Eligibility to be a Radiographer

To become a radiographer, the candidate must have passed 12th with science subjects from a recognized university or institute and must have a diploma course of two years in the field of Radio Diagnosis Technology or Medikan Radiation Technology. Bachelor’s degree in radiography is sought in some organizations.

Age limit for a radiographer

To become a radiographer, it is important that the candidate is between 18 years and 27 years old. However, in some institutes, the maximum age limit is 30 years with prior work experience. Reserved category candidates are given maximum age limit as per rules of government.

Selection Process for Radiographer

Candidates are usually selected on the basis of academic records and interviews in the position of the radiographer. However, if more applications are received according to vacancies, then the concerned institution can also conduct written exam for shortlisting of candidates.

Government jobs in Radiography

The post of the radiographer is there under the hospitals run by the health departments of the state government (eg, AIIMS, ESIC, etc.), medical education institutions, hospitals under the Ministry of Defense, Railway, some public sector undertakings (NPCIL), etc. Therefore, vacancies for this post from time to time come from these institutions. Career prospects in Radiography

There are good prospects of radiography in India. After doing the course of radiology you can get a job in Government and Private hospitals, Nursing homes, Clinics, Military service, Education institutions, and Research laboratory.

According to the Sixth Pay Commission on the rank of a radiographer, Rs. 5,200-20,200 salary is given. If the appointment is done on a contract basis, then the radiographer will get Rs. Payments of about 25,000-30,000 per month. At the same time, the pay scale in the departments and institutions of the State Governments is given at the equivalent level of the respective state in accordance with the prescribed scale of pay, which is different according to the state. (Generally between Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 45,000 Gross)
