Check eligibility in two layers
INI-CET eligibility has two separate questions: can you register and sit the common test, and are you eligible for a particular seat at a particular institute? The July 2025 AIIMS Part A prospectus covers the examination layer and warns that institute-specific eligibility appears in each Part B prospectus. Use the Part A prospectus as a dated checklist only; the 2027 rules were not confirmed in the sources reviewed.
The marks rule refers to the aggregate of all professional MBBS/BDS examinations, not one selected year. Do not compare your total against the threshold using only final-year marks. The prospectus also separates Indian and foreign-national routes and discusses sponsored candidates and category certificates. Their documentary conditions can differ, so confirm your exact route in the applicable prospectus rather than applying the Indian-graduate checklist to every applicant.
Dates and documents can change the answer
For July 2025, the internship cutoff was 31 July 2025. That date is expired and cannot establish eligibility for a future session. When a new notice is issued, check the degree recognition, internship-completion date, registration certificate, category certificate and validity period against its own dates. A certificate that was valid for July 2025 may not meet the next session’s issue-date window. Keep the original documents and check that the spelling and registration numbers match across them.
A candidate may meet the general exam rule but still be ineligible for a specific institute or programme. The Part A prospectus says admission requirements at participating INIs may differ and directs applicants to Part B. Before placing a course high in your preferences, verify that the relevant institute accepts your category and qualification route, and check any additional domicile, rural-service, sponsorship or experience rule in that institute’s current Part B. The participating-institute list alone is not proof that every institute offers every course to every category.
Age, attempts and domicile
The July 2025 Part A portions reviewed do not establish a universal age limit or attempt cap for a 2027 session. Do not assume “unlimited attempts” or a common domicile rule from informal summaries. Domicile or institute-specific categories can be handled separately in Part B, and sponsored or foreign-national categories have their own documents. If an age, attempt or domicile condition matters to your case, search the current Part A and the exact institute’s Part B when published, then ask the examination section or institute for a written clarification if the rule remains ambiguous.
A quick self-check before applying
- Match your degree to the course: MBBS for the medical pathways listed in the 2025 prospectus, BDS for MDS.
- Calculate aggregate marks across all professional examinations, using your applicable category and the next session’s threshold.
- Compare internship completion with the next session’s stated cutoff, not the old 31 July 2025 date.
- Confirm registration and category, sponsorship or foreign-national documents as applicable.
- Check the institute-specific Part B conditions for every course you plan to select.
These steps help identify questions before payment. They do not certify eligibility: AIIMS describes candidature as provisional and the institutes verify documents. Because no 2027 eligibility notice was opened here, the thresholds and cutoff dates above are strictly historical examples.
Check eligibility in the right order
Start by identifying the course you intend to apply for. The July 2025 Part A prospectus distinguishes MBBS-based routes from the BDS-based MDS route, and institute-specific conditions appear in each participating institution’s Part B prospectus. A candidate should not assume that one general eligibility paragraph covers every course, institute or admission route. Read Part A for common examination conditions, then match the course and institute to the relevant Part B before relying on a final checklist.
Next, verify the date attached to each condition. For the July 2025 session, the internship completion cutoff was 31 July 2025. The 12-month requirement and that date belong to that admission session; they are not a reusable 2027 cutoff. If your internship ends near a future deadline, do not calculate eligibility from the old date. Wait for the applicable prospectus and compare its exact cutoff with your completion certificate.
Then check how marks are counted. The 2025 prospectus used aggregate marks across all professional MBBS or BDS examinations for its minimum percentage requirement. That is different from taking a single final-year mark or an entrance-test score. Keep the marksheets needed to support the aggregate and check how the new notice treats rounding, supplementary examinations or other cases if those questions apply to you.
Finally, identify whether you are applying as an Indian national, under a reserved category, or through a sponsored or foreign-national route. Use only the certificate type and validity period named in the relevant official prospectus. If two documents use different category language, resolve the discrepancy with the responsible institute before paying or submitting; do not assume the portal’s dropdown itself proves eligibility. This is a document-planning method, not a promise that the 2027 criteria will match 2025.
