Start with the degree route, not a single institute-wide application
IIT Jodhpur does not describe one common admission form for all its degrees. Its official Admission Links page separates routes such as JEE (Advanced), GATE, JAM, M.Sc., M.Tech., Master of Design, Ph.D., ITEP, MBA, MS by Research and international-student applications. The practical first step is to choose the programme and applicant category, then follow the current notice linked for that route. A test name on the institute’s link page identifies a route; it does not by itself establish the current eligibility threshold, seat allocation rule, application deadline or selection formula.
For undergraduate engineering applicants, IIT Jodhpur’s B.Tech page lists the degree and specialisation choices and links applicants to Admission, Eligibility, Important Dates and Apply Online information. The institute’s admission-link directory also lists JEE (Advanced) and its brochure. The linked materials and the applicable central counselling notice should be checked together for the target year. This guide does not carry forward an old rank, board-mark condition, category rule or seat-choice date as a current requirement because those details must be read from the relevant year’s official documents.
The 2026-27 programme catalogue lists B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Bioscience and Bioengineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Materials, Civil and Infrastructure, Chemical, Electronics and Aerospace Engineering. It also lists B.S. programmes in Engineering Chemistry and Engineering Physics, both started in 2026. Programme availability and the route used to apply are separate questions: confirm the exact programme appears in the current-cycle list and that the linked admission notice applies to your applicant type.
Postgraduate admissions are organised by programme and cycle
The Office of Postgraduate Admissions publishes a programme directory spanning departments, schools and centres. The saved 2026-27 listing includes M.Tech. programmes in areas such as Bioscience and Bioengineering, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Engineering, Cyber Physical Systems, Communication Systems, Microelectronics and VLSI, Data and Computational Sciences, Robotics, Thermofluids Engineering, Quantum Technologies and other specialist areas. It also lists M.Sc. programmes, MS by Research, M.Des. and Ph.D. programmes. The list is useful for discovering the portfolio, but the postgraduate page says admission information is posted there regularly; a programme’s current notice, not the directory alone, controls eligibility and selection.
IIT Jodhpur’s admissions link page points applicants to GATE, JAM, M.Sc., M.Tech., Master of Design, Ph.D., MBA and MS by Research information. Those labels should not be collapsed into one “GATE admission” rule. The relevant institute notice may specify a qualifying test, prior degree or discipline, marks, shortlisting, written test, interview, additional form or other conditions for that particular programme and intake. The source pages captured for this guide do not establish one universal threshold or selection weighting for all postgraduate applicants, so this page does not invent one.
The 2026-27 programme directory recorded physical reporting and document verification for new postgraduate students on 21-24 July 2026 and for new undergraduate students on 27-29 July 2026. These are historical dates for that intake, not 2027-28 deadlines. For a future applicant, use them only as evidence that reporting instructions are cycle-specific; do not plan travel or document submission from last year’s calendar.
A practical application sequence
- Identify the exact degree, specialisation and intake from the current academic-programme catalogue.
- Open the matching admission route from IIT Jodhpur’s Admission Links page. Follow the route-specific official test or application portal named there.
- Read the notice for your category and programme. Confirm qualifying degree or subjects, minimum marks where stated, test validity, shortlisting stages, application materials, fees, deadlines and whether a separate institute application is required.
- Keep the central test or counselling instructions alongside IIT Jodhpur’s notice. Where a route uses a common examination or counselling body, that body’s schedule and the institute’s programme notice may answer different parts of the process.
- After selection, use the offer letter and current joining instructions for reporting, document verification, fee payment and accommodation steps. The institute’s saved 2026-27 calendar is not a substitute for the next cycle’s dates.
This sequence is a way to verify the responsible documents, not a claim that every programme has identical stages. The institute’s current PG page exposes separate links for admission details, advertisements, shortlisted candidates, written-test/interview schedules and criteria, provisionally selected candidates and waiting lists. Applicants should check the relevant programme’s live notice and result pages, since an advertisement or schedule can be updated after an initial announcement.
What to verify before submitting
Use the IIT Jodhpur Admission Links directory as the starting point for programme-specific routes, the Office of Academic Affairs programme list to confirm the portfolio, and the Postgraduate Admissions page for current PG notices and results. The B.Tech programme page provides undergraduate programme and applicant-information navigation. Open the individual notice itself before relying on an eligibility or deadline summary.
Before paying or uploading documents, check that the notice is for the right academic year, programme, category and admission route. Record the date and version of the notice, retain the submitted application and payment confirmation, and monitor the institute page for revised shortlisting, test/interview or reporting schedules. If the route or eligibility for your case is unclear, contact the programme’s official admission office using the details in the current notice. The sources captured here establish the institute’s route directory, programme portfolio and 2026 reporting dates, but they do not provide a complete, common 2027-28 rulebook for every degree; that uncertainty is why the current notice must govern your application.
