Start with the fee reduction already specified for your programme
Scholarship support at IIT Jodhpur sits across several different channels: tuition exemptions in the Institute’s fee schedule, government scholarships coordinated through its Office of Students, external awards, and doctoral fellowship or research support. These are not interchangeable. A tuition exemption changes a specified fee component under stated conditions; it does not by itself provide living expenses. A separate scholarship has its own selection and application process, while a research grant is not necessarily a personal stipend.
For the 2026-27 regular fee schedule, IIT Jodhpur lists B.Tech./B.S. tuition at ₹0 per semester for family income below ₹1 lakh, ₹33,333 for income between ₹1 lakh and ₹5 lakh, and ₹1,00,000 above ₹5 lakh. The same schedule states that SC, ST and PwD students are exempt from tuition. It then expressly excludes self-sponsored, project-sponsored, sponsored, external, executive, working-professional and part-time-online students from the exemption. These are tuition rules in the published 2026-27 schedule, not a complete fee waiver: semester charges, hostel status, one-time charges and refundable deposits are treated separately. The schedule is subject to revision and should not be assumed to govern a later intake. IIT Jodhpur 2026-27 regular fee schedule
The income bands above apply to B.Tech./B.S. in this notice; do not extend them to other programmes without a matching current rule. The category exemption is also expressly limited by programme mode in the document. If your offer is for a sponsored, part-time, external or other non-regular route, ask the Office of Academic Affairs which exemption rules apply before treating tuition as zero. The Institute’s scholarship page describes its Office of Students as a communication and assistance channel for applicable state and central schemes, but the applicant still needs to meet the external scheme’s terms and the Institute’s process. Government schemes: use the current scheme notice, not an old campus link
The Institute’s Scholarships page lists Top Class scholarship channels for SC and ST students and links a National Scholarship Portal. Its currently captured notices are explicitly for financial year 2023-24, including the National Scholarship for Higher Education of ST students and the Top Class Education Scheme for SC students. Those notices are useful as evidence that these channels have been listed by IIT Jodhpur; they do not establish present application availability, continuing award terms, or that an applicant will be selected. The linked application portal is the Government’s National Scholarship Portal. Check the scheme’s current-year notification for eligible institution/course lists, income and category rules, covered components, renewal requirements, documents and dates. If the portal or Institute requires verification, follow the current instructions rather than relying on an old downloaded notification.
The Institute page says its Office of Students can communicate and guide students applying for applicable aid. For practical planning, first identify whether your likely support is an Institute fee exemption, a central or state scholarship, or another sponsor’s award. Then compare the current notice’s eligible category and course against your admission offer, and confirm any document-verification step with IIT Jodhpur. Do not count a scholarship as money available until the relevant authority confirms eligibility and award status.
External awards and doctoral research support
IIT Jodhpur’s page also links an FFE Scholarship Programme notice labelled FY 2023-24 and points to the Foundation for Excellence website. Treat that reference as an external programme lead, not a current IIT Jodhpur award or a promise that the same intake is accepting applications. Visit Foundation for Excellence for its current programme, student eligibility and application instructions; ask the Institute only about any campus verification it must complete.
For research-track students, the Institute lists UGC-CSIR JRF/SRF funding and links general PMRF research-grant utilization guidelines. It also links the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship site. A research grant’s permitted use and a fellowship’s selection or stipend terms are separate matters. The IIT Jodhpur page’s grant-utilization document is not itself proof of an individual PMRF award, current stipend amount, or guaranteed admission route. Research applicants should check current PMRF eligibility and selection details, and separately verify the fellowship or assistantship attached to their specific programme offer. The 2026-27 fee schedule distinguishes some full-time regular postgraduate routes by assistantship/fellowship eligibility, which is another reason to read the exact programme row and offer rather than infer financial support from the degree name.
A safe application and budgeting sequence
- Read the fee notice for the correct academic year and programme mode. Separate tuition from semester charges and one-time items; keep the fee schedule’s exclusions in view.
- Check whether the published tuition exemption applies to your category, family-income band and programme. Ask the Institute which evidence and verification process it currently requires; the cited fee notice does not provide a complete application checklist.
- For a government or external scholarship, use its current official notification and portal. Confirm the eligible course/institution list, dates, renewal rules and what the award covers.
- Keep a copy of the application and verification acknowledgements. Do not assume that applying automatically changes an Institute bill or creates a payment extension.
- Before paying, obtain a written fee calculation for your offer and ask the relevant Institute office how an approved external award is credited, if applicable.
The public IIT Jodhpur Scholarships page includes historical 2023-24 notices and live links to programme organizations, while the directly captured fee schedule covers academic year 2026-27. No currently open scholarship deadline or complete 2027-28 award package is established by these sources. Confirm current availability with the Institute and the administering scheme before making a financial commitment.
