First identify which kind of financial support you need
MANIT’s Scholarship page is a notice board and document directory, not one universal award with a single income rule or application form. It links government schemes, institute financial assistance, outside scholarship notices, loan information, a common undertaking form and a scholarship-scheme document. Those routes can have different eligible programmes, categories, income limits, deadlines and renewal steps. Start with the exact scheme notice, then use MANIT’s Scholarship Cell instructions for any institute-side verification or document submission. MANIT Scholarship page.
Keep scholarships distinct from loans. The page lists Vidya Lakshmi loan information as well as scholarship notices. A loan may help finance study but must be repaid under its terms; it is not a grant or a tuition waiver. Similarly, an institute fee-support scheme is not automatically the same as a centrally funded scholarship. Before assuming that a fee will be covered, check the specific scheme’s coverage, whether support depends on available funds or a limited slot, and whether money is paid to the student or the institution.
The examples below have different publication years. The OBC/EBC/DNT Top Class scheme file is explicitly for 2026-27, while the Poor Student Fund circular is a 2025 policy snapshot. The institute’s undertaking form is marked 2026-27. These documents help explain the routes and paperwork, but they do not establish a 2027-28 award calendar or guarantee that an application window is currently open. Check the latest notice before applying.
Top Class Education scheme for OBC, EBC and DNT students
MANIT’s Scholarship page links a Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment notice titled for 2026-27 implementation of the Top Class Education scheme for OBC, EBC and DNT students. The attached allocation table lists 62 phase-I slots for MANIT in that year. This is the institution’s published allocation, not a promise that 62 students will qualify, that all slots remain available, or that an individual applicant will receive an award. The scheme document says awards are limited to allocated slots and uses inter-se merit when eligible applicants exceed the allocation. MANIT’s 2026-27 OBC/EBC/DNT scheme notice.
The central scheme document sets the principal threshold at total annual family income up to ₹2.5L for OBC/EBC/DNT students admitted to a full-time prescribed course at a notified institution. It also provides for merit selection within the available institutional slots, a 30% allocation for eligible female students within the stated rules, and a maximum of two siblings in a family receiving the benefit. The document describes the scheme as continuing subject to satisfactory performance, but students must apply each year, including for renewal. It also says benefits can stop when a student is not promoted to the next class. Read the complete current scheme and MANIT notice for exceptions and document rules; meeting the income threshold alone is not an award decision.
The same 2026-27 PDF lists MANIT at 62 phase-I slots. Its scheme rules explain that first-year selection can use entrance-examination merit, while later-year balances may be offered based on previous-year results under the stated priority. That makes the application sequence different for a new entrant and a continuing student. If you are eligible, check the National Scholarship Portal instructions and MANIT’s current verification notice for the relevant intake, then keep evidence of admission, category, income and the qualifying merit record. Do not use the phase-I slot count as a current vacancy count.
MANIT Poor Student Fund: a separate institute route
MANIT’s Poor Student Fund circular is a separate institute-administered assistance route. The published circular describes full-time regular UG and PG students as eligible to apply, with stated exceptions for M.Tech, M.Plan and Ph.D. students receiving fellowship, assistantship or stipend; it also names MCA, MBA and M.Sc. students not receiving scholarships as eligible. It sets an annual family-income ceiling of ₹2.5L, requires applicants to have cleared previous semester examinations and meet minimum attendance, and excludes students already receiving another scholarship, stipend or fellowship. Because the document is a 2025 circular, treat these as that circular’s rules, not as confirmed rules for a later academic year. Poor Student Fund circular.
The circular says assistance is merit-based and subject to fund availability. Tuition or other institute-fee support depends on the committee’s decision and available funds, and tuition support is described only when another scheme does not already cover it. The amount is therefore not a fixed award that every eligible student can budget against. The circular also states that assistance applies only for the current academic year. Where an applicant is also applying for another government scholarship, the circular requires a copy of that application; if the student later receives other financial assistance, the Poor Student Fund amount must be returned under the undertaking. Read the current circular carefully before combining support sources.
The application material in the circular calls for income evidence, previous marksheets and supporting documents relevant to the claim, with endorsements and an undertaking. It notes that incomplete or late applications will not be considered, but the cited document does not provide a verified 2027-28 deadline. Ask the Scholarship Cell for the current year’s application window and form rather than using an old circular’s timing or assuming that a past application route remains open.
Prepare the institute form and supporting documents
MANIT’s 2026-27 scholarship undertaking form asks students to identify the scheme and applied session and records the student’s programme, year, scholar number and category. The listed supporting documents include the scheme application, current institute fee slip, current family-income certificate, applicable caste/EWS/PwD certificates, domicile certificate, previous-year marksheets and hostel certificate. For first-year applicants, the form separately calls for JEE CRL rank and admission slip. It also requests identity details and information about siblings applying under the scheme. Which items apply depends on the scheme and the student’s circumstances; follow the exact form and notice rather than submitting an incomplete generic bundle. 2026-27 MANIT scholarship undertaking form.
The same form directs students to generate a scholarship reference number through a MANIT form using their institute student email. It says the printed undertaking and required documents are accepted from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Scholarship Cell / Academic Section in the Estate Building. These are the instructions printed on the 2026-27 form. Confirm that MANIT has not published a replacement form, altered the submission process or announced a different window before you travel to submit documents.
A practical file checklist is to keep readable copies of the current scheme notice, completed application and undertaking, current income and category records, admission and fee evidence, marksheets, and any course-specific or hostel document requested. Preserve the reference-number email, portal acknowledgement, submission proof and later institute communications. Use the name, scholar number, applied session and scheme consistently on each document. If a certificate is pending or its format is unclear, ask the Scholarship Cell before the notice closes instead of assuming that an older certificate or an email alone will be accepted.
Renewal, overlap and truthful declarations
Renewal is not always automatic. The 2026-27 Top Class OBC/EBC/DNT document requires students to apply each year and ties continuation to satisfactory performance and promotion. The MANIT undertaking records previous scholarship awards by year, session and amount, while the Poor Student Fund circular has its own restrictions on receiving support from another source. These are scheme-specific conditions: do not assume that one rule governs every government or private award. Read both the external scheme terms and the current MANIT instructions before accepting more than one benefit.
Report previous applications and awards accurately. Keep the scheme name, session, amount received and any award or renewal communication. If a scholarship is approved after MANIT assistance has been paid, promptly ask the Scholarship Cell how the applicable undertaking handles adjustment or repayment. The Poor Student Fund circular explicitly requires repayment if a student later receives other financial assistance after using that fund. The 2026-27 common undertaking also contains a declaration about other scholarships, so read its exact wording and ask the institute if you are unsure how it applies to your circumstances.
Income, category, admission and academic progress evidence should match the student and session for which the application is made. A correct document set can still be insufficient if a scheme has limited slots, a merit ranking, a separate portal verification or a funding cap. Treat institute verification and the scheme authority’s final award decision as separate steps, and do not subtract an unconfirmed scholarship from your fee budget.
What is confirmed for the 2027-28 intake?
As of 1 November 2026, the official pages reviewed provide a 2026-27 MANIT undertaking form, a 2026-27 OBC/EBC/DNT notice and a 2025 Poor Student Fund circular. They do not confirm a 2027-28 application calendar, current award availability, or a new Poor Student Fund rule set. Some third-party scholarship titles shown on MANIT’s directory have dates that have already passed; the listing itself is not proof that those applications remain open.
For a future intake, check MANIT’s Scholarship page and the relevant government portal for the current notice, then confirm eligibility, application mode, deadline, required evidence, renewal terms and whether the benefit can be combined with other aid. Ask the Scholarship Cell or Academic Section to resolve any mismatch between an external scheme notice and institute instructions. Until a current award is approved, treat scholarship support as possible assistance rather than guaranteed funding.
