Matsyodari Shikshan Sanstha's College of Engineering and Technology

If you're looking for an engineering college in the Jalna-Aurangabad region that prioritizes affordability and a supportive faculty environment over high-flying placement stats, Matsyodari Shikshan Sanstha's College of Engineering and Technology (MSS's CET) is a name you'll hear. Established in 2002, this private institute has carved out a niche by offering technical education at a cost that's accessible to many. It's a place where the official median package hovers around 3 LPA, and the campus, while clean and functional, sits a 15-minute bus ride from Jalna city. The story here isn't about glamour or top-tier corporate recruitment. It's about a practical, budget-conscious option in Maharashtra's Marathwada region, where the teaching gets good marks from students even if the placement cell's performance is a point of contention.

Courses and Academic Programs at MSS's CET Jalna

The academic portfolio here is straightforward, covering the core engineering disciplines alongside management and diploma studies. The total B.Tech intake is 210 students, split between Computer Science & Engineering (60), Mechanical Engineering (60), Civil Engineering (60), and Electrical Engineering (30). For postgraduates, M.Tech is offered in Mechanical, Electrical Power Systems, and Computer Science with 18 seats each, and the MBA program has an intake of 60. There's also a substantial Diploma (Polytechnic) program with a total intake of 300 across five branches.

Academically, the college follows the university-mandated Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), which means students get some flexibility in choosing electives. The stated focus is on practical skills—lab work, projects, and industry interaction are emphasized in the official literature. And they try to weave in managerial and soft skills through workshops and activities. It's a standard, curriculum-driven approach you'd expect from a university-affiliated college. Don't look for radical pedagogy or ultra-specialized tracks. The strength, according to student reviews, lies in the execution: "Teachers in our college are very friendly and helpful" and "Practical knowledge is provided for students in our course." That's a decent foundation, especially when you consider the fee point.

MSS's CET Jalna Placements: Packages, Companies & Reality Check

This is the section where you need to read between the lines of the official data. The numbers present a mixed picture. For the 2023 batch, the college's own data shows a median salary of ₹3.00 LPA for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. They placed 135 out of 172 UG students (about 78%) and 9 out of 13 PG students. That's a specific snapshot.

But look at other data points. The highest package cited is 9 LPA (2022), and the average has been reported around 3.5 LPA (2023). Historical data shows median packages have been in the ₹2.4-3.0 LPA range for several years. The placement percentage itself has varied wildly in reports—from an average of 54.45% over five years (as of 2019) to a specific 20% figure mentioned for 2022 in a student review, which contrasts sharply with an unverified student claim of 80%.

The recruiter list includes familiar IT names like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, and Accenture (which reportedly hired 47 at 3 LPA), alongside core companies like L&T, Ambuja Cement, and local steel plants. Sectors touched include IT, core engineering, banking, and infrastructure.

Here's the reality check students talk about. One review states plainly: "As per me, the placement are not too good in MSS's CET, Jalna." Another notes, "No on Campus recruitments." The gap between the official 2023 placement rate and the student-expressed skepticism is notable. The takeaway? You can't bank on a high-paying, on-campus job. The placement cell brings companies, but the outcomes are modest. For many students here, the degree is a stepping stone to further studies, government exams, or securing a stable entry-level position. It's a budget college with budget placement expectations. Plan accordingly.

Fees and Financial Aid at MSS's CET Jalna

Affordability is arguably this college's strongest card. The annual tuition fee for the B.Tech program is approximately ₹60,000. Over four years, that totals around ₹2.4 to ₹2.5 lakhs for tuition alone (though one figure mentions ₹3.4 lakhs for BE CSE, so confirm the specific branch fee). MBA costs about ₹50,000 per year, and M.Tech is ₹55,000. Diploma fees are around ₹49,000 annually.

The hostel is described as being provided "at a very low cost," but there's a significant caveat: food is not provided by the hostel. You'll need to manage your own meals, which likely means using the campus canteen or cooking arrangements. The college canteen, Samarth Canteen, serves vegetarian food. The lack of a mess inclusion keeps hostel costs down but adds a layer of daily logistics. A total cost estimate is tricky without specific hostel and other mandatory fees, but it's safe to say the all-in cost is significantly lower than most private engineering colleges.

Financial aid is vaguely mentioned as "Cast benefit is available," implying government scholarships for reserved categories are processed. The college's own website or admission office would be the source for specific scholarship details, which aren't prominently detailed in available materials.

MSS's CET Jalna Admissions: Eligibility and Cutoffs

Admissions follow the standard state-level process. For the B.Tech program, you need a valid score in either MHT CET or JEE Main. For M.Tech, it's GATE, and for MBA, they accept scores from CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, or the state's MAH MBA CET. The selection is merit-based, combining your entrance exam rank and academic performance in previous qualifying exams (10th, 12th, or graduation).

Shortlisted candidates are called for counseling to finalize the admission. Specific cutoff ranks or percentiles for recent cycles aren't available in the public data, which is common for colleges in this tier. Your best bet is to check with the admission office directly once the entrance exam results are declared. The college also has a management quota, details of which are obtained on inquiry.

Key application dates to keep in mind revolve around the entrance exams: MHT CET typically happens in April, JEE Main sessions are spread across the year, and MBA exam registrations (CAT, etc.) open around mid-year. Forms are available on the official college website or at the office.

Campus Life and Infrastructure

The 13-acre campus is described by students as "good and clean" with "very attractive" infrastructure. It's a functional, no-frills environment. Academically, you get air-conditioned computer labs with about 400 systems, well-equipped department labs, and a central library stocking over 17,000 volumes and numerous journals. Campus-wide Wi-Fi via a 100 Mbps line is a plus.

For daily life, there's a sports complex with a gym and facilities for cricket, volleyball, badminton, and indoor games. The Samarth Canteen provides vegetarian food. A health centre offers first-aid. The notable drawback, location-wise, is that it's on the outskirts. "College located in out of City," as one review puts it. It's about a 15-minute bus ride from Jalna city, with college and city buses available. The nearest major airport is in Aurangabad, 60 km away.

The hostel situation is spartan. A girls' hostel (24 rooms, 70 capacity) and a boys' hostel exist, emphasizing security. But remember, no food is provided. This significantly impacts the hostel life experience and is a consistent point in reviews. You're paying for a room, not room and board.

Student Reviews: What MSS's CET Jalna Alumni Really Think

Synthesizing student sentiment paints a clear picture of trade-offs. The praise is consistently directed at the faculty and the value-for-money proposition. The teachers are repeatedly called "friendly and helpful," and the practical focus of the courses is appreciated. Many highlight the college's founding ethos: "This is the only engineering college in district which has been started to help the economically weak student to make career in engineering fields at affordable fees." That's a powerful statement that defines its student base.

The criticisms are equally consistent and center on two things: placements and location. Placement performance is viewed with skepticism, with direct comments about low percentages and a lack of on-campus recruitment drives. The location, being outside the main city, is seen as an inconvenience. The hostel's lack of a food service is a practical grievance. There's also a minor note about administrative speed ("the cash counter is a low process").

You won't find reviews talking about a vibrant social scene or elite facilities. The consensus is that it's a simple, affordable college with decent teaching, where you have to be proactive about your career because the placement cell might not open all the doors for you.

Verdict: Is MSS's CET Jalna Worth It?

Matsyodari Shikshan Sanstha's College of Engineering and Technology is a specific solution for a specific need. It's worth serious consideration if your primary constraints are budget and you're seeking a decent, recognized B.Tech degree in the Marathwada region. If you value approachable faculty and a no-nonsense academic environment over luxurious amenities, and you're prepared to manage your own career trajectory aggressively—through off-campus drives, higher studies, or government exams—this college can serve as a cost-effective launchpad.

However, you should probably look elsewhere if your goal is to land a high-paying software job directly from campus placement drives, or if you desire a bustling, self-contained campus life with all modern conveniences. The placement record is modest, and the hostel-life is barebones. It's a college that fulfills its promise of affordable engineering education, but it's on the student to leverage that degree into a successful career. For many in its catchment area, that's a fair deal.
