CLAT 2027 registration is completed online through the Consortium’s official website. Applications opened on 3 August 2026 and the stated deadline is 31 October 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The form must be complete and paid by the deadline. The Consortium says incomplete applications will not be considered. Start early enough to resolve login, document or payment problems while the application window is open. CLAT 2027 UG instructions
Before you create the account
Decide whether you are applying for UG or PG and check the relevant eligibility page. The UG route requires the qualifying 10+2 examination; the PG route requires an LL.B. or equivalent. Do not select based only on the fact that both tests are called CLAT. The application instructions say that programme, category and BPL fields cannot be changed after the form is submitted and paid, and updates are not entertained after closure.
Prepare the information exactly as it appears on your certificates and identity documents. The Consortium specifically advises that the candidate’s and parents’ names be spelt as they appear on certificates, marksheets or identity proof. Check that your email address and mobile number are personal and accessible, because account registration uses an OTP sent to the registered mobile number. Keep access to those details through the examination and admission process.
Registration and form completion
Register on the CLAT 2027 website using your mobile number and email address. Validate the mobile number through the OTP and use the password created during registration to log in. Complete the candidate profile and select the correct programme, category and BPL status where applicable. Enter educational details carefully and choose test preferences using the current list in the portal.
Upload a recent front-facing passport-size photograph with a plain background and your signature. Candidates applying under SC/ST/OBC, PwD or BPL categories must upload the relevant certificate specified in the instructions. The Consortium says documents and certificates should be uploaded as PDF files. It notes that the photograph and signature need not be attested for the online form. Original certificates must later be submitted to the allotted university in the form and manner that university specifies.
Before payment, review all entries and open each uploaded file to confirm it is legible and belongs to the correct field. Check the programme, category, BPL selection, name spellings, contact details and test-city choices. Preserve a copy of the form and a note of any detail that will need verification at admission. A correct exam application does not replace the certificate checks that an NLU may apply later.
Fee and payment
The CLAT 2027 instructions list an application fee of ₹4,000 for General/OBC candidates and ₹3,500 for SC/ST/BPL/PwD candidates. The fee can be paid online. Previous years’ question papers cost ₹500 separately. The candidate bears bank transaction charges, which are displayed by the payment gateway. The application fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable. These are application charges only; they are not tuition or the total cost of an NLU programme.
After paying, confirm that the portal records a successful transaction and completed submission. Save the receipt and the final application PDF. If a payment appears debited but the form status remains incomplete, use the official help desk and retain the transaction reference. Avoid sending passwords or payment details to unofficial support accounts.
Final checks and help
Once the form is submitted and paid, the Consortium says the programme, category and BPL fields cannot be changed. Changes are not accepted after the closing date. Do not rely on a correction window unless the Consortium announces one for this cycle. If you need registration support, use the help desk contact published on the official CLAT website and include your programme and registration details through its designated form.
For admission, reservation and fee questions beyond the exam application, consult each NLU’s current brochure and official admissions page. The Consortium states that universities may set their own intake, reservation policies, fees and programme rules. A valid application means you may sit the examination; it does not by itself establish admission eligibility or reserve a seat.
