The latest confirmed NIMCET participating list is for 2026-27 MCA admission. The official portal names 11 NITs and 2 IIITs; the seat matrix lists two separate IIIT Vadodara campuses and several programme or self-financing rows. The 2026 brochure totals 1,300 initial seats. This is a cycle-specific list, not a forecast for the next admission year, and a NIMCET rank does not guarantee a seat at any one institute.
Participating institutes and programme rows in 2026
The following names and seat counts are from the official NIMCET-2026 information brochure. Counts refer to the published initial seat matrix, not the number vacant at a later counselling round.
The total row is the sum of the official entries, including separate regular/self-financing and campus rows. The brochure's seat-table introduction has an inconsistent sentence saying “thirteen NITs and two IIITs”; the official homepage and participating-institute list instead identify 11 NITs and 2 IIITs. The table's named rows also show IIIT Vadodara's two campuses. Use the actual institute list and programme rows rather than repeating the inconsistent wording.
What “accepting NIMCET” means
The brochure says the participating institutes use NIMCET rank for MCA admission through the official process. That does not mean every institute accepts every candidate who has a rank. Admission depends on eligibility, rank, choices, category rules and seat availability. The official 2026 FAQ says candidates must satisfy the qualifying requirements; candidates with a positive result still need to take part in counselling and complete document checks.
The listed MCA tracks are not interchangeable. NIT Patna's Data Sciences & Informatics and AI & IoT options have separate seat rows, as do some self-financing options. IIIT Vadodara's Gandhinagar and International Campus-Diu entries are distinct campus choices. Check each institute's curriculum, location, degree nomenclature and reporting instructions before ordering choices.
Check fees and seat availability separately
The brochure's six-semester fee table illustrates differences across institutions. Several entries show ₹35,000 per semester, while listed self-financing routes and programme tracks have different amounts. The table footnotes say some figures are tuition only; it also marks the NIT Tiruchirappalli amount as likely to be revised. Hostel, mess, deposits and other institute charges may be separate. These are 2026 figures, not a universal NIMCET or MCA fee. Review the exact institute's current fee notice and ask what each amount includes.
The initial 1,300-seat matrix is not a live vacancy count. Seats can be allotted in rounds, and the official portal posts vacancy information for the special round. A candidate should use the current matrix and vacancy notice for the relevant cycle, then interpret the official opening-and-closing-rank report by programme, category and round. A prior closing rank does not guarantee a future allotment.
Eligibility and score use
For NIMCET-2026, the brochure stated an undergraduate-degree route with Mathematics/Statistics or a B.E./B.Tech. and specified aggregate marks. The official FAQ clarifies aspects of relevant undergraduate Mathematics/Statistics coursework. These are exam eligibility rules for that cycle; they do not establish the separate curriculum prerequisites or admission requirements at every institute. Check the next NIMCET brochure and the allotted institute's current admission instructions.
The official brochure says admission is based on NIMCET rank and candidate choices. Other universities may run separate MCA admissions. The brochure explicitly limits the NIMCET process to its named participating institutes and says NIMCET has no role in some other universities' processes even if they considered ranks in earlier years. Do not treat a third-party list of “NIMCET colleges” as proof of current participation.
Shortlist with the current official notices
Start with the official Participating Institutes page, then confirm the current seat matrix and each institute's own programme and fee pages. Check whether your shortlist includes a different campus, track or financing status than the one you intended. Build choices that you would genuinely accept, and order them according to preference under the counselling rules.
As of 28 October 2026, the official portal reported the 2026 special-round seat result declared. The checked official materials did not announce the next cycle's participating list, programme names or seat counts. Keep the table above labelled NIMCET-2026 and recheck for changes before applying.
