Why MPT fees need a careful comparison
There is no single tuition amount for an MPT. The total depends on the university, campus, chosen specialty, student category, academic session and the charges included in the fee table. Some institutions quote an annual tuition figure, some quote a semester charge, and some list each payment installment with additional compulsory fees. Compare like with like and do not treat a first payment as the entire course cost.
The Gauhati City University 2026-27 fee schedule lists four semester instalments for the MPT and a schedule total of ₹1,50,000. Its table separates ₹72,000 total tuition from registration, admission, library and IT, development, student welfare, refundable caution, electricity and examination charges. The schedule also shows dates for the later payments, including January 2028 for the fourth semester instalment. This is a fee example from one university and one intake, not a national average or a promise that every charge will remain unchanged.
Read the fee basis before comparing numbers
Different official tables illustrate why the basis matters. Jagan Nath University’s 2026-27 table lists MPT at ₹70,000 per semester. That is a semester amount, not a two-year total. Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation identifies ₹2,50,000 per annum as tuition for MPT Musculoskeletal Science at its Puducherry campus. It is a named stream’s annual tuition, not the full programme cost across every MPT specialty. These amounts cannot be placed in one range unless the underlying period, services and compulsory charges are made comparable.
IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur groups MPT with several other professional programmes in its 2026-27 fee table. The MPT column shows a first instalment of ₹93,100, a refundable security amount of ₹2,000 and other fees of ₹14,900; the second-installment entry shown for MPT is “NIL.” The table is not a simple tuition-per-year quote. Review the complete schedule and ask the university how the combined entry is calculated before treating its numbers as a total.
What can be part of the bill
Look for tuition, admission, registration, examination, library or technology, development, student welfare and laboratory charges. A refundable caution deposit is money paid initially but may be returned only under stated conditions. Application fees are separate from course fees. Hostel, food, transport, uniforms, equipment, clinical placement travel and project expenses may be billed separately or paid directly to another provider.
The GCU schedule makes these categories visible: the first MPT payment includes admission and registration charges, semester tuition, library/IT, welfare, refundable caution, electricity and examination fees. Later terms show a different mix, and its full four-payment total combines the listed items. When comparing offers, write down the amount and its basis beside each item. An annual tuition amount should not be mistaken for an annual bill if the institution adds compulsory fees; a total with refundable security should not be treated as wholly non-refundable tuition.
How to estimate your own cost
Start from the latest programme-specific schedule for your intake. Add tuition for every semester or year that the schedule covers, then add compulsory non-tuition charges. Keep refundable security separate. Check whether a scholarship, category rate or payment plan applies, whether the second year can rise and whether there are charges for repeat examinations or extended dissertation work.
Ask what happens if you change specialty, withdraw, take leave or miss a payment deadline. Read the refund policy and identify which amount is forfeited. If the programme lists one annual amount but charges in instalments, confirm whether the instalments sum to that amount or whether other fees are due in addition. Keep written confirmation with the official prospectus so that an offer-letter total can be checked against the published table.
Fees and academic fit
Cost is only one part of programme choice. A lower tuition figure may not include hostel or clinical travel, while a higher figure may include more services or facilities. Confirm the specialty you want is actually offered in your session, whether practical placements are included, and whether the university’s clinical and research environment fits your learning goals. Ask if students pay additional charges for dissertation review, conference participation or external postings.
The institution may also quote a fee for a broader category such as “postgraduate professional programmes.” Verify that the MPT is included and that the schedule covers your campus and category. The Jamia Millia Islamia course page directs students to the current session prospectus for fees; it does not publish a tuition number on the programme page itself. In that situation, use the current prospectus or written fee statement rather than an older number from an unrelated source.
A quick comparison sheet
For each offer, record: programme and specialty; academic year; tuition per semester or year; admission and registration charges; exam and service fees; refundable deposit; hostel and transport; payment dates; refund rules; and any later-year increase. Then calculate the expected payable total using only the components and periods the institution states. If an item is missing, leave it marked “not stated” and ask the admissions or accounts office rather than filling the gap with a guess.
The published examples here are historical snapshots for AY2026-27. They show how fee tables can differ, but they do not predict the charge for a future intake. A personalised estimate requires the exact campus, stream, student category, accommodation choice and current fee schedule. Confirm those details before making a deposit or comparing financial aid.
