Begin with the programme notice
MPT admission is organised by each university or its designated admission authority. The first decision is not “Which MPT entrance exam should I take?” but “Which institution and specialty am I applying to, and what does its current notice require?” A programme may select through a university entrance test, CUET, qualifying-degree merit or another approved route. The method can change between academic sessions.
Delhi University’s MPT regulations state that selection may be based on CUET or another mode approved by the University from time to time. The programme-specific eligibility and course rules are detailed in its official regulations document. For a different 2026-27 example, Jagan Nath University’s programme table lists the MPT selection procedure as “Q.E. Merit.” BLDE (Deemed to be University) published an MPT application notice with an online submission route. These are three institution-specific descriptions; they do not define one nationwide entrance test or common merit formula.
Check eligibility before paying
Confirm that your undergraduate physiotherapy award is accepted, then check marks, internship, course length and any equivalence rule. If the prospectus accepts BPT or BSc (PT), verify the exact wording rather than assuming that another allied-health bachelor’s degree fits. Delhi University’s regulations include degree-duration and internship terms, a bridge-course route and a separate long-work-experience condition for certain shorter programmes. BLDE’s 2026-27 notice states BPT with a minimum 50% aggregate subject to its NCAHP-related eligibility conditions. The two requirements are not interchangeable; one provider’s eligibility text is not a shortcut for another.
Eligibility is only the first gate. Check the current application window for the chosen stream, whether an entrance paper or score is required, how the merit list is prepared, what rank or document verification steps follow and whether seats are allocated by counselling. If a university advertises several MPT streams, confirm whether you select a specialty on the application form, rank multiple choices or receive allocation after the common selection process.
A practical application sequence
First, download the current prospectus and programme notice from the university’s official website. Confirm the intake year, campus, award name, specialization, eligibility and selection route. A course profile can remain online after its application window closes, so compare the notice dates with today’s date before planning a submission. BLDE’s listed AY2026-27 application dates, for instance, run from 18 August to a 21 September 2026 deadline and are historical by late October 2026; they should not be described as upcoming.
Next, assemble academic and identity records. Commonly requested documents include the BPT/BSc (PT) certificate or provisional proof, mark sheets, internship completion certificate, category documents when applicable, transfer or migration documents and a photo identity record. Universities can request additional material, such as a work-experience certificate, equivalence letter, fitness record or professional registration proof. Follow the actual prospectus; this list is a planning aid rather than a universal document requirement.
Complete the form using the same names, dates and marks shown on the supporting documents. Upload files in the required format and size, save the payment receipt and download a copy of the submitted application. If your institution uses CGPA, apply the official conversion formula rather than converting it yourself. If an internship or final result is pending, ask whether provisional participation is allowed and when the final document must be produced.
Entrance examination or merit pathway
Where an entrance test is used, confirm the correct paper, syllabus, examination date, application portal and whether a separate university registration is necessary. The Delhi University course regulations cite CUET or another mode approved by the University, which leaves the operative route dependent on the current approved notice. Do not prepare for a test merely because a previous cohort used it. Search results, coaching pages and old admission calendars can preserve a superseded process.
Where selection is based on qualifying-degree merit, verify which marks count, how tie-breaks work, when provisional lists are released and whether applicants must appear for counselling. For a programme with several specialities, the merit position may interact with preference order and the available seats in each stream. A general statement that “admission is by merit” does not answer how candidates are allocated between Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Sports or other specialities.
Counselling, verification and offer acceptance
After applying, monitor the official admission portal and email address used for the form. If the process includes a merit list or counselling round, note the reporting window, choice-filling steps, seat acceptance amount and conditions for retaining or surrendering a seat. Keep the original documents ready. If the authority flags a marksheet, internship period or category record, respond within its stated correction window.
An offer may be conditional on degree completion, internship, original document verification or payment by a fixed date. Read the offer letter and fee terms before accepting. Check whether the amount due is tuition, an application or seat-confirmation payment, a refundable deposit or a combination. Ask how the offer changes if a later counselling round produces a different specialty or campus.
When requirements are unclear
Contact the programme office with a precise question and attach the relevant part of your transcript or degree information. Ask for a written answer about degree equivalence, internship acceptance, mark computation or the current examination route. If the answer relies on an ordinance or regulation, request its title and effective session. A phone conversation can be helpful, but a saved email or official portal response is easier to rely on when submitting documents later.
Do not assume that the application process at a private university, a central university and a state university will look alike. One may collect applications directly, another may link its seats to a common test, and another may use an entrance test plus counselling. Even where two courses have the same MPT title, their specialty, affiliation, eligibility and seat-allocation rules may differ. Make a small comparison sheet for each target institution so dates and requirements do not get mixed.
A final application check
Before clicking submit, make sure the academic year is correct, the intended specialization is available, your undergraduate award meets the wording, the internship proof is ready and the entrance or merit requirements are understood. Confirm the fee basis and refund conditions, and keep the prospectus and receipt together. Then follow updates from the admission authority until the selection process is complete.
This routine will not make selection predictable; seats, cut-offs and admission rules can change. It does prevent avoidable errors such as applying under the wrong stream, missing a counselling date, relying on an outdated exam route or discovering too late that a bridge course is not accepted. The university’s current notice remains the authority for that intake.
