There is no published AILET 2027 cutoff as of 27 October 2026. The examination is scheduled for 13 December 2026, and NLU Delhi has not yet issued the result or the 2027-28 counselling notice. Any number circulating as an “AILET 2027 cutoff” before those notices is an estimate, not a confirmed admission threshold. For a decision, compare your score and rank only with an official list that matches the programme, category and admission stage you are considering.
What people mean by an AILET cutoff
AILET discussions often mix three different measures: a minimum eligibility percentage in Class XII, a score estimate used by coaching or news sites, and the rank or candidate boundary at which NLU Delhi actually invites or admits applicants. They answer different questions. The eligibility percentage determines whether an applicant meets the academic qualification rule; it is not an exam-score cutoff. An unofficial predicted score is a forecast. A closing rank or last invited candidate in a particular official list is historical evidence about that specific admission round, not a promise for the next cycle.
For the 2027 B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) route, NLU Delhi’s published eligibility criteria require 45% aggregate marks in Class XII for General applicants, 42% for OBC candidates and 40% for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Foreign National applicants have a separate 65% requirement. These are qualifying-examination percentages, not AILET marks. Read the official eligibility page for the applicable applicant category and conditions. Meeting this requirement allows an eligible candidate to be considered; it does not establish that the candidate’s AILET rank will be high enough for a seat.
Why a single cutoff table can mislead
NLU Delhi’s B.A. LL.B. seat matrix lists 110 seats through the Indian applicants’ merit route and 10 seats for Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO, for 120 seats overall. Reservation categories and the separate foreign applicant route affect how seats are considered. A closing rank can therefore be meaningful only when its category or quota and the stage of admission are stated. An overall rank from one category cannot safely be compared with a category rank from another. A list of candidates invited to counselling also is not the same as the last rank that ultimately secured admission.
The university’s process uses result information, invitations and provisional merit lists. Candidates may receive an invitation to participate without having a final seat confirmed, and later lists can reflect seat availability and candidate decisions. The 2026-27 counselling notification is a historical example of that process. It gave the selected or invited candidates deadlines and document/payment steps, and later provisional lists were issued. This is why a “cutoff” should identify whether it means an invitation boundary, a provisional-list boundary or a final admitted candidate. If a third-party page leaves that out, treat its number cautiously.
What can be said from the prior cycle
The official AILET 2026 result notice reported 22,532 candidates appeared for the B.A. LL.B. paper. Compared with the 110 merit-route seats in the current published seat matrix, that is roughly 205 appeared candidates per merit-route seat (22,532 ÷ 110). This is a broad scale indicator only: it combines candidates across categories and does not account for all seat allocation rules, counselling invitations, withdrawals or the separate foreign route. It is not a personal admission probability and it cannot be used as a cutoff.
The official 2026 counselling materials show that NLU Delhi communicated with candidates through notices and subsequent provisional merit lists. They are useful for understanding that the process is staged and deadline-driven. They do not furnish a like-for-like 2027 closing score or rank in the currently available documents used here. Accordingly, this page does not reproduce a category-wise cutoff table from aggregator pages or infer one from an invitation ratio. A precise historical closing rank should be quoted only alongside the original official list, programme, category/quota, list number and whether it represents invitation or actual admission.
How to evaluate a cutoff claim
Before using a number in your planning, ask these questions:
- Which exam cycle? AILET 2025, 2026 and 2027 refer to separate admission cycles. A past score threshold should carry its year.
- Which programme? B.A. LL.B. and LL.M. have separate papers and admission paths. Do not transfer one programme’s threshold to another.
- Which rank field? Distinguish All India Rank, category rank and any list-specific position exactly as the source labels them.
- Which category or quota? Verify General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD, Foreign National and OCI/PIO scope where applicable. Do not mix the separate Foreign National/OCI/PIO seats into the Indian merit denominator without explaining the scope.
- Which admission stage? An invitation to counselling, a provisional merit list and an admitted candidate are not interchangeable outcomes.
- What does the original document actually say? Prefer the NLU Delhi result, counselling notice or merit-list PDF. If the source is an estimate, label it as a prediction and do not treat it as a rule.
These distinctions matter when deciding whether to accept an invitation, arrange documents or keep other applications active. A candidate whose rank is outside an early provisional list should check whether NLU Delhi has announced further lists, but should not assume that seats will move enough to reach that rank. Conversely, a predicted score range should not deter an otherwise eligible candidate from applying or sitting the exam.
For the 2027 cycle
The current exam pattern is 150 questions for 150 marks across English Language, Current Affairs and General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning, with a deduction of 0.25 for an incorrect response. The scoring rule helps a student understand the raw score; it does not provide a selection threshold. NLU Delhi has not announced a 2027 score cutoff, rank cutoff, counselling invitation threshold, or closing rank. The next reliable update will come through the official result and counselling announcements after the scheduled examination.
When those documents appear, record the number together with its exact labels and qualifiers rather than copying a bare “AILET cutoff” figure. If NLU Delhi publishes category-wise ranks or lists, compare the same category and stage across years. Even then, regard past movement as context rather than a guarantee because applicant performance, seat allocation and counselling participation can change.
Bottom line for applicants
Use eligibility rules to decide whether you can apply; use your scorecard and the official counselling list to assess the actual admission stage; use historical ranks only as context. Until the 2027 notices are published, there is no defensible AILET 2027 cutoff table. Keep the official seat matrix, result page and future counselling notice together when interpreting any rank, and continue backup applications until you hold a confirmed offer.
