity and rescheduling from the official candidate communication. Do not rely on a forwarded screenshot or an unofficial test link. If the slot you selected does not appear in your account, resolve that before the test date.
Candidates using GMAT, CAT, NMAT or XAT should follow the current instructions for submitting official scores. IBS says scholarship announcements linked to these national tests will be made after official scores are submitted, in January 2027. This is an announcement period, not a scholarship guarantee. First confirm that your exam and score year qualify for admission; separately check the scholarship notice for award criteria, documents and submission dates.
Selection stages and timing
IBS says its final selection decision considers past academic record, a Micro Presentation and a Personal Interview. The captured admissions page does not publish a numeric weighting formula, a guaranteed score threshold or a detailed Kolkata-specific interview rubric. Applicants can prepare to explain their academic choices, experiences and reasons for seeking management education, but should not treat coaching-provider advice as a confirmed institute scoring rule. Check any candidate briefing for current format and evaluation instructions.
The admissions page marks selection briefings as expected during January 2027 and the selection process during the second to third week of February 2027. Both are labelled tentative. It places the selection process at the IBS Hyderabad campus. The source does not confirm whether every candidate must travel, whether any stage can be completed remotely or whether the venue could change. Wait for your own invitation and confirm the venue, reporting time, identification, supporting documents and any travel requirement before making arrangements. A tentative month is not an appointment.
The campus location matters even when Kolkata is the intended programme. Ask whether your invitation applies to the Hyderabad process and what the institute will accept as proof of eligibility. Candidates should keep their submitted application, score reports, academic records, payment confirmation and official messages together so that any discrepancy can be resolved. These are practical records to retain; the captured public page does not describe a complete candidate-specific document pack.
Before accepting an offer, check the programme and campus name, response deadline, fee amount, instalment dates, refund terms and any provisional conditions. The 2027-29 admissions page gives a general annual PGPM fee reference, but the captured information does not provide a final Kolkata fee invoice for the incoming batch. Request the written 2027-29 fee schedule before paying an admission instalment. Keep any historical cohort fee reference separate from the amount stated in your current offer.
Use official channels and avoid guaranteed-admission claims
The IBS Kolkata campus page warns applicants that the institution does not have agents and that admission is merit-based. It says canvassing can lead to disqualification and cautions against people promising guaranteed admission for a fee. Do not pay a third party for an assured seat, give away your application password or rely on a promise that conflicts with the official selection process. If an intermediary asks for an additional registration payment or guarantees a campus, verify the request directly with IBS through its official website contacts.
This warning applies alongside the two application methods described by IBS: online and through a marketing office. Retain proof of any payment made under the published instructions. A payment confirmation shows an application step, not an admission offer. The stated selection process remains in force. When a forwarded message conflicts with the admissions page, ask the institute to confirm the current rule in writing before acting.
Calendar for a 2027-29 applicant
Use the official schedule as a sequence of checks. First, test your eligibility against degree level, percentage, education duration and language of instruction. If you need TOEFL, NELT or IELTS, note the 31 May 2027 deadline. If you are completing your bachelor’s degree, confirm that all requirements can be completed before that date and track the separate 1 November 2027 proof deadline. Next, submit the common application during the stated 1 July to 22 December 2026 window, select your intended campus and save the form and payment record.
If taking IBSAT, choose a date pair and match its listed application deadline. Confirm your assigned slot and current remote-proctor instructions in the candidate portal. If using GMAT, CAT, NMAT or XAT, verify that the score is from 2024 onward and follow the official score-submission instructions. After the test or score submission, monitor official channels for results, scholarship announcements and selection instructions. Treat the January briefing and February process timing as tentative until the institute confirms your appointment and venue.
Before travelling, confirm whether your invitation requires attendance in Hyderabad and what documents to bring. Before accepting an offer, verify that the letter names IBS Kolkata’s PGPM if that is the intended programme, and request the final batch-specific fee and refund terms. The published admissions pages leave the exact final fee schedule and detailed selection rubric open, so those details should be confirmed from the institute rather than inferred from another campus or earlier intake.
What the published notice does not settle
The captured IBS pages provide a usable starting point for the current application cycle: dates, general eligibility, accepted entrance tests, the IBSAT timetable and the broad selection components. They do not establish a numeric Kolkata admission cutoff, the detailed scoring formula, every applicant’s document checklist, confirmed interview dates, the final 2027-29 Kolkata fee schedule or a guaranteed scholarship. These are specific questions to ask IBS. They should not be filled with a number copied from a different campus, a previous batch or an unofficial source.
Credential identity is also part of the admission decision. IBS describes Kolkata as a two-year full-time PGPM campus, while its FAQ lists MBA programmes at other campuses. The common application uses MBA/PGPM language because it covers multiple campuses. Confirm the exact campus and programme on your submitted form and offer letter. If an employer, regulator, doctoral programme or scholarship provider requires a particular degree, ask that organization whether the Kolkata PGPM satisfies its rule before making a financial commitment.
