WBJEE-2027 counselling dates and rounds are not announced
As checked on 27 October 2026, WBJEEB had not published a 2027 counselling schedule. The latest completed cycle is WBJEE-2026. Its central counselling notice, dated 29 June 2026, described three rounds for Engineering, Technology and Architecture, followed by later notices about decentralised counselling and vacancies. These dates and procedures are specific to that cycle and should not be copied into a 2027 calendar.
Counselling is the process through which eligible candidates register or log in, submit programme and institute choices, receive an allotment according to rank and seat availability, and complete the required acceptance and reporting steps. The exact process depends on the current notice. WBJEEB conducts the examination, while the counselling portal and notices define the seat-allocation workflow. Institutions may later handle decentralised vacancy rounds under separate instructions.
Confirm the route that applies to your rank
Before starting, read the current counselling notice and identify which admission route applies. The 2026 official OR-CR portal included records for WBJEE seats and JEE Main seats. These routes have separate rank labels and cannot be treated as one pool. Use the rank type and eligibility criteria stated in the applicable notice, then check whether the intended programme and institute appear in the seat matrix for that route.
The 2026 central notice applied to Engineering, Technology and Architecture. Pharmacy admissions and other programme routes can have different criteria or processes. Do not infer that a candidate is eligible for every course because they have a WBJEE rank. Check the course-wise eligibility in the current bulletin and counselling notice before adding choices.
Prepare documents and choices before registration
Keep the current rank card, application confirmation, admit card, identity records and any category, domicile, disability or income certificates that the notice requires. Check issue dates, format and validity rules. A portal field accepting a category selection does not establish that the supporting certificate satisfies verification requirements. The allotted institute or authority may check documents before confirming admission.
Build a choice list from the current seat matrix, programme eligibility, realistic location and course preferences. Review institute names and branch names carefully; similar labels can refer to different programmes. List choices in genuine preference order according to the live rules. Before locking, verify the sequence and save the final acknowledgement. Do not rely only on a screenshot of choices if the portal provides a confirmation receipt.
Cutoff data can help identify options to research, but a past closing rank is not a promise of a seat. Match the comparison to the same programme, quota, category, round and admission route. The 2026 OR-CR portal presents opening and closing ranks; preserve the row labels when using those figures. The next cycle’s available seats and candidate preferences may differ.
Follow each round’s rules and deadlines
The central counselling sequence can include registration, choice filling, allotment, acceptance or fee payment, and reporting or document verification. The 2026 process used three online rounds, but the 2027 number, order, dates, payment rules, upgrade options and withdrawal conditions were not published by 27 October. Use the current round schedule and do not assume that an earlier year’s workflow remains identical.
For each round, note the opening and closing time for registration and choices, the allotment publication time, the payment deadline and the reporting window. Deadlines are distinct. Missing a choice lock deadline can prevent a desired list from being considered, while missing an acceptance or reporting deadline may affect an allotment. Read the consequence described in the notice rather than relying on general counselling advice.
After an allotment, check the institute, programme, category and reporting instructions shown in the candidate login. Pay only through the official portal and retain the receipt. If the candidate accepts, upgrades, withdraws or participates in a later round, follow the exact current rules. Do not assume that an earlier acceptance automatically carries forward or that a seat remains reserved without completing the required action.
Central and decentralised counselling are different stages
The 2026 central counselling notice described three online rounds. A later WBJEEB notice addressed decentralised counselling for vacant seats at institutions. The seat pool and process in a decentralised round can be institution-specific, so its notice must be read separately from central allotment instructions. An earlier OR-CR range from a central round should not be presented as the closing rank for a later vacancy round.
When an institution conducts a permitted vacancy process, verify the official notice, eligibility, schedule, documents, fees and how applications are submitted. Contact details should come from the institution’s official site or the Board notice. Avoid paying an intermediary or treating an informal message as a confirmed allotment. A seat is confirmed only through the official process and required documentation.
Track the official update trail
WBJEEB’s current-events page publishes notices that may change a schedule or explain a later phase. Check it alongside the counselling portal during the active cycle. Save revised notices and confirm which version is latest. An older PDF can remain online after a deadline changes, so compare its date and any corrigendum before acting.
The 2026 sequence provides historical context: result notice in June, central counselling notice on 29 June, and decentralised vacancy notices later in the cycle. No 2027 dates or round count were announced by 27 October 2026. Once the next notice appears, replace this historical planning context with the current schedule, seat matrix and route-specific rules.
After a seat is allotted
Follow the current instructions for payment, reporting and verification. Prepare originals and copies only as requested, and keep acknowledgements for each completed step. Ask the institute for written clarification if a document discrepancy arises. Do not assume that an allotment alone completes admission; the candidate must satisfy the applicable eligibility and reporting conditions by the stated deadline.
If no desired seat is allotted, check whether the current rules allow another round, choice changes, upgrades or a decentralised vacancy process. A candidate should evaluate those options against actual published vacancies, travel, programme fit and fee obligations. Past practice can explain why a later notice may appear, but only the current year’s official notice establishes that the process is available.
Keep a deadline and status log
Record each required action with its official notice link, deadline, portal status and acknowledgement number. Check the candidate login after payment or choice submission to confirm that the action registered. If a page remains pending, save the transaction receipt and contact the stated support channel before the deadline. A successful bank transaction and a completed counselling step are not always the same status in the portal, so confirm both before assuming the action is finished.
The candidate should also note whether an allotment is provisional or final and what action preserves it. Read any instructions about seat acceptance, upgrades or withdrawal before paying. If the rules are unclear, seek written clarification from the authority or institute named in the notice. This avoids relying on a general counselling explanation where the consequence depends on the specific round.
