SNAP 2026 eligibility: check the programme, not only the test
SNAP 2026 is the common entrance test for selected Symbiosis International (Deemed University) MBA programmes for the 2027-28 academic session. Eligibility to register for or sit the test is only one part of the decision. Each programme has its own entry criteria, and satisfying a broad graduation threshold does not automatically make an applicant eligible for every MBA on the SNAP list.
The official 2026 programme-eligibility page commonly lists a recognised bachelor’s degree, or a qualification from an Institution of National Importance, with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade. Many programme entries state a 45% threshold for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. This is a useful first screen, not a blanket rule that overrides an individual course’s conditions. Read the exact current entry for every programme and keep a copy of the requirement shown when you apply.
Programme exceptions that change the self-check
Several options attach additional requirements to a named programme. The current page gives examples that illustrate why a single “SNAP eligibility” summary can mislead:
These examples are not an exhaustive inventory of all conditions. Programme names and requirements can be updated, and a dual-degree option may require applicants to satisfy both SIU and partner-university criteria. For any work-experience condition, check the definition of qualifying experience, the date it must have been completed, and the evidence required. Do not count an internship or part-time role unless the official programme states that it qualifies.
The page also makes clear that category concessions are programme dependent. Although many entries show 45% for SC/ST candidates, do not infer the same relaxation for a programme whose entry states a different rule. SIMS, for example, lists a defence-category requirement. Check the current reservation policy and any domicile-specific provision separately from the academic eligibility criteria. Category eligibility, reserved seats and the marks threshold are related but distinct questions; documentation for one does not automatically establish the others.
Final-year, international and equivalent qualifications
Do not assume that appearing in a final-year examination has the same treatment in every programme. The Durham dual-degree entry expressly says final-year candidates may apply, subject to achieving the stated qualifying marks. Use that statement only for the named programme and confirm the current instructions for other programmes. If your degree result is pending, ask the relevant institute what proof and result deadline apply before selecting the programme.
For international qualifications, the official eligibility page specifically requires an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate for some listed dual-degree routes. It also states that foreign qualifications must be verified by the candidate before seeking admission to SIU for those routes. This is not a universal claim that every applicant with a foreign credential follows an identical process; identify the exact programme and degree-awarding institution, then confirm the relevant equivalence and partner requirements.
The SNAP test itself is not a substitute for a programme-level academic review. The exam result does not waive a degree subject requirement, work-experience condition, foreign-degree verification or category proof. If you fall near a minimum threshold, confirm how the institute interprets an equivalent grade, conversion to percentage and any rounding before paying a non-refundable fee.
A practical eligibility self-check
- Name the programme and campus. Use the current SNAP 2026 list, because SNAP applies to selected MBA programmes rather than every postgraduate course at Symbiosis.
- Match your qualification. Confirm that your bachelor’s degree or Institution of National Importance credential matches the programme’s stated qualification, subject background and recognition conditions.
- Check marks and category. Compare your final or expected result with the exact threshold. Apply an SC/ST relaxation only where that programme states it, and check the proof and reservation rules separately.
- Review extra conditions. Identify work experience, engineering or other subject-degree requirements, final-year rules, dual-degree criteria and partner-university conditions.
- Confirm documentary evidence. Ask the institute which certificates, transcripts, experience letters, category documents or equivalence certificates must be submitted, and by what date.
- Complete both registrations. Test registration and programme registration are separate payment obligations. Check each programme’s closing date and ensure your application is actually submitted.
There is no responsible way to guarantee eligibility from a test score alone. The official SNAP overview says the institute conducts a subsequent process for each programme, and final admission remains subject to programme eligibility and the institute’s rules. If a page appears inconsistent with your circumstances, seek a written clarification from the programme before submitting payment. Do not rely on an agent’s assurance or treat an older cycle’s eligibility page as current.
As checked on 27 October 2026, these are the requirements published for SNAP 2026 and the selected programmes linked to the 2027-28 intake. They should not be carried forward as the eligibility policy for SNAP 2027 or another future cycle without a new official confirmation.
