Company Secretary syllabus: CSEET, Executive and Professional
The applicable syllabus depends on a student’s entry route, registration date and examination attempt. ICSI distinguishes the restructured CSEET from Executive and Professional papers under Syllabus 2022. Within Syllabus 2022, the Institute issues revised study materials, supplements and applicability notices. Match the paper, group, syllabus number and exam term before buying material. A paper title alone does not reveal which legal amendments apply. ICSI Syllabus 2022, ICSI Academic Portal.
Restructured CSEET from June 2026
ICSI made its revised CSEET applicable to candidates registering from 16 December 2025. January 2026 was the last exam under the former remote-proctored format, and the first revised examination was held in June 2026. The April 2026 FAQ describes a centre-based test across four days with Business Communication, Fundamentals of Accounting, Economic and Business Environment, and Business Laws and Management. The current CSEET portal carries the detailed syllabus and any later notice. ICSI CSEET FAQ, ICSI revised CSEET portal.
The transition came with updated eligibility, induction and timing rules. Material for the earlier CSEET can be wrong for a new registration. Keep the current syllabus PDF and session instructions together. An examination session schedule can change, so use the official calendar rather than a tutor’s archived annual timetable. CSEET is an entry assessment and not a paper inside Executive.
Executive Programme under Syllabus 2022
Executive has seven papers in two groups. Group 1 covers jurisprudence, interpretation and general laws; company law and practice; setting up of business, industrial and labour laws; and corporate accounting and financial management. Group 2 covers capital markets and securities laws; economic, commercial and intellectual property laws; and tax laws and practice. These subjects combine legal interpretation, accounting and application. ICSI’s official study materials and supplements determine which edition applies to the candidate’s attempt. ICSI Executive Programme, ICSI Syllabus 2022.
ICSI has revised paper content and posts session-specific updates. For example, the official material identifies changes applicable from specified examinations. A student should check the supplement and amendment cutoff for each paper rather than assume the statute date or book publication date is enough. Company law, tax and securities topics can be sensitive to updates, but only the applicable official supplement identifies the examined scope. ICSI New Syllabus 2022, ICSI Academic Portal.
Professional Programme and electives
Professional under Syllabus 2022 has seven papers across two groups, including one elective in each group. Core subjects include ESG principles and practice, drafting and appearances, compliance management, audit and due diligence, strategic management and corporate finance, and corporate restructuring, valuation and insolvency. Electives span CSR and social governance, internal and forensic audit, intellectual property, artificial intelligence/data/cyber laws, advanced direct tax, IFSCA regulation, arbitration and mediation, GST and corporate tax planning, labour, banking and insurance, and insolvency law. The exact list is published by ICSI. ICSI Professional Programme.
Elective availability is attempt-specific. ICSI’s current Professional page notes future applicability for selected papers, including some subjects from June 2027 onward. Confirm that the paper appears in the student’s registration and exam portal before choosing it. An elective is a paper within the professional stage, not a separate qualification, practice licence or guaranteed employment specialization. Syllabus 2017 candidates and switchover
Some students have registration history under Syllabus 2017. ICSI published switchover and exemption instructions as Executive and Professional moved to Syllabus 2022. A passed group or paper may receive treatment under an official transition table, but candidates should not invent equivalence from similar titles. The last old-syllabus Executive and Professional examination windows were different; transition conditions depend on stage and student record. Use current notices and the portal’s recorded syllabus. ICSI New Syllabus 2022, ICSI Important Notifications.
When switching, review module exemptions, registration validity and application steps. Keep old registration and result statements. If the portal displays an unexpected paper list, pause before enrolling or buying material and contact ICSI with the student number and relevant documents. A syllabus change affects study, assessment and planning; it is not just a renamed course page.
How to study the papers
Start with the official paper outcomes and current text. Divide the subject into legal concepts, statutory wording, application, drafting and revision. For company law, practise tracing a fact to the right provision, rule, meeting process and filing consequence. For accounting and finance, solve problems rather than relying only on summaries. For drafting, create structured documents and check formal requirements. In securities and tax papers, track the supplement cutoff that applies to the attempt. Use past papers and guideline answers to calibrate answer depth, but do not treat old questions as a forecast. ICSI Guideline Answers, ICSI Academic Portal.
For CSEET, practise the revised paper format and component mix shown in the current FAQ. For Executive and Professional, plan groups around available study time rather than assuming taking both together is always faster. Keep a source log for legal updates and include training obligations in the study plan. This page summarizes the structure; ICSI’s latest syllabus, subject supplement and attempt notice control.
