NIT Durgapur publishes separate schedules for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The latest sheets located for this review are dated 2 March 2026 and cover the 2026-27 admission year. Their totals are semester-specific, not a single all-inclusive degree price. Applicants should match the exact degree and semester, apply any documented tuition remission, and add later charges only when the institute's current notice requires them.
The institute's undergraduate fee order lists separate first-semester and second-to-eighth-semester columns for B.Tech/dual degree and integrated M.Sc. The first-semester listed total is ₹1,11,100 for B.Tech/dual degree and ₹56,100 for integrated M.Sc. For semesters two through eight, the listed total is ₹90,600 and ₹35,600 respectively. The order describes these as amounts for each semester, so multiplying one semester figure by the full degree duration would be misleading: the initial semester has additional admission and establishment charges, while the later-semester schedule differs.
The postgraduate schedule is also split by programme and semester. The 2026-27 PG fee order lists first-semester totals of ₹56,100 for two-year M.Sc/MSW, ₹83,600 for M.Tech and ₹86,100 for MBA. The second-to-fourth-semester totals are ₹35,600, ₹63,100 and ₹65,600 respectively. These are the amounts printed in the order, not a guarantee of a programme's complete cost: the schedule includes recurring and one-time line items and states that the structure is subject to change under the competent authority.
The UG sheet lists a semester tuition line of ₹62,500 for B.Tech/dual degree and ₹7,500 for integrated M.Sc. The PG sheet lists ₹35,000 for M.Tech, ₹7,500 for M.Sc/MSW and ₹37,500 for MBA. Those tuition lines are not the total payable amounts. The first-semester totals also include admission fee, institute caution money, convocation fee, alumni activity fee and other listed charges; subsequent terms retain recurring items but omit some first-term charges. For example, the UG schedule includes hostel seat rent of ₹10,000 in each semester column and a hostel establishment charge of ₹1,500, while mess charges are shown as “as applicable.” A student living off campus should not assume the hostel line applies, and a student in a hostel should not treat the printed total as including a fixed mess bill.
Both orders state that tuition is fully waived for SC/ST/PwD students. The UG order further says tuition is two-thirds waived for students with annual family income between ₹1 lakh and ₹5 lakh. The remaining one-third of the listed tuition is therefore still relevant in that income band; remission does not remove the non-tuition fees in the table. The PG order states a full tuition waiver for SC/ST students but does not state the same income-band remission in the visible schedule. Do not transfer the UG income rules to a postgraduate programme.
The effect of remission depends on which programme's tuition line applies. For illustration, the listed UG B.Tech/dual-degree tuition is ₹62,500 each semester, while the M.Sc line is ₹7,500. A two-thirds waiver changes the tuition component, not the full semester total. The orders do not provide a single net payable amount for every combination of programme, category, income certificate, residence and semester, so applicants should confirm the assessment on their own admission portal and with the institute's fee office before paying.
The sheets distinguish fixed listed charges from items that vary or are assessed separately. Mess is “as applicable,” and the visible schedule does not give a universal meal cost. It also does not establish the total cost of books, travel, personal expenses, deposits outside the listed caution money, or the full amount over a programme's complete duration. Do not add these unknowns to the printed semester totals as though the institute had quoted them.
For 2026 domestic B.Tech, dual-degree and integrated M.Sc enrolment, the institute's UG admission notice provides an admission-stage payment table by category and family-income band. That initial payment is tied to enrolment after JoSAA/CSAB allotment; it is not a replacement for the detailed fee order or a total tuition quotation. Follow the payment schedule in the notice for the correct allotment route and candidate category. The notice's 2026 process does not establish 2027-28 payment amounts or rules.
The official fees page and cycle-specific admission notices are the appropriate places to check for revised schedules. The institute's programme catalogue can help verify which degree names are currently offered, but course duration and fee treatment must be matched against the relevant admission-year order. The sheets reviewed here are historical 2026-27 schedules. They do not establish the fees for a future 2027-28 intake. Before making a payment, confirm that a later order has not superseded the March 2026 sheet, check whether the student's category and income documents are accepted for remission, and ask whether accommodation and mess charges apply to the individual allotment.
For a practical comparison, keep four amounts separate: tuition, other institute charges, accommodation, and mess or personal expenses. Compare the same programme duration and same term at each institution. For NIT Durgapur, use the first-semester total when budgeting for entry, then use the later-semester figure for subsequent terms, while keeping “as applicable” items outside the fixed subtotal. Apply remission only to tuition, and keep the supporting category or income condition beside the calculation. A headline annual figure can hide the higher first-term charges or the difference between B.Tech and integrated M.Sc.
The March 2026 orders include amounts in rupees and are identified as approved by the competent authority. They remain subject to change. Where the portal-generated demand differs from the published schedule, the current institute demand and any revised official notice should be checked with the fee office before payment; this page cannot resolve an individual account assessment.
