SNAP 2026 pattern and the 2027-28 admission cycle
SNAP 2026 is the test cycle used for admission to selected Symbiosis International (Deemed University) programmes in academic year 2027-28. The official test-structure page describes a 60-question, 60-mark computer-based test with a 60-minute duration. The pattern below is specifically the published SNAP 2026 structure. It is not evidence that a later test year will use the same paper, dates or marking rules.
The test is objective, and the official instructions say each question has four response options. Each correct answer earns one mark; each wrong answer attracts a penalty of 25% of the mark, or 0.25 mark. The official page does not state a penalty for an unanswered question in the structure table, so do not assume a particular blank-answer rule without checking the current bulletin and test instructions. There is no benefit to treating the total score as the number of correct responses if incorrect answers also reduce it.
How to read the section mix
General English has 10 questions. Analytical & Logical Reasoning has 20, while Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency also has 20. Ethics, Morality and Values contributes 10. Reasoning and quantitative/data work together account for 40 of the 60 questions and marks, but the official table gives the section totals rather than a guaranteed allocation to individual chapters or skills. Use the section headings to plan balanced practice; do not infer that a subtopic will always appear in a fixed number of questions.
The test’s one-minute-per-question overall average can hide the very different work involved in a short verbal item, a multi-step reasoning problem and a data set. Use timed sets to find where you spend time and whether the delay comes from reading, selecting an approach, calculation or reconsidering an answer. Then practise the weakest step. A mock should contain all four official sections and reproduce the full 60-minute limit so that the small 10-question sections are not overlooked.
Three attempts and the score selected
For SNAP 2026, the Secretariat permits up to three tests. If a candidate takes more than one, the official structure page says the higher score is considered for the final percentile calculation. It also says there will be no normalization for candidates who take multiple tests. Separately, the page describes question papers across the three test dates as normalized for difficulty and question spread. These statements refer to different points: the administrator says a candidate’s higher attempt score is used, while the papers are designed to balance difficulty across dates. Do not turn that wording into a personal score-conversion formula; the official page does not publish one.
Three test opportunities can help a candidate choose whether to sit more than once, but booking all three is not automatically the best plan. Compare the date and preparation time available, allow for the 2026 registration fee for each test, and leave space for the programme applications and later selection process. The current registration page lists ₹2,550 plus applicable taxes per test; it separately charges ₹1,000 plus applicable taxes for each selected programme. These are cycle-specific fees, not part of the exam’s scoring pattern, and are included here only because the attempt decision affects the number of test registrations.
Current 2026 dates, delivery mode and admit cards
As of 27 October 2026, the official dates page lists SNAP 01 on 13 December, SNAP 02 on 19 December and SNAP 03 on 26 December. The registration and payment deadline is 25 November. Admit-card release is listed for 7 December, 11 December and 18 December respectively. The official page says the timings will be communicated on the relevant admit card. For the 2026 cycle, the current notice specifies computer-based testing. Check the live calendar and your own admit card for centre, reporting time and instructions; the Secretariat reserves the ability to change schedules or test arrangements in unavoidable circumstances.
A test-date choice affects when you sit the same published format, but the page does not promise identical questions. It says distinct question types are used across test forms and that question papers are normalised for difficulty and spread. Candidates should rely on the official notice and admit card rather than third-party reports about a particular day’s paper.
From SNAP score to programme selection
SNAP is an entrance test, not the entire admission decision. The official overview says candidates shortlisted for a programme move to that programme’s further admission process, including Group Exercise and Personal Interaction (GE-PI). It lists final-merit weights of 50 marks for SNAP score, 10 for GE and 40 for PI. Each institute conducts selection separately for each programme, and the programme cutoff is calculated separately. A strong SNAP result therefore does not guarantee a place, and the exam’s 60-point paper total is not the full final-merit score.
Use the test pattern to organise preparation and use each institute’s own current admissions page to check programme eligibility, application completion, shortlisting and GE-PI requirements. Registration for SNAP and selecting programmes are part of the portal process, but they do not remove the need to follow each programme’s application and selection instructions. Keep the authenticated admit card after the exam because the official test instructions say it is needed for later SIU admission processes.
A practical preparation loop
Start with a diagnostic paper under a strict 60-minute timer. Record attempts, correct answers, wrong answers and unanswered items by section. Since the wrong-answer penalty is one-quarter of a correct mark, review whether errors came from a misunderstood concept, a rushed read or an unsupported guess. Compare this with time left: low attempts with high accuracy may call for more timed practice, while many attempts with avoidable errors call for a slower decision process.
Build focused practice around the actual section totals. Give English a dedicated 10-question block; use separate 20-question sets for reasoning and quantitative/data work; include the 10-question Ethics, Morality and Values section in full mocks. After each set, classify errors and revisit the relevant concept before taking another mock. The official pattern specifies section names and counts, not a fixed chapter-wise syllabus distribution, so use the published headings without treating a coaching mock’s topic mix as an official blueprint.
If you plan multiple attempts, check the remaining official dates and the registration portal before paying. The currently published SNAP 2026 calendar ends with the 26 December test, while 2027 test dates and any changed pattern are not established by this 2026 notice. Recheck the official SNAP structure, dates, registration and bulletin pages before a future cycle and keep the test year separate from the admission academic year.
