SNAP 2026 counselling and admission process
SNAP 2026 does not lead into one common national counselling round with a shared authority assigning all Symbiosis MBA seats. The official SIU process is institute-led and programme-specific after the test. SNAP is the common entrance step; the selected institute then shortlists candidates, conducts the further admission process and publishes its own merit and wait lists. The score is for selected MBA programmes in the 2027-28 academic session.
“Counselling” is often used broadly for everything after an entrance test. For SNAP, do not assume it means one central registration, choice-filling order or multi-institute seat-allocation schedule. The official overview directs candidates to check each institute for its GE-PI information and dates. It says the further process and shortlisting cutoff are separate for each programme.
Step 1: complete the right applications
Before the test, select each programme you intend to pursue, check that you meet its eligibility requirements and complete both parts of the application. SNAP test registration and programme registration use the official portal, but the fees are separate. The test fee is charged per selected test; a programme fee is required for each selected MBA. Pay before the relevant deadline and retain confirmation for each transaction. SNAP registration by itself does not apply you to every programme.
Choose programmes on the basis of fit and eligibility, not a predicted seat or cutoff. Several MBA options have additional academic or work-experience conditions. Confirm whether the campus and programme are right for you, and keep programme-specific deadlines and documents in your own tracker. The test score can only be considered in programmes for which you completed the required application.
Step 2: take SNAP and check the score
SNAP 2026 permits up to three attempts. If a candidate takes more than one, the highest score is used for the final percentile calculation. The result is scheduled for 12 January 2027. Download and retain the official scorecard. It is an important document for the further institute process. Keep the authenticated admit card too, because SIU says it is needed for subsequent selection.
A score alone is not an admission decision. The official overview says candidates are shortlisted for GE-PI based on overall SNAP percentile. The cutoff is calculated separately for each programme. You may receive a shortlist for one programme, several programmes or none; status for one institute does not automatically transfer to another.
Step 3: complete each programme’s GE-PI
If shortlisted, read the call letter and the institute’s admissions page for programme-specific dates, venue or online instructions, format and documents. A candidate shortlisted for multiple programmes may need to participate in the process for each one separately. The official overview says attending all required components of GE-PI is mandatory to remain eligible for the merit, wait or reject list. Missing a component can make you ineligible under the stated process.
Do not rely on a general internet timeline for the interview stage. The official SNAP overview does not give one shared GE-PI calendar for all programmes; it asks candidates to consult the respective institute. Make a separate record for every call letter, including reporting time, document requirements, fee payment conditions and contact details. If instructions differ between programmes, follow the specific programme’s official notice.
Step 4: read merit and wait lists by programme
The published final-merit framework gives 50 marks to the SNAP score scaled down from 60, 10 marks to Group Exercise and 40 marks to Personal Interaction, for 100 marks in total. SNAP is therefore only one part of the final calculation. Meeting a shortlist cutoff does not itself guarantee admission, and a high percentile cannot replace programme eligibility or required GE-PI participation.
Each institute displays category-wise cutoffs for its merit and wait lists. Wait-list movement depends on vacant seats. Read the list for the exact programme and category you applied to, check document or payment conditions and monitor later official notices. A wait-list position is a possibility governed by vacancies and the institute’s rules, not a confirmed seat.
The official overview says admission is provisional until the candidate pays fees by the due date and fulfils the programme’s eligibility conditions under SIU rules. Once an offer is made, follow the institute’s written instructions for acceptance, payment and reporting. SIU says no donation or capitation fee is required; do not pay a third party for a promised seat.
What the process does not establish
The published process is not described as a centralised counselling system with a common choice-filling window, round-wise seat-allocation algorithm or shared upgrade mechanism for all SNAP institutes. SIU describes separate shortlisting, GE-PI and merit or wait lists at institute and programme level. Where an institute uses additional admission steps or a specific offer-response method, its own notice controls.
As of 27 October 2026, the SNAP tests have not taken place, so current-cycle result-based shortlists, GE-PI dates, cutoffs and merit lists are not yet available. The tests are scheduled in December and the result in January. No future GE-PI date or cutoff should be guessed from an earlier admission cycle. After the current result, check the chosen institute directly for the latest process.
Candidate checklist after the result
- Download the SNAP 2026 scorecard and keep the authenticated admit card.
- Sign in to each selected programme’s official portal and check shortlist status.
- Read every GE-PI call letter and attend all required components.
- Track each programme’s category-wise merit or wait list separately.
- Confirm eligibility, documents, payment due date and reporting rules before accepting an offer.
- Watch official institute notices for wait-list changes; do not assume a vacancy or offer.
- Use official channels and make no donation or capitation payment.
This sequence applies to the SNAP 2026 test cycle for the 2027-28 intake. It should not be assumed to be the process for future SNAP years without a new official bulletin.
