AILET 2027 counselling dates, registration fees and round schedule have not been published as of 27 October 2026. NLU Delhi’s current B.A. LL.B. seat-matrix page says that it will notify the counselling process when it announces the AILET 2027 result. A candidate should therefore prepare for an invitation and keep documents ready, but must not treat a previous cycle’s fee, date or reporting rule as the 2027 instruction.
The current AILET 2027 seat matrix is the source for the present 2027-28 seats and says selected candidates will be notified by email and through the university website, with a stipulated acceptance period. The detailed AILET 2026-27 B.A. LL.B. counselling notification shows how the previous cycle worked. It is useful for understanding the kinds of tasks and deadlines that may follow a result, not as a substitute timetable for AILET 2027.
What is confirmed for AILET 2027
The current 2027 seat matrix lists 120 B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) seats: 110 on AILET merit and 10 in the Foreign National/OCI/PIO categories. For the 110 merit seats, it lists category-wise seats across General, OBC Non-Creamy Layer, SC, ST and EWS, with horizontal reservations also applying. Counselling invitation and merit are therefore category-sensitive. Do not interpret an overall rank alone as a promise of a counselling invitation or seat.
The 2027 seat matrix says counselling process details will be notified at result announcement. It also says candidates selected for admission will be told immediately through email and by posting the result on the university website. The offer will carry a stipulated time for completing admission; if a candidate misses it, the offer stands cancelled. The same procedure applies to wait-listed candidates. These are the current rules to watch. The exact invitation list, how many candidates are called, registration fee, document upload list, dates for merit lists and payment deadlines remain unpublished for this cycle.
AILET counselling is run by NLU Delhi for its own B.A. LL.B. admission. It is not a common law-school seat-allocation round. The official current page describes an online counselling process to be announced with the result. It does not currently describe a CLAT-style choice-filling or preference-locking process for AILET 2027. Candidates should follow the actual AILET invitation and avoid assuming that another examination’s counselling model applies.
How the previous cycle worked: AILET 2026-27
The 2026-27 notification gives a concrete, dated example. NLU Delhi declared the AILET 2026 B.A. LL.B. result on 18 December 2025 and scheduled counselling invitations from 19 December. It invited candidates category-wise for online counselling registration at approximately three candidates for each seat in the respective category. The registration window ran from 19 December 2025 at 6 pm to 27 December at 11 am.
The invitation was available in the candidate’s AILET account and was also sent by email/SMS. The university explicitly told candidates to check their login and said it would not take responsibility for undelivered messages. This is a useful practical lesson for the next cycle: check the official portal after the result even if no text or email arrives. It does not prove that AILET 2027 will use the same invite ratio or dates.
In 2026-27, the counselling registration fee was ₹30,000 for General candidates and ₹20,000 for ST/SC/OBC/EWS/PwD candidates. The notification required digital payment by the stated deadline and said late payment requests would not be accepted, including for transaction problems. Candidates were advised to wait for a “Payment Successful” message and acknowledgement. These amounts and conditions are historical 2026-27 values; the university has not announced a 2027-28 counselling fee.
Registration and payment did not guarantee a seat. The university said it would issue category-wise provisional merit lists only to candidates who completed registration and paid in time. In 2026-27, candidates who were provisionally selected from the first to third lists had to pay a ₹50,000 provisional admission confirmation fee in the stated window. The counselling fee and confirmation fee were adjusted against the total payable fee, with a separate deadline for the balance. Candidates selected from the fourth list onward were directed to pay the complete fee as specified in that cycle’s schedule. Missing the applicable deadline led to automatic cancellation of the provisional offer, without an extension.
The 2026 process also included later lists as vacancies arose. The notice said vacancies from withdrawal or non-payment would be filled from candidates in the concerned category who had registered, in merit order. This explains why the process can continue after an initial list, but it does not establish that there will be the same number of rounds or the same timing in 2027.
Invitation, registration and payment: candidate action sequence
When the AILET 2027 result appears, first read the result notice and open your registered AILET account. Check whether there is a counselling invitation, the category in which you are being considered, the registration opening and closing time, the amount due, the upload checklist and any declarations. The current seat matrix says the university will communicate selection through email and its website; the archived 2026 notice demonstrates that the account itself is important. Keep access to the registered email and mobile number you used for AILET.
If invited, complete each step within the live notice’s window. Register online, upload documents in the format and order requested, pay through the accepted digital method, and save the acknowledgement or receipt. Confirm that the payment is marked successful in the account. Do not rely on a bank debit alone as proof that counselling registration is complete. In the 2026 notification, the university would not consider late payments after the deadline, including where a candidate reported payment difficulty. Make the payment early enough to resolve a transaction issue before the close, and use the current helpdesk contact if a portal problem occurs.
Do not pay a counselling fee unless the official invitation applies to you and the current notice specifies the payment details. The 2026 amounts above should not be used to estimate or pre-pay for AILET 2027. The university’s current fee page and result notice, when issued, control the amount, refund terms and how any admission payment is adjusted.
Documents to prepare
The exact AILET 2027 counselling document list is not available yet. The 2026-27 B.A. LL.B. notification required candidates to upload a single self-attested PDF containing Class 12 qualification evidence, Class 10 marks statement, a character certificate, and applicable category certificates. The 2026 notice required a character certificate from the last attended institution issued within six months, and prescribed a qualifying-examination completion date in that cycle. It also required valid category certificates, issued in the candidate’s own name; original documents had to be produced at provisional admission. Those exact age-of-document rules and dates belonged to the 2026-27 intake and should not be assumed to carry into 2027-28.
For the current 2027 cycle, the seat matrix confirms that original category certificates are essential at provisional admission and says no provisional admission will be granted without required caste/category documents. It gives 2027-specific OBC NCL and EWS certificate issue-date rules. Keep your Class 10 and Class 12 records, character certificate, transfer certificate and original category proof accessible, then compare them with the 2027 counselling checklist when published. The current FAQ lists Class 10/12 marks statements, latest character certificate, transfer certificate and valid category certificate among admission documents. A candidate with pending Class 12 results should note that the qualifying cut-off for AILET 2027 will be announced with the result; the 2026 document deadline cannot be carried over.
How to interpret a merit list or wait-list position
A counselling invitation is permission to register, not an offer of admission. A provisional merit list is a separate step, and the university’s current seat-matrix page gives selected candidates a limited period to accept and complete admission. An applicant should distinguish their AILET score/rank, an invitation to counselling, a category-wise provisional selection, and a confirmed admission after documents and fees are completed. Each status has different consequences.
The 2026 result notice reports 22,532 candidates appeared for the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) paper. The 2026-27 counselling notice listed 110 AILET-merit seats. Dividing those numbers gives roughly 205 candidates who appeared per merit seat in that earlier cycle. This is only a broad scale comparison, not an admission probability or cut-off: applicants compete within category rules, not every candidate is eligible for every seat, and invitations, withdrawals and document checks shape the actual process. It should not be used to predict a 2027 rank.
If you are wait-listed, keep checking the same official account and the university website for revised lists and payment deadlines. The current 2027 seat-matrix page says the procedure also applies to wait-listed candidates. A place can become available only if the university offers it under its rules; do not make non-refundable travel or housing commitments based solely on a wait-list position.
Fees, refunds and withdrawal
Counselling fees can be substantial and must be treated separately from the application fee and tuition. In the 2026-27 process, counselling registration cost ₹30,000 or ₹20,000 by category. The university stated that it would refund the counselling fee to registered and paid candidates who did not secure a place in any provisional merit list due to higher cut-offs. It also held the counselling fee corresponding to 10% of sanctioned seats in each category until the admission process ended, with refund after 30 June 2026 or closure of admissions, whichever was later. Refunds were to the original payment source. These are precise terms from the previous cycle; do not assume the same amounts or refund schedule for 2027.
The 2026 notice said counselling and confirmation fees were adjusted against the total payable fee for provisionally selected candidates. A separate university admission announcement for that cycle also described treatment of counselling fees when a candidate exited or withdrew. For the next cycle, use the refund and withdrawal clauses in the current counselling notice before paying or accepting an offer. Keep proof of payment and the original payment method available until any refund is resolved.
Dates and the next reliable source
As of 27 October 2026, the AILET 2027 examination is scheduled for 13 December 2026, but the result date and counselling calendar have not been announced. Do not transfer the 2026-27 dates, fees or list schedule to the new admission cycle. The current AILET FAQ says the counselling process will be announced at result time, and the seat matrix says successful candidates will receive a stipulated period to complete admission.
The next useful action is to keep the AILET login and original documents ready, then check the official AILET portal and your registered email after the examination. Use the programme-specific 2027 counselling notice as soon as it is released. If the invitation is not visible or payment status is unclear, contact the helpdesk listed in the current notice before the deadline; an old helpline, fee amount or email instruction may no longer apply.
Frequently asked questions
Has AILET 2027 counselling registration started? No schedule or fee is published yet. NLU Delhi says it will notify the process when the AILET 2027 result is announced.
Does an AILET rank automatically give me a seat? No. Counselling invitation, category-wise provisional selection, document verification and timely payment are separate steps. Registration alone did not guarantee a seat in the 2026-27 notice.
How much was the previous counselling fee? For AILET 2026-27, it was ₹30,000 for General candidates and ₹20,000 for ST/SC/OBC/EWS/PwD candidates. The 2027-28 amount is not announced.
What documents should I keep ready? Keep Class 10 and Class 12 records, a recent character certificate, transfer certificate and applicable original category certificates ready. Use the 2027 counselling notice for the final upload format and cut-off dates.
Should I rely on an email invitation alone? Check your AILET login and the official website after results. In the previous cycle, the invitation was in the candidate login and NLU Delhi said undelivered email/SMS was not its responsibility.
