JEE (Advanced) result does two separate jobs: it reports a candidate’s marks and shows whether the candidate has been placed in one or more rank lists. For IIT admission, a qualifying result is only the beginning of seat allocation. As of 27 October 2026, JEE (Advanced) 2027 result dates and score-reporting rules have not been announced. The latest completed-cycle reference is 2026, whose result was scheduled for 1 June at 10:00 IST and published through the official JEE (Advanced) portal. Use the live official JEE (Advanced) website and its result link when the 2027 cycle opens.
Where to retrieve the result
The 2026 brochure said category-wise All India Ranks of successful candidates would be available through the JEE (Advanced) online portal after declaration, and that text messages would also be sent to registered mobile numbers. Individual rank cards would not be sent. The practical step is to use the result link on the official site and save a local copy of the result page or downloadable score record. Do not wait for a paper rank card in the post or treat a text alert as a replacement for checking the portal.
The official 2026 milestone list scheduled online declaration of the final answer key and result for 1 June at 10:00 IST. The live home page posted a result link on that date. For 2027, the exact date, time, portal link, login credentials and scorecard fields remain unannounced. The same candidate account used during the examination cycle is the sensible first place to check, but follow the actual 2027 notice for credentials and the official result link rather than assuming a previous login route will remain unchanged.
If the portal is slow on result morning, use only official links and retry later. Avoid sharing registration numbers, dates of birth or OTPs with unofficial result-checking sites. Save the downloadable result and note the date and time accessed. If a portal error persists, use the candidate support channel published for that cycle; do not interpret a blank page or failed login as a declared result or final status.
What the marks and rank mean
Under the 2026 rules, only candidates who appeared in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 were evaluated and considered for ranking. Marks in each subject were calculated by adding the candidate’s marks in that subject across both papers; the aggregate was the sum of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics marks. Rank lists were prepared from that aggregate. The brochure did not describe a percentile-normalisation process for Advanced. Do not confuse the JEE Main percentile used in the route to the exam with the JEE Advanced marks and All India Rank reported after the exam.
The rank procedure is also why a raw estimate based on one paper, a coaching key or a guessed marking scheme cannot establish an official result. Provisional keys are tentative. In 2026, candidates could view their recorded responses, inspect provisional answer keys and submit feedback through the candidate portal within a short published window. Marks were awarded according to the final answer key after feedback. For that cycle, feedback was open from 25 May 10:00 to 26 May 17:00 IST; the final keys and result were scheduled for 1 June. The 2027 answer-key and feedback process must be checked anew.
For tied aggregate marks in 2026, the first tie-break was higher positive marks. If that did not resolve the tie, higher Mathematics marks, then higher Physics marks, were considered. If candidates remained tied after these steps, the brochure said they would receive the same rank. This is one reason to use the published rank, not estimate a position from aggregate marks alone.
Qualifying is not the same as getting a seat
In the 2026 brochure, rank-list inclusion required meeting both a minimum percentage in each subject and a minimum aggregate percentage. For the Common Rank List, those figures were 10% in each subject and 35% aggregate. GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL rank lists required 9% in each subject and 31.5% aggregate. SC and ST rank lists required 5% and 17.5%; the listed PwD rank lists used the same 5% and 17.5%. Preparatory-course rank lists used 2.5% in each subject and 8.75% aggregate. These are 2026 rank-list thresholds, not 2027 cutoffs and not admission closing ranks.
The distinction has practical consequences. Crossing a qualifying threshold means the candidate can appear in the relevant rank list under the cycle rules. It does not mean a particular IIT or course is available at that rank. Conversely, “qualifying” should not be read as a prediction of seat allotment. IIT allocation depends on the candidate’s rank, category and choices, the applicable programme conditions, seat availability and the rounds conducted under JoSAA. The 2026 brochure explicitly said that qualifying, filling choices or participating in seat allocation did not guarantee admission.
A candidate should inspect the result for the applicable rank list and category, then use the official JoSAA opening/closing-rank data and current business rules when comparing programme choices. Do not compare a category rank with a Common Rank List cutoff, or an Advanced rank with a JEE Main-based admission cutoff. Counselling eligibility, Class XII admission conditions and certificate verification can apply even when the exam result is successful.
What to do after the result
-
Save the result record. Download or print the official result information. Record the roll number, marks, rank-list status and rank values displayed. Check that the identity details match your candidate record. Keep a backup copy for JoSAA and your own comparison work.
-
Check qualifying status and category carefully. Identify which rank list applies to you, and whether the displayed category and disability status match the claims supported by your certificates. If a field appears wrong, contact the official authority promptly and preserve the result and supporting documents. Do not assume the issue can be corrected during counselling.
-
Move to JoSAA separately. For IIT seat allocation, a JEE Advanced rank is used through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority process. Register on the official JoSAA portal, read that cycle’s business rules and complete choice filling and locking within the schedule. The exam result does not automatically submit course choices. In 2026, the JEE Advanced site announced JoSAA registration/choice filling separately and said it was mandatory for qualified candidates seeking an IIT seat.
-
Treat an AAT route separately. In the 2026 cycle, candidates who qualified JEE Advanced could register for the Architecture Aptitude Test if seeking B.Arch at IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT Kharagpur or IIT Roorkee. Passing AAT was required for those seats, while allocation used the JEE Advanced category-wise rank and the other admission conditions. AAT qualification did not produce a separate rank. The 2027 institutions, dates and rules need confirmation in that cycle’s brochure.
-
Use the final answer key for score interpretation. If you are comparing your response sheet to keys, use the final key and the official marking rules. A coaching estimate from a provisional key is not the reported score and cannot replace the result.
Result timeline and recheck limits
For 2026, candidate responses were scheduled to become available on 21 May at 17:00 IST. Provisional answer keys followed on 25 May at 10:00. Feedback was accepted through the candidate portal until 26 May at 17:00. Final answer keys and results were scheduled on 1 June at 10:00. This sequence gave candidates a defined opportunity to inspect responses and flag answer-key issues before the final score calculation. It is useful for planning, but it is not a forecast of 2027 dates.
The official process described for 2026 was feedback on provisional keys followed by final keys and marks calculated using those final keys. The sources reviewed do not establish a general post-result re-evaluation or routine answer-sheet rechecking right. Do not assume a coaching institute’s challenge process, a Main-exam correction window or an informal email creates such a right for JEE Advanced. Follow only the 2027 official notice for any result grievance channel and deadline.
Frequently asked questions
Does JEE Advanced publish a percentile? The 2026 brochure defines marks and rank lists using aggregate marks across the two papers and does not set out a percentile normalisation process for Advanced. Main percentile is a separate metric used in the standard route to the exam.
Will I receive a rank card by post or SMS? The 2026 brochure said ranks would be available online and text messages would be sent to registered mobile numbers, but individual rank cards would not be sent. Download the result yourself from the official portal.
If I meet the qualifying marks, am I admitted to an IIT? No. Qualification and rank-list inclusion do not guarantee an offer. You must participate in JoSAA, satisfy admission conditions and receive an available seat through the allocation rounds.
When will JEE Advanced 2027 results be released? No 2027 result date was announced as of 27 October 2026. Treat the 2026 schedule as historical context only and monitor the official JEE Advanced site for the new cycle.
