CUET (UG) registration is completed through the National Testing Agency’s official application portal. For the 2026-27 cycle, NTA initially opened applications from 3 to 30 January 2026, set fee payment through 31 January, and later extended and reopened the process. The last reopened period ran from 23 to 26 February and had no correction facility after submission. These are historical 2026 dates; NTA has not announced the 2027-28 registration schedule in the official sources reviewed. For a new cycle, follow the current information bulletin and notices at cuet.nta.nic.in. NTA’s initial application notice · NTA’s reopening notice
Before opening the form
Decide which programmes you may apply to and check each institution’s required CUET subject combination. The NTA form captures candidate choices, but programme eligibility and accepted subject combinations are set by universities. Check those rules before selecting test papers. Also review the current bulletin for the maximum subjects, application fee structure, accepted identity details, photograph and signature specifications, and any candidate-specific instructions.
Prepare the details you will need to enter and verify them against original documents: candidate name and date of birth, contact information, Class 10 and 12 or equivalent information, category or disability details where applicable, and the selected subjects and languages. Use an email address and mobile number you can access throughout the process. Record login credentials securely. Avoid waiting until the final hours to upload files or complete payment, when an incorrect upload or transaction delay can be difficult to resolve before the deadline.
Complete the official application in stages
Use the current CUET UG portal reached from NTA’s official site. Register with the candidate’s own details, create and retain the application number and login credentials, and fill the application form carefully. Select the subjects, languages and examination choices that match your programme research and the current bulletin’s limits. Enter academic and category information as required, upload files in the published format, review the full form, and pay the applicable fee through an offered payment method.
After payment, confirm that the portal shows a successful transaction and that the application reaches its submitted or confirmation state. Download the confirmation page, fee receipt and submitted form. A payment debit from a bank account alone does not prove that the application has been successfully recorded. If the portal shows a pending status or an error, follow the official payment-help instructions and preserve the transaction reference. Do not make repeated payments without first checking portal status and the instructions for failed or duplicate transactions.
The 2026 bulletin included category-dependent application fees and charges based on the number of subjects selected. Do not rely on a fee copied from another year or an unofficial summary: open the fee table in the bulletin for your category and planned subject count. Examination fees are separate from any university application, counselling, admission or tuition charges.
2026 registration timeline and what changed
NTA’s 3 January 2026 notice initially listed applications from 3-30 January, payment through 31 January, and a correction window from 2-4 February. A later notice extended the submission deadline through 4 February and the fee window through 7 February. On 23 February, NTA reopened online form submission and fee payment through 26 February at 11:50 p.m. The notice said no correction facility would be available after submission during that special reopened period. The lesson is to follow the notice for the exact window in which you submit, not assume every period has the same correction rights. NTA’s 2026 application notice · NTA’s 23 February reopening notice
The 2026 timeline is closed and should not be reused as a 2027 timetable. NTA may set different opening and closing dates, fee arrangements, subject limits or correction procedures in a later cycle. Treat extensions and re-openings as cycle-specific. Do not delay a new application because you expect a similar extension.
Corrections and additional choices
Use a correction window only if NTA announces one for the relevant cycle and the field you need to change. Read the permitted-field list and instructions before editing. Some details may be locked, while others may require payment or a particular verification step. Save the corrected confirmation page. In 2026, the special February reopened period expressly lacked a correction facility after submission, so applicants who used it needed to ensure the form was accurate at that point.
NTA may issue separate notices about changing or adding subject choices, cities or examination preferences. These facilities can be limited by candidate status, fee payment, available slots and a stated deadline. Do not assume that a correction window allows every kind of change or that choosing a new option is free. Follow the relevant notice and check the updated confirmation or admit card after an approved change.
Common registration problems to prevent
- Paper choice does not match the course. Recheck each target programme’s paper combination and Class 12 conditions before final submission.
- Incorrect personal or academic detail. Compare the form against original records before paying, especially during a period with no correction facility.
- Upload rejected. Check file type, size, clarity and dimensions against the current bulletin; keep a clean, readable source image.
- Payment appears incomplete. Confirm the portal status and retain the payment reference; use the official help route for unresolved transactions.
- Confirmation page not saved. Download the submitted form and receipt immediately and store a backup copy.
- An extension is assumed to include all steps. Check submission, payment, correction and subject-change deadlines separately.
After submitting
Monitor the candidate portal and registered contact channels for correction notices, city intimation and admit-card updates. NTA’s 2026 information bulletin and later notices are the controlling sources for examination procedures. Keep the application number, confirmation page, receipt and any correction record available when contacting helpdesk. If a later notice changes your subject or city choices, confirm the change on the portal and download updated documents where instructed.
CUET registration does not replace a participating university’s application or counselling registration. After the examination and result, use each institution’s own admissions portal and observe its deadlines. A completed NTA form gives you access to the examination process; it is not an admission application for every programme.
Planning for 2027-28
No official 2027-28 CUET UG registration dates were present in the sources reviewed for this page as of 27 October 2026. When NTA publishes the next bulletin, verify the application portal, opening and closing times, fee table, subject-choice limit, correction rules, image requirements and payment procedure directly from that cycle’s official documents. Recheck university subject requirements too, because they may differ from the previous session.
