IIT Jodhpur’s latest directly retrieved regular-student fee schedule is for academic year 2026-27. Its first-page grand total is ₹48,050 for a hosteller or ₹35,800 for a day scholar, before tuition. The table labels tuition separately as “As per Annexure-I”; therefore neither grand total is a complete semester bill. The figures also exclude the ₹2,000 experimental and professional development fee that the schedule applies only to B.Sc.-B.Ed. students.
For a new student, the hosteller/day-scholar totals comprise a one-time admission fee of ₹3,800, one-time convocation fee of ₹4,000, semester fee of ₹32,250 or ₹20,000, and one-time refundable deposits of ₹8,000. Adding these components reproduces the printed totals. The one-time admission fee, convocation fee and refundable deposit apply to new students only. The institute says semester-fee components are under revision and subject to change, so treat these as the published 2026-27 schedule, not a quote for a later intake.
The practical budgeting step is to add the correct tuition row for the degree and personal eligibility, then check the latest fee notice before accepting an offer or paying. Do not multiply a first-semester total by the programme duration: the notice does not establish that every component remains constant in future semesters, and some items are explicitly one-time.
For B.Tech and B.S., the 2026-27 schedule sets per-semester tuition at ₹0 where family income is below ₹1 lakh, ₹33,333 for income between ₹1 lakh and ₹5 lakh, and ₹1,00,000 above ₹5 lakh. The document’s income bands use “below”, “between” and “more than”; applicants at a boundary should confirm the institute’s interpretation and required income documents rather than infer a rule from the abbreviated table. These figures are tuition only, not the non-tuition components above.
Other examples from the same schedule illustrate why a single “IIT Jodhpur fee” figure is misleading. B.Sc.-B.Ed. tuition is ₹50,000 per semester, and its ₹2,000 experimental/professional development fee is separate. M.Sc. regular tuition is ₹6,500 per semester, while sponsored or part-time M.Sc. is ₹13,000. Regular M.Tech. students eligible for assistantship/fellowship are listed at ₹13,000; sponsored, part-time, part-time-online or project-sponsored M.Tech. is ₹26,000. Executive M.Tech. is ₹39,000, while self-sponsored M.Tech. admitted before July 2023 is also shown at ₹39,000. The schedule lists MBA entrants admitted before 2025 at ₹2,00,000 and those admitted from 2025 at ₹2,25,000 per semester.
At the doctoral level, the listed Ph.D. tuition is ₹10,000 per semester for full-time regular students with fellowship, ₹20,000 for sponsored or part-time students, ₹20,000 for external candidates, and ₹5,000 for institute staff. Research masters and dual-degree routes have their own rows: MS by Research is ₹10,000 regular or ₹20,000 part-time; M.Sc.-M.Tech. dual degree is ₹10,000 regular or ₹20,000 sponsored/part-time; M.Tech.-Ph.D. dual degree is ₹10,000 regular or ₹20,000 sponsored/part-time/part-time-online. The institute also lists M.Des. at ₹13,000 and self-sponsored M.Des. at ₹44,250 per semester. These are programme-category rows, not interchangeable rates.
The schedule provides further programme-specific rows for medical technology and other dual-degree routes. Check the exact row for the offer you receive, including whether your admission is regular, sponsored, part-time, external, self-sponsored or executive. Some rows distinguish admissions by date; a rate published for an older cohort should not be projected onto a new one without a current notice.
The fee document states that SC, ST and PwD students are exempt from tuition. It expressly excludes self-sponsored, project-sponsored, sponsored, external, executive, working-professional and part-time-online students from that exemption. The exemption concerns tuition; the document does not say that the non-tuition semester fee, admission fee or refundable deposits disappear. Students should therefore calculate these separately and ask the Office of Academic Affairs how the exemption applies to their specific programme category and documentation.
The main table gives both hosteller and day-scholar non-tuition totals. Its note says part-time, part-time-online and external students pay the day-scholar semester fee, with an option to pay the difference for hostel accommodation. Do not assume that every other category may choose a day-scholar bill simply because the column is printed. Verify the accommodation classification and whether hostel charges or mess charges are billed separately for the intended programme; the cited schedule does not provide a single all-in residence-and-food total.
For dual-degree students, the schedule says B.Tech-M.Tech. and B.Tech-MBA students pay the B.Tech fee through semester 8 and the M.Tech./MBA fee from semester 9. This transition matters more for total-course budgeting than multiplying the initial rate across the full degree. Even then, a full-programme estimate needs the relevant annual fee schedules and any later revisions, which this 2026-27 document does not guarantee.
For a student who withdraws after paying, the schedule says ₹5,000 is deducted as processing charges only if the request is received by the date specified in the offer letter by the relevant department, school or centre. If the request comes after that date, it says only refundable deposits, mess fee if any, and convocation fee are refundable. The operative date is individual to the offer letter; this page does not substitute a general calendar deadline. Obtain written confirmation from the responsible academic unit before relying on a refund estimate.
The published schedule says the amount is based on the fee in force when the offer letter is issued and remains subject to institute revision. Before paying, compare the offer letter with the current Office of Academic Affairs fee-structure page and open the notice for the correct academic year. If the PDF and your offer letter differ, ask the institute which schedule governs your admission and retain the response. Also verify the exact programme category, family-income band where applicable, tuition exemption, accommodation status and one-time charges. This avoids treating a published component total as either a guaranteed future bill or the full cost of attendance.
IIT Jodhpur’s Office of Students lists scholarship channels, including central and state schemes and institute fee remission information, but eligibility and current application conditions should be checked through the relevant notice. A possible scholarship is not a reduction to apply automatically when estimating the fee due.
