B.Tech, B.S. and dual-degree applicants
For the JEE route, start with JEE (Main) 2027 Paper 1. The National Testing Agency's notice says the Session 1 form and fee window runs from 24 October to 22 November 2026 at 11:50 pm. Session 1 is scheduled for January 2027; NTA says it will issue a separate notice for Session 2, planned for April. JEE (Main) Paper 1 is also the eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is the examination used for IIT admission. Applying to JEE (Main) is not an IIT Bombay application and does not secure a JEE (Advanced) place.
The JEE (Advanced) 2027 brochure and schedule were not available on the official JEE (Advanced) site when checked. The latest published rules are for 2026, so use them as a reference only. In that cycle, Indian candidates generally had to place among the top 2,50,000 JEE (Main) Paper 1 candidates, satisfy the age and attempt limits, and meet the Class XII appearance rule. For an IIT seat, the separate board-performance test required Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and either at least 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates) or a category-wise top-20-percentile result. The exact year-of-appearance, age cut-off and other exceptions were cycle-specific. Do not use the 2026 dates or eligibility cut-offs as a 2027 guarantee.
A JEE (Advanced) rank is followed by JoSAA choice filling and seat allocation. Candidates list institutes and programmes in preference order and follow the allocation, acceptance, document and fee steps for the allotted seat. The 2026 JoSAA rules describe the process for that year; the 2027 schedule and rules should be checked when published. Treat programme choice as a ranked list: a seat depends on the candidate's rank, category and the options entered, not simply on qualifying the examination. Check the next JoSAA notice for the 2027 choice window and reporting instructions.
Bachelor of Design applicants
IIT Bombay's UCEED 2027 page is already live. It accepts candidates who passed Class XII in 2026 or are appearing in 2027, from any stream, to sit UCEED. B.Des admission then has its own conditions: the applicant must obtain a UCEED 2027 rank, meet the published age limit and satisfy the qualifying-examination year rule. For IIT Bombay, candidates from any Class XII stream may apply; some other participating institutes restrict applicants to particular subjects. Read the IIT Bombay row and the full category rules before ranking institutes.
The regular-fee registration deadline is 31 October 2026; late-fee registration closes 6 November at 5 pm. The exam is scheduled for 17 January 2027, results for 6 March, and the B.Des application process starts 15 March. UCEED qualification and the later B.Des application are separate steps: qualifying does not itself submit an institute choice. The page lists 21 April 2027 as the start of admission rounds and notes that seat-allocation dates are tentative. If design is your route, register now, then return for the B.Des application and round instructions after results.
Master's and doctoral routes
For M.Tech and M.Tech-Ph.D. dual degrees, the Academic Office identifies GATE as the entrance test. Applicants in TA, TAP, RA or RAP categories also register on COAP, where offers are made; IIT Bombay may separately require a written test or interview. Check each academic unit's requirements because qualifying GATE alone may not complete the institute application or selection.
For M.Sc. and M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes, IIT Bombay's 2026-27 page says admission is based on JAM followed by counselling. JAM qualification does not replace the programme's minimum educational qualification or the JOAPS application. M.Des applicants use CEED and a separate IIT Bombay application; the relevant design unit's current brochure controls any additional test or interview. The MBA route is different again: for the 2026-28 batch, SJMSOM required a bachelor's degree with 60% marks or CPI 6.5 (55% or CPI 6 for SC, ST and PwD applicants), plus CAT 2025. Applicants applied separately to SJMSOM, were shortlisted for interview using CAT, academics and work experience, then received a composite-score decision. Those are 2026-28 rules, not confirmed 2027-29 criteria.
Ph.D. applications are issued by semester and academic unit. IIT Bombay's 2026-27 spring page describes funding-linked categories, including teaching or research assistantships, fellowships, sponsored, external and self-financed candidates; selection uses a written test and/or interview as specified by the unit. Eligibility, funding, work commitments and deadlines vary by category. A GATE or fellowship result by itself is not an application to a particular doctoral vacancy.
What to do next
If you want B.Tech, B.S. or a JEE-based dual degree, submit JEE (Main) Session 1 by 22 November and monitor the official JEE (Advanced) and JoSAA sites for 2027 notices. If you want B.Des, submit UCEED registration by 31 October at the regular fee or by 6 November with the late fee, then complete the separate B.Des application after results. For postgraduate study, identify the programme first, then track its exam, IIT Bombay application portal, department screening and offer process as separate steps. No 2027-28-wide IIT Bombay application calendar was published on the sources checked; use the programme page and notice for your exact degree, category and intake before paying or relying on a deadline.
