Current applications: PGPBM 2027-29
As of 4 November 2026, the clearest open IIM Tiruchirappalli application route is its Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM) for the 2027-29 batch. The online application deadline is 31 January 2027. This is the Chennai Campus weekend programme for working executives, not the full-time PGPM at the Tiruchirappalli campus.
The institute’s admissions portal says admission to the full-time PGPM and PGPM-HR 2026-28 batches is closed. The official PGPM policy page still describes the 2026-28 process and CAT 2025/JAP 2026. I found no later full-time PGPM/PGPM-HR policy on those pages during this check, so do not treat CAT 2025 thresholds or old dates as rules for a 2027-29 domestic intake. Recheck the official admissions page and relevant policy before relying on a new cycle.
PGPBM eligibility and how to apply
For PGPBM 2027-29, applicants need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA; the page specifies 45% for SC, ST and Differently Abled Person (DAP) candidates. It also lists recognised professional qualifications, including CA, CS, CMA/ICWA and FIAI. Applicants need at least three years of full-time work experience after their first bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, measured on the application closing date. Meeting minimum eligibility does not guarantee shortlisting.
Apply through the institute’s linked PGPBM portal. The stated application fee is ₹2,000, or ₹1,000 for SC, ST and DAP applicants; applicants using the concession must attach the relevant certificate. The 2027-29 page describes a non-refundable programme fee of ₹14.5 lakh and a separate ₹10,000 refundable caution deposit. Confirm the payment schedule and any revised terms on the official page before paying.
Test, interview and final selection
Eligible applicants with complete forms are called for an Aptitude Test and Personal Interview at IIM Tiruchirappalli’s Chennai Campus. The institute’s aptitude test lasts 60 minutes and covers Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning.
A valid CAT score from 2024, 2025 or 2026, or a valid GMAT or GRE score, can exempt a candidate from the institute’s aptitude test. GMAT and GRE scores are valid for five years from the test date; the score must still be valid on the interview date. Candidates using a listed test score must still submit the PGPBM application and pay the application fee. The page says that a candidate who chooses to take IIMT’s aptitude test instead will be assessed on that test score.
The final selection score is weighted as follows: aptitude test or accepted test score 40%, Personal Interview 30%, work experience 15%, and undergraduate-level or equivalent qualification performance 15%. Prepare evidence of both work history and academic results. Sponsored candidates still complete the full process; IIMT says sponsorship is a preference when other factors are equal.
The interview is also substantive: IIMT says it assesses work experience, professional achievements and overall suitability, while giving candidates room to explain their motivation, career goals and fit with the programme’s learning objectives.
PGPBM 2027-29 dates
These dates belong to PGPBM 2027-29. The institute may revise its schedule, so check the official PGPBM admission page and portal before booking travel or making a payment.
Is PGPBM the right route?
PGPBM awards an MBA degree after successful completion, but its delivery differs from the full-time PGPM. It is a 21-month, in-class, non-residential programme at the Chennai Campus, with weekend classes. It says there is no formal placement assistance for PGPBM, so applicants should assess the course as professional development while planning employment independently.
First-year classes run every Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM; in the second year, elective choices can also bring weekend morning sessions. The institute estimates approximately 870 classroom contact hours across the programme.
The 2027-29 application page allows applicants who are not currently employed to apply if they meet the eligibility conditions. It also gives an eligibility route for self-employed candidates whose registered venture and promoter status meet the stated conditions. These details matter if you are changing roles, running a business or applying after a career break: review the complete official criteria rather than assuming current employment is required.
Before you submit: confirm the programme and campus; calculate your work experience through 31 January 2027; check that your degree or professional qualification meets the notice; decide whether to use the institute test or an accepted valid score; upload any certificate needed for a reduced application fee; and save the application and payment receipts. If you want full-time PGPM or PGPM-HR, wait for that batch’s own policy instead of applying against the closed 2026-28 cycle.
