How to Prepare for CAT
To pass any examination, students must first know the syllabus. Try to understand the types of questions asked in CAT. Study the last few years' question papers. Use the internet, especially YouTube. Books from good publications help a lot. Get help from a student, a home tutor, or a coaching institute. At least 6-8 hours of study daily is needed. Watch the news on TV and read a newspaper regularly to stay updated.
How Much Time is Enough?
Experts and qualified students claim that six to nine months of smart study is enough to prepare for CAT. To get good marks, candidates need a high score. This doesn't mean answering all questions. Try to answer the maximum number of questions correctly. Many top scorers from past years passed by studying 6-8 hours daily for six months. You need to be aware of the exam pattern.
What Time It Needs
Generally, the CAT application process starts in August, and the exam is held in December. If you start in February or March, you have about 9-10 months for preparation. This is enough time for candidates planning to take the exam this year.
Time Management in CAT Exam
CAT requires good time management. There are many types of questions. First, solve the questions you are confident about. After that, tackle the ones that will take more time. This prevents wasting precious minutes. Do not attempt questions you are unsure about due to negative marking.
Tips for Preparing for CAT
You can score well in CAT with an appropriate study plan. Have a detailed strategy and identify your weaker areas. Practice test papers as much as possible to understand the pattern. Perform mock tests regularly. Strengthen your strong topics every 10-15 days. 8-10 hours of daily study is required, especially in the six months leading up to the exam. Management schools test your understanding of basic concepts. Do not put too much pressure on your brain. It needs to be calm for a high-level examination. As the exam day approaches, revise what you have already studied instead of learning new things. Nervousness will hinder your performance. Have faith in your preparation. While entering the examination hall, keep your admit card, pencil, pen, etc., with you to avoid last-minute trouble and pressure.
