GATE 2027 dates at a glance
IIT Madras has published a revised GATE 2027 calendar. GOAPS opened on Pending verification. The regular registration deadline was extended to 5 October, the late-fee deadline to 12 October, and a special late-fee window ran from 10:30 am on 15 October to 10:29 am on 16 October. Registration is closed. The official dates page records earlier revisions with strike-through formatting, so use the active entries rather than the first date shown in the row. The notifications page confirms portal closure.
The application portal closed on 16 October. The current candidate-facing step is defect rectification through Pending verification. This window is for candidates whose applications have defects identified during scrutiny; it is not a general reopening for new registrations. The homepage asks applicants to monitor GOAPS and email, correct defects using the message received, and check the status again. For unverified DigiLocker users, consent and ID-proof steps may be required. An application marked “Under Scrutiny” is not the same as a rejected application; follow the portal’s message and the relevant zonal contact details.
What the exam dates mean
GATE 2027 is scheduled across six calendar dates in February, over three weekends. Those are examination days across the full set of papers, not a six-day obligation for each candidate. The exact paper-to-day, session and centre assignment should be checked in the detailed timetable and the candidate’s admit card when issued. The dates page does not yet give the admit-card download date, which remains TBA. The city-allotment notification is listed separately for 4 January 2027, so do not confuse a city announcement with admit-card release.
The result date is scheduled for 19 March 2027. It is subject to change. Candidates should use the current IIT Madras notice for any revision rather than carrying dates forward from GATE 2026. That previous calendar was revised after release, including its registration, admit-card and exam entries. This history is a reason to check for updates, not evidence that the 2027 dates will change. Application rectification, data correction, city notification, admit-card release, examination and result are separate stages. The date for the separate fee-based data-correction window is TBA; it is not the same as defect rectification, which is currently scheduled through 31 October.
What to do now
If you completed registration, log into GOAPS and check application status while scrutiny is under way. If a defect notice appears, follow its instructions and correct the item before the published deadline. Retain access to the DigiLocker account used for registration because official notifications say future communication will use that account. Candidates who do not see a defect notice should confirm that the portal shows the application as accepted; a payment receipt alone does not show that scrutiny is complete.
Before travelling, wait for city allotment and the admit card. Check the assigned city, centre, paper, reporting instructions and session against official documents. Arrange travel using the actual centre details rather than a preferred city or guessed shift. The GATE 2027 site is the source for revised dates, while GOAPS provides candidate-specific application status.
