AILET 2027 registration is open for admission to NLU Delhi’s undergraduate law programme. The application deadline is 10 November 2026. If you intend to sit the exam on 13 December 2026, submit the form and complete payment well before the deadline; the university says incomplete applications are rejected and the application fee is non-refundable. Use the official application portal and keep the confirmation and application number.
Check that you are applying for the right route
AILET is NLU Delhi’s entrance examination. The 2027 application form covers more than one programme, including the five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. routes, so choose the programme that matches your intended degree. This page focuses on undergraduate applicants. The eligibility, paper, and counselling rules differ by programme; do not use an LL.M. instruction as a substitute for the B.A. LL.B. requirements.
For the undergraduate route, candidates who have passed Class XII or are appearing in the qualifying examination may apply, subject to meeting the notified eligibility by the applicable admission-stage deadline. The 2027 eligibility page sets aggregate thresholds of 45% for General candidates, 42% for OBC candidates, and 40% for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Candidates applying in the Foreign National category have a separate 65% threshold. Check the current eligibility rules before selecting a category. Applying is not confirmation of eligibility, and a candidate who does not ultimately satisfy the rule cannot rely on having received an application number.
Prepare your details and uploads first
The AILET 2027 application guidelines ask applicants to enter their name as it appears on the Class X certificate and to provide accurate contact information and category details. Use an email address and mobile number that you will retain through the examination and admission process. NLU Delhi says the registered email address cannot be changed. It functions as the user ID; if you forget your password, the portal’s recovery process uses an OTP.
The guidelines list a passport photograph and signature as uploads, each with a maximum file size of 1 MB, in JPEG or PNG format. They also identify supporting documents for applicable claims, including a PwD certificate and BPL documentation where relevant. Prepare clean scans and verify that the files are legible before starting. The application instructions are the authority for upload requirements and the current form may display additional field-level directions, so follow those if they are more specific.
Applicants select up to three test-city preferences. A preferred city is not guaranteed: the university’s FAQ says a centre is not created in a city with fewer than 200 applicants, and an applicant may consequently be assigned another city. Enter preferences carefully and plan for the possibility that travel will be required. Avoid booking non-refundable travel until the admit card confirms the allotted centre.
Submit and confirm payment
Complete every required field, review the programme and category selections, upload the requested files and pay through the portal’s available digital payment options. The application fee is ₹3,000 for most applicants and ₹1,000 for SC/ST/PwD applicants. The FAQ states that SC/ST women below the poverty line are exempt from the application fee; because this is a specific exemption, check the current form and eligibility conditions before relying on it. The application fee is non-refundable.
After submission, retain the application number and acknowledgment and save a copy of the submitted form for your records. The guidelines say the submitted application can be viewed after submission. A successful payment screen alone is not the only practical check: verify that the portal reflects the application as submitted or paid. If payment is acknowledged but the application status remains pending, the FAQ advises waiting 24 hours and then contacting [email protected] with the application number and relevant transaction details. For a duplicate transaction, the FAQ says the extra amount is automatically refunded in 7–15 working days. Keep the transaction reference until the status is resolved.
Corrections and mistakes
The FAQ says a correction window, if any, will be available for three days from the last date of application. As of 27 October 2026, the published deadline is 10 November, but the university has not specified in the cited FAQ which fields will be editable or the exact opening and closing times for that window. Treat the three-day period as a narrow opportunity, not as an extension of the deadline or permission to submit inaccurate information. The guidelines describe deleting and reapplying as a possible route when details are wrong; check the live portal’s instructions and fee consequences before using it, especially because fees are non-refundable.
The university does not require applicants to send hard copies of the application form or uploaded documents at the application stage. That does not remove the obligation to produce original or valid documents later if called for during admission. The guideline list for admission includes Class X and XII marksheets, a recent character certificate, transfer certificate and relevant category certificate. Applicants should check that names and category documents are consistent well before counselling.
Dates and next steps
For the 2027-28 admission cycle, the official FAQ lists applications from 7 August 2026 to 10 November 2026. The examination is scheduled for 13 December 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., in offline OMR mode. The admit card is scheduled to be available from 30 November 2026. These dates are current published plans; monitor NLU Delhi’s website for any formal change.
After applying, check the registered email and official portal for notices. The result and counselling schedule for the 2027-28 cycle have not been announced as of 27 October 2026. Do not infer them from last year’s dates. When a result is published, use the official result and counselling notices for the next actions and deadlines.
A final pre-submit checklist
Before you pay, confirm that you selected B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) if you are applying for the undergraduate law degree, entered the name and contact details accurately, chose the correct reservation or applicant category, uploaded files within the stated size and format, entered three realistic city preferences if available, and meet or expect to meet the eligibility criteria by the required stage. After payment, save the receipt and application number and check that the portal shows a completed submission. These steps reduce avoidable form problems; they do not affect the marks you can earn in AILET.
