Official source →INI-CET is the common entrance examination used for postgraduate admissions at participating Institutes of National Importance. AIIMS New Delhi’s Examination Section administers the test. The July 2025 prospectus describes AIIMS as responsible for the application, examination, result and seat-allocation process, while admission at each participating institute follows that institute’s own rules. A rank therefore helps a candidate enter the seat-allocation process; it is not itself a seat offer, confirmation of institute-specific eligibility or guarantee of admission. Start with the AIIMS INI-CET prospectus, and read the relevant institute’s Part B prospectus before ranking a course choice.
The newest detailed prospectus directly opened for this page is the July 2025 Part A, revised 2 April 2025. It covered MD, MS, six-year DM, six-year MCh, MDS and MD (Hospital Administration) admissions at 23 participating institutes. Its rules and dates are a historical example. The AIIMS Key Dates page reviewed in October 2026 showed no 2026 calendar data and did not provide a 2027 INI-CET schedule. Do not use a July 2025 deadline, eligibility cutoff, fee or test pattern to make a 2027-cycle decision. When a new prospectus appears, compare it with later corrigenda and notices before treating its first schedule as final.
The July 2025 Part A lists AIIMS New Delhi and other AIIMS institutes, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, PGIMER Chandigarh and SCTIMST Trivandrum. The individual institutes publish their programme and seat details separately. The entrance test’s common route does not erase those differences: a candidate can meet the general exam eligibility rules and still fail a specific institute’s course, category, sponsorship, domicile or document condition. Before you choose, verify that the exact institute offers the degree and specialty for that session, that your route is eligible, and that the seat is in the correct category.
The prospectus separates three phases: application, examination and seat allocation. The sequence matters. Complete the registration and application stages, download the admit card, sit the CBT, then follow the result and choice instructions. A candidate who qualifies must still complete preference and reporting actions by the dates that the applicable notice sets. The 2025 document said institute-specific admission rules were contained in Part B and should be checked at the institute level.
For July 2025, AIIMS described a computer-based test of 200 objective questions in 180 minutes. It included single-correct and multiple-correct questions. A correct answer earned one mark, an incorrect answer lost one-third of a mark, and an unanswered or marked-for-review item earned zero. The prospectus divided the paper into four timed parts of 50 questions and 45 minutes each. That works out to an average of 54 seconds per question within a part, not an instruction to spend exactly that long on every item. The format rewards a plan for answering straightforward questions first, reserving time for uncertain items, and checking the interface rules for review and movement before the actual exam.
This is a dated practice model, not a confirmed specification for January or July 2027. The number of questions, timed parts, scoring, interface and duration must be checked in the next applicable prospectus. The current official AIIMS Key Dates page is useful for calendar monitoring, but the page response reviewed here does not show a 2027 INI-CET timetable.
The July 2025 prospectus required a recognised MBBS degree for the listed medical courses and a recognised BDS degree for MDS. It set a 12-month compulsory rotating internship completion cutoff of 31 July 2025 for that session. For Indian nationals whose qualifying degree was earned in India, the prospectus listed minimum aggregate marks across all professional MBBS/BDS examinations: 50% for SC/ST candidates and 55% for other categories, including OBC/EWS. Those are source-year-specific requirements, not 2027 thresholds. Foreign-national, sponsored and institute-specific routes have separate conditions, and the Part B prospectuses may add requirements. Do not reduce eligibility to a single marks number or assume an exam admit card settles admission eligibility.
Use this sequence when the new cycle notice is released: identify your degree and route; confirm the recognised qualification; calculate aggregate marks using the definition in the prospectus; check the internship cutoff; then review category certificates, sponsored or foreign-national documents and the Part B conditions for each institute. If any certificate or internship date falls near a cutoff, seek a written answer from the responsible examination or institute office instead of relying on an older session’s rule.
The July 2025 prospectus scheduled registration and basic information from 10 March through 15 April, completion of application from 1 April through 25 April, the CBT on 17 May, admit-card download on 10 May, and result declaration expected on 24 May. It separately listed course commencement on 1 July and last admission on 31 August. The sequence is a useful checklist of distinct tasks, but none of those dates is a 2027 estimate. The prospectus described a 2025 fee of ₹4,000 for General/OBC/foreign-national/OCI/sponsored applicants, ₹3,200 for SC/ST/EWS, and an exemption for PwBD candidates; transaction charges could apply. Future fees must come from the future notice.
A result, qualifying percentile, merit rank and seat allotment answer different questions. In the 2025 prospectus, the stated minimum percentile was 50 for UR (including OCI), EWS, sponsored and foreign-national seats, and 45 for OBC, SC, ST and PwBD seats, with a stated PGI-Chandigarh-specific Bhutanese category. The qualifying threshold tells you whether you crossed the cycle’s minimum bar. It does not tell you which institute or specialty you will obtain. Seat availability, rank, category, institute rules and the candidate’s submitted preferences all matter.
While the next applicable notice is not confirmed in the opened sources, prepare the parts that do not depend on guessed dates: keep degree and registration documents together, confirm the exact internship completion date with your institution, collect valid category or sponsorship documents if relevant, and maintain a shortlist with the specific institute and course for each choice. When AIIMS publishes the new prospectus, record its publication date and session, compare its dates with subsequent notices, and make separate reminders for registration, fee payment, correction, admit card, examination and seat allocation. Then replace every historical number in your planning sheet with the value from the current cycle’s official documents.
The safest decision today is to treat INI-CET as a potential route only if the participating institute and course match your qualification and goals. Use the 2025 prospectus to understand the process and its moving parts, not to assume what will happen in 2027. The latest live calendar should be checked through AIIMS, and institute-specific admission terms through the selected INI.
For a concrete historical reference, the July 2025 Part A table listed these 23 participating institutions: AIIMS New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, Bibinagar, Bhatinda, Deoghar, Mangalagiri, Raebareli, Kalyani, Bilaspur, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Rajkot and Jammu; JIPMER Puducherry; NIMHANS Bengaluru; PGIMER Chandigarh; and SCTIMST Trivandrum. The prospectus names the July 2025 session specifically. The roster should be rechecked against the next applicable document instead of assuming that every institute or course carries forward.
The same Part A identifies the broad course scope as MD, MS, six-year DM, six-year MCh, MDS and MD (Hospital Administration). That list describes the examination’s July 2025 scope, not the courses available at each institution. A candidate interested in MDS, for example, still needs to confirm that the chosen INI offers the relevant course and seat for the session. The Part A roster does not function as a seat matrix.
Treat each institute-course pair as a separate decision. Keep a row for the institute, exact course, category or route, and official document where eligibility is described. This avoids assuming that a course at one AIIMS has identical conditions at another institute, or that every participating institution uses the same fee, stipend or joining policy. The detailed prospectus directs applicants to each INI’s Part B for institution-specific information.
This list adds useful specificity to the 2025 overview, but it is not a current participating-institute claim. The AIIMS Key Dates page checked in October 2026 did not show a 2027 INI-CET date, and no current 2027 institute roster was opened. Before applying, compare the next session Part A roster with the course and seat information published for each institution.
AIIMS described the July 2025 process in three phases: application, examination and seat allocation. The process map shows basic registration, generation of a session-specific Examination Unique Code, completion of the application, admit card, computer-based test, result and then seat allocation. The order matters because an incomplete application is not repaired by later examination steps. Keep the portal status for each stage and use the session-specific instructions to resolve an image, payment or credential issue before its own deadline.
Part A also shows a mock round, first round, second round and open round. It states that allocation would have at least two rounds followed by an open round; detailed schedules were to be announced separately. In the first and second rounds, qualified candidates were to be called from the eligible list. Allocation was based on merit, choices submitted by candidates and the applicable institute reservation policies. These details explain the broad mechanism but do not predict the next session’s rounds, seat count or choice-filling window.
The division of responsibility is important. AIIMS Examination Section is responsible for the common examination and seat-allocation process described in Part A. Admission into a participating INI is governed by the rules of that institute and administered there. Each Part B contains local requirements, including institute-specific eligibility and matters such as stipend or salary, leave, hostel, admission fees and resignation penalties. Therefore a result or allotment should be followed by the relevant institute’s current joining documents, not just the common exam notice.
A practical shortlist should separate “qualified for the common exam” from “eligible for this course at this institute” and “ready to join under this institute’s rules.” Check all three before ordering preferences. If one institution asks for a condition not stated in the common Part A, inspect its Part B and current updates. If two official documents appear inconsistent, compare their dates and scope and seek clarification from the responsible authority. Do not treat a common score, a qualifying percentile or a rank as a complete admission decision.
These are July 2025 process details. Use the next session’s prospectus and later amendments to replace every old deadline, seat-allocation step and institute rule before making a current application decision.
