Scholarship information for IIM Raipur PGP students
IIM Raipur’s PGP Manual for 2023–25 names two government scholarship routes for students in that cohort: the Top Class Education Scheme for SC students, and the National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST students (described in the manual as the scholarship formerly called Top-Class Education for Schedule Tribe students). The manual directs students to the National Scholarship Portal for eligibility, application instructions and required documents. This is evidence that the institute’s PGP manual identified those schemes for the 2023–25 batch; it is not a confirmation that every current PGP student qualifies or that funding has been approved for a later intake.
The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment’s current Top Class Education scheme page for SC students says the scheme supports education beyond Class XII and operates only in institutions empanelled by the Ministry. It links to 2026–27 guidelines. An applicant must read the applicable scheme guidelines and confirm that the exact institute and course appear in the current eligible list. The older IIM Raipur manual alone cannot establish current empanelment, the number of awards available, the application window or the award amount for a future cohort.
The institute’s manual also says students should consult the National Scholarship Portal for the ST scheme’s eligibility, application and documents. The national scheme name and rules can change, so students should use the current government notice rather than relying on an older label in the 2023–25 manual. Category status by itself does not establish entitlement: the live scheme may apply income, course, institution, merit, renewal or other conditions, and the student must satisfy the rules for that year.
What is not confirmed as an MBA scholarship
The institute’s separate Financial Assistance page describes monthly support and fee waivers for full-time research scholars. It is a research-programme support page, not evidence of a monthly stipend or universal scholarship for MBA students. Applicants should not include PhD support in an MBA budget unless the institute publishes a policy that explicitly covers their programme and cohort.
The reviewed PGP material does not establish a current institute-wide merit scholarship amount for the flagship MBA, an assured award for every student in a category, or a fixed amount available to MBA-PPG students. This is a limit of the sources reviewed, not proof that no other aid or newly announced scheme exists. Before accepting an offer, ask the programme office which current schemes apply to that course, what documents and income or category tests are required, whether the college is on a current government list, and when the student must apply. Confirm whether an award is a scholarship, reimbursement, fee concession, loan or conditional support; these terms describe different financial obligations.
Education loans are separate from scholarships
The 2023–25 PGP Manual says IIM Raipur had arrangements with nationalised banks for students who needed education loans. It says a student could apply to one of those banks and that procurement and repayment would be by agreement between the student and the bank; the institute does not take on the financial or repayment obligation. A bank loan is borrowed money, not a scholarship or fee waiver. Applicants should compare the lender’s current interest rate, processing charges, collateral or guarantor terms, repayment start date, moratorium, insurance conditions and prepayment rules directly with the bank.
The loan statement is tied to that manual and should not be treated as a current list of partner banks or a guarantee that a particular application will be approved. Ask IIM Raipur’s current admissions or finance office for its latest loan information, and obtain the lender’s written offer before comparing total programme costs. A loan may cover some expenses, but the student remains responsible for repayment under the signed agreement.
A practical way to check eligibility
Start with the current admission offer and identify the exact programme and intake. Then read the applicable government scheme notice, check the live eligible-institution list, and confirm that the course and student category are covered. Use the National Scholarship Portal for the published application process and required documents. Keep copies of the admission proof, category certificate, income documentation, bank details and any academic records the scheme actually requests; do not upload extra personal documents unless the official application requires them.
Ask the institute whether the scheme requires a separate campus or programme verification, whether the institute must validate the application, and whether scholarship funds are paid to the student or credited toward fees. Confirm deadlines and renewal conditions from the current notice. If an offer letter or fee deadline comes before a scholarship decision, do not assume the award will arrive in time; ask the institute how to meet payment requirements while the application is pending.
What the available sources establish
- The 2023–25 PGP Manual named central SC and ST scholarship routes and directed applicants to the National Scholarship Portal.
- The SC Top Class scheme page currently links to 2026–27 guidelines and requires an empanelled institution.
- The institute’s Financial Assistance page concerns full-time research scholars, not a general MBA stipend.
- The manual’s bank-loan arrangements are not scholarships and do not transfer repayment liability to the institute.
- Current eligibility, empanelment, deadlines and award amounts must be checked for the applicant’s own programme and intake.
