Which route should you use?
NIT Durgapur has no single application route covering every programme. For a 2027-28 applicant, the first task is to identify the programme and follow its designated national counselling or institute notice. As of 1 November 2026, the institute’s latest admissions page lists 2026 notices and results; it does not establish 2027-28 eligibility, dates or application links. Treat the cycle details below as evidence from the named 2026 intake, not as a forecast.
The 2026-28 MBA notice is more specific than the Department of Management Studies overview: the overview gives a general 50% threshold and CAT-based shortlisting, while the cycle notice names accepted score years, category thresholds and weighted selection components. For that intake, use the cycle-specific notice for application decisions. The 2026-28 MSW notice provides its own test and selection rules.
What to do before applying
- Match the programme to its admission authority. B.Tech applicants should track JoSAA/CSAB and the relevant international channel if applicable. M.Tech and M.Sc applicants should check CCMT or CCMN allotment status. MBA, MSW, PhD and institute-specific sponsored routes require the relevant NIT Durgapur notice.
- Use the current-cycle notice as the controlling checklist. Confirm the programme, category, accepted exam year, eligibility calculation, application deadline, fee payment method and selection stages. Do not reuse a prior-year score or certificate rule unless the new notice repeats it.
- Prepare documents only against that notice. The 2026 UG enrolment notice requested the allotment or offer letter, JEE Main score card, qualifying-exam records, identity and category/income certificates where applicable, and other signed forms. The 2026 PG enrolment notice separately specifies documents for CCMT/CCMN and institute-route candidates.
- Complete both counselling and institute enrolment when required. A 2026 JoSAA/CSAB allotment was followed by NIT Durgapur’s online enrolment and document upload. Follow the institute’s payment and reporting instructions after allotment; a counselling allotment alone was not the final enrolment step in that notice.
- Check for a later notice or revised schedule. The 2026 MBA and MSW documents included dates later marked tentative or to be notified, and the institute published subsequent spot-round and admission notices. Recheck the official Admission 2026 page and the responsible counselling portal rather than relying on an old calendar.
What is known for 2027-28?
The sources reviewed for this page do not establish NIT Durgapur’s 2027-28 application dates, accepted score years, selection weights, seat matrix or programme-specific eligibility. No 2027 notice should be inferred from the 2026 MBA, MSW, UG or PG calendars. Applicants can use the 2026 material to understand which authority handled each route, then replace every cycle-bound detail with the next official notice when published.
For current-cycle questions, use the contact named in the relevant notice. The institute lists separate contacts for MBA, MSW and PG enrolment; a general query should include the programme and the notice reference so it reaches the right office.
Keep the evidence cycle-specific
A score accepted for one intake is not automatically valid for the next. The 2026-28 MBA notice explicitly tied eligibility to named exam sittings, so a 2027 applicant should wait for the new notice before deciding whether a 2026 score remains acceptable. Likewise, the MBA and MSW deadlines above have passed; they explain the format of the 2026 selection process, not an open application window.
For UG, the 2026 notice describes institute enrolment after JoSAA/CSAB allotment and calls for the final provisional allotment letter, JEE Main score card, Class 12 records, category certificate where applicable, income certificate for relevant fee categories, medical certificate and signed undertakings. This is a preparation guide for that cycle only. The notice asks candidates to upload documents during the institute process and says hostel reporting and class start are separately scheduled. A 2027 candidate should use the new enrolment notice for the exact list, file formats and dates.
The 2026-27 PG instructions also separate the enrolment identifiers: GATE registration number for CCMT M.Tech candidates and JAM registration number for CCMN M.Sc candidates, while other applicants receive an ID by email. They call for online document entry followed by physical reporting and original-document verification. This illustrates why the counselling authority and institute enrolment checklist should both be checked; it does not set the 2027 procedure.
