Start with the recipient’s requirement
Before opening a booking account, confirm the exact test your university, programme or authority accepts. PTE Academic is the usual study test; PTE Academic UKVI has the same format and scoring but adds a Secure English Language Test reference for specified UK visa routes. Core and Home serve other purposes. Check whether the recipient accepts the test variant and delivery mode, what overall and skill scores it requires, how recent the result must be and when it must receive the official score. A general statement that an institution accepts PTE is not enough to establish a course-specific rule.
Make a note of the application deadline and leave time for appointment availability, result release and score delivery. Pearson’s usual result estimate is two business days, although some results may take up to five; this is not a guarantee of admissions processing time. Ask the institution if its deadline is near and you may need a later score upload.
Register through Pearson or an authorized route
Use Pearson’s official website and myPTE account to find appointments. Pearson also permits booking through authorized agents; verify that an agent is currently authorized before sharing personal or payment information. Avoid unverified intermediaries that promise guaranteed slots, scores or admission. Use the official account to manage the appointment and retain the confirmation.
Choose the test purpose and variant carefully, then select the country, city, centre, date and time shown in the live booking flow. PTE Academic is currently centre-based. Review the time zone and exact centre address before checkout. Availability is dynamic, so do not treat a search result or an old schedule as a reserved place. A reservation is confirmed only when Pearson completes the booking and provides confirmation.
Match your booking to your identification
Pearson’s current identity policy requires booking details to match the identification presented at the centre. In particular, the name, date of birth, citizenship and gender details entered must match the accepted document. A valid original passport is commonly used, while country-specific alternatives and exceptions may apply. Check the current identification policy for the test location before booking; do not assume a photocopy, expired document or a different ID will be accepted.
Enter your name exactly as it appears on the accepted ID and review every detail before payment. If your name changed, your passport is being renewed or an ID field differs, contact Pearson before selecting a date. Do not wait until arrival to resolve a mismatch. Save a written support response if you receive an exception or correction instruction.
Review price and complete checkout
Pearson states that fees vary by country and directs candidates to the selected test and location. The official static fee page did not reveal a readable India amount during the 28 October 2026 source check. Because price and availability are live, review the total displayed in your own official booking flow, including the selected test, location and appointment. This guide does not quote a numeric fee or claim an effective date that was not verified.
Complete payment using the official checkout and confirm that the account shows the correct test, centre, date and candidate details. Keep the receipt and confirmation email. If a payment appears to have failed, check the account and payment status before attempting another charge; contact Pearson support with the transaction reference if the status is unclear.
Change, cancel or correct a booking
Pearson’s cancellation and rescheduling policy depends on how much notice remains and the options available in myPTE. Check the current policy before booking and again before making a change. Do not assume every cancellation is refundable or every appointment can be moved without a fee. Follow the account’s official steps, then save the resulting confirmation. If an identity detail needs correction, contact Pearson promptly and use its instructions rather than asking the centre to make an unconfirmed change.
After registration
Read the appointment instructions, including arrival time, accepted identification and centre requirements. Check the current format guidance so you know what to expect: the Academic test takes about two hours across three parts, and the 2025 update added two Speaking & Writing task types for tests after 7 August 2025. On test day, bring the required original document and follow the centre’s instructions.
After the test, monitor myPTE for the score report. Pearson says most results are available within two business days, but some can take up to five. Once available, use Pearson’s official score-sharing method and confirm the recipient’s preferred destination or account code. Keep a record that the score was sent. A screenshot may not satisfy a requirement for a verified report. Registration is complete only when the appointment is confirmed; the application is complete only when the receiving institution has the evidence it requires.
