CMAT dates: follow the latest official notice
As of 27 October 2026, NTA’s CMAT portal displays the 2026 cycle as its latest published examination cycle. It does not provide a CMAT-2027 timetable. A reliable 2027 exam date, registration opening, application deadline, correction window, city-intimation release, admit-card date, answer-key window or result date cannot yet be stated. Treat future dates circulating without an NTA notice as unconfirmed. Once NTA publishes the next bulletin, use later public notices and corrigenda to update any date the bulletin changes.
The milestones below are historical CMAT-2026 dates. They help explain the order of candidate tasks but are not a forecast or promise that the next cycle will follow the same calendar.
The original application deadline was later extended by NTA, so the date in the first information bulletin was not the final deadline for that cycle. The correction schedule and payment deadline also belong to the 2026 bulletin; check the relevant extension and correction notices rather than copying a date from a calendar graphic. For each milestone, the controlling record is the latest notice on NTA’s site, not a coaching page or prior-year timeline.
Why the schedule is a chain, not one date
Applicants often search for the exam date and overlook tasks before and after the test. The timeline is a linked sequence: registration creates an application number; completing the form and payment produces a confirmation page; NTA may provide a correction window; city information appears before the admit card; the admit card sets reporting and shift details; the exam is followed by response and provisional-key access; challenges close; and the final result follows after NTA processes that stage. A missed task can affect what the applicant can do next even if the exam date has not changed.
Build a personal tracker around operational deadlines. Record the date, time, official notice URL, whether the action is complete and what proof you saved. For payment, distinguish the last date to submit the form from the last date to complete the transaction. For corrections, note which fields can change and whether an additional fee applies. For an admit card, separately track city intimation: NTA has said a city-intimation slip is not the admit card. For answer-key challenges, save the response record before the challenge window closes and follow the official procedure.
Reading date changes correctly
A notice that extends a deadline supersedes the earlier deadline only for the activity it names. It does not automatically extend fee payment, the correction period or every later milestone. A schedule notice that fixes an exam date does not establish a result date unless it states one. Record each update against the correct milestone rather than replacing the whole calendar with a single headline.
The 2026 cycle illustrates this distinction. The bulletin showed initial application and payment dates. NTA later issued a separate extension notice, then published a schedule notice and later notices for city intimation, admit cards, answer-key challenges and results. This is why the bulletin is the baseline rather than the final word. A later cycle may include revised dates, a reopened form or a changed payment deadline. Check the latest official notice before making travel or application plans.
Prepare before registration opens
Before an application window opens, gather the information and documents requested in the current bulletin. Create a private folder for identity and education records, category or disability certificates if relevant, photograph and signature files, payment receipts and the final confirmation page. Check that the email and mobile number you use remain accessible. The 2026 bulletin warned that incorrect contact information can disrupt communications and that many submitted details are not editable after submission.
When the new bulletin appears, read its “Important Information at a Glance” first, then check the detailed chapters on eligibility, reservation, exam-city selection, correction policy, admit-card instructions, answer-key challenges and result rules. Compare the new bulletin with 2026 only to identify changes; never assume an old date has rolled forward. If NTA posts a correction or extension, use the dated notice and preserve a copy. If a date is absent, treat it as not announced instead of estimating it from the previous year.
After the score is released, NTA dates no longer control the next decision. CMAT has no central NTA counselling calendar. Each participating institution runs its own application, shortlist and selection timetable. A college may close its application before or after the result, so investigate target institutions independently and do not wait for an NTA counselling notice that the agency does not run. For the 2026 score, NTA declared results on 17 February; the admissions process was institution-led.
Verify every milestone
Use the NTA CMAT home page and its notices archive to verify new dates. Open the notice and confirm the exam year in its title, the action it covers, the deadline including time, and any later amendment. The 2026 information bulletin remains useful for process details, but its calendar is historical. Until an official CMAT-2027 notice appears, the next cycle’s dates remain unannounced.
