MBA-HR fees vary with delivery mode, residential facilities, institution and fee year. A tuition figure may exclude examinations, mess, hostel, deposits, study materials or field learning. Use the current programme fee schedule and calculate the amount payable across the full duration, separating refundable deposits and variable charges. An annual tuition amount is not the same as the full course price.
Three published fee examples
For IGNOU, the July 2026 prospectus lists ₹16,000 for semesters I, II and IV and ₹18,000 for semester III. Multiplying and adding those four charges gives ₹66,000; the programme page says examination fees are not included. IIM Trichy’s 2026-28 amount excludes the caution deposit and mess advance. XIM’s 2026 table lists ₹11L course fee in each year. It separately lists a ₹1L development fund, materials ₹40,000 per year, IT ₹20,000 per year, alumni fee ₹10,000, career advisory ₹50,000, field learning ₹30,000 and refundable deposit ₹20,000. Adding the published rows produces ₹25.3L including deposit. Confirm which fee year applies to your batch and whether any later revision has been issued.
Add costs that the headline may omit
For a residential programme, ask about hostel, meals, travel to campus, laptop, books and personal expenses; mess advances are not the same as a fixed meal charge. For an ODL course, include examination fees, internet, travel to an examination centre and any printed materials not included. Check whether a deposit is refundable and under what conditions, and whether fees can change between terms or academic years.
Ask about scholarships, fee waivers and education loans before comparing net cost. IIM Trichy lists an academic fee waiver scheme for a limited share of students subject to institute criteria; do not subtract a waiver unless you meet the current conditions. Obtain the total in writing from the programme’s admissions office.
Make a decision-ready budget
Build one sheet per offer with tuition by term or year, mandatory charges, deposits, housing, meals, travel, examination fees, scholarship conditions and refund rules. Record the source date and mark amounts that can change. Compare total cash payable and non-refundable cost separately. The three examples above span ODL, full-time residential and full-time campus formats; they are not a market average and should not be ranked without considering what each includes.
