Company Secretary admission process: CSEET to ICSI registration
Admission to the Company Secretary qualification is through ICSI’s student-registration system, not a college counselling portal. A typical school route is CSEET followed by Executive and Professional registration. Candidates in specified qualification categories can enter Executive directly. This page describes the sequence, not a live application calendar. Step 1: select the correct entry route
For CSEET, confirm the current nationality and 10+2 registration rules. Register for a session shown in the official portal, complete the Student Induction Programme and use the syllabus applicable to the registration date. ICSI made the restructured CSEET applicable from registrations on 16 December 2025; its first examination was in June 2026. If you qualify for direct Executive registration, identify the exact exemption category and gather the required proof. ICSI’s April 2026 FAQ lists ICSI Foundation pass, graduate/postgraduate, ICAI Intermediate pass, ICMAI Final pass and specified final-year or integrated-programme candidates. Step 2: register and complete entry requirements
Create or access the account through ICSI’s official registration process. Enter personal and education details as shown in the supporting documents. Select the correct route, upload requested records and pay the amount shown by the portal. Keep the payment receipt, reference number and submitted documents. If details are inconsistent, resolve them through ICSI’s prescribed correction process rather than attaching an informal explanation and assuming it is accepted. ICSI Registration Process.
CSEET registration, Student Induction Programme and examination enrolment are related but distinct steps. Confirm that the induction requirement is complete, submit the examination form, pay the per-session examination fee and check the centre/admit-card information. A registration receipt does not by itself confirm exam enrolment. Direct Executive entrants should verify the approved exemption, pre-examination test and orientation obligations. Step 3: plan Executive examinations
Executive under Syllabus 2022 has seven papers in two groups. Candidates can plan one or both groups, following the current ICSI examination enrolment cutoffs. Examination registration is separate for each sitting: choose the group, pay the fee, confirm the transaction and use the applicable paper material and supplement. Read the group rules and any paper exemption in the student portal. An exemption must be formally recorded by ICSI; a similar subject in a university degree does not remove a paper automatically. Check the syllabus number, subject codes, amendment cutoff and group choice before purchasing study material. After results, save the official statement and verify that all required groups are cleared before moving to Professional.
Step 4: enter Professional and select electives
After clearing Executive requirements, apply for Professional registration through the ICSI portal. Under Syllabus 2022, select one elective in each group from the options offered for the candidate’s syllabus and session. Professional examination enrolment and study supplements are separate again. For each sitting, verify the allowed group, cutoff date, exam fee, centre and syllabus. If old-syllabus transition or a prior exemption applies, follow the official switchover instructions and preserve the earlier result records. Do not rely on a tutor’s equivalence list to infer which papers appear in the student portal.
Step 5: complete training and membership requirements
Academic registration does not complete the course. ICSI training requirements include induction/orientation, Executive Development Programme elements, long-term practical training and Corporate Leadership Development Programme conditions. The sequence and recognition can depend on registration date, stages passed, previous training and later transition notices. Keep approved trainer details, contracts, diaries or reports and completion acknowledgements. A training opportunity is not the same as employment or membership. Apply for ICSI membership only after checking that examination, training, documentation and other conditions are complete. A Certificate of Practice and authority to perform particular services have additional rules. Keep written acceptance and membership status; passing the final examination does not itself establish every later professional status.
Transitions and frequent mistakes
The revised CSEET is a dated transition, not a perpetual current-cycle notice. Candidates who registered before the change, passed under the old format, or entered Executive directly may have different actions. Common mistakes include paying for the wrong route, confusing registration with exam enrolment, missing group cutoffs, using old paper lists, assuming all degrees receive identical provisional treatment or treating a university entrance score as CSEET.
