CMAT result: use the official scorecard
NTA declared CMAT-2026 scores on 17 February 2026. The result was made available through the official CMAT portal. NTA reported 53,453 candidates registered and 41,872 appeared, an attendance rate of 78.33%. These are outcomes for the 2026 exam only. They do not describe a future cycle or an individual college’s admission pool.
When a future result is announced, use the official portal and download the scorecard directly. Save the PDF and a secure backup. Check your identifying details and each score field shown; if an official notice provides a help or grievance process, follow its time limit and required evidence. Do not rely on screenshots shared by another candidate or an unofficial score calculator as your official result.
Marks and percentile are different
NTA’s 2026 bulletin defines percentile as the percentage of candidates scoring equal to or below a candidate. It is a relative position, not the percentage of marks earned. A percentile and raw score therefore answer different questions. Do not turn percentile into a mark percentage, compare an overall percentile directly with a section score, or assume an institution uses the same metric displayed in every source.
The 2026 paper used a +4 / −1 / 0 marking scheme for correct, incorrect and unattempted answers. The final score should be read from NTA’s scorecard after its key process, not estimated by counting answers against a provisional key. NTA allowed challenges to provisional answer keys and considered them before preparing results. Keep any response sheet and challenge receipt if you used that process.
The bulletin’s normalization appendix explains percentile scoring for multi-session papers. NTA’s result notice reports that CMAT-2026 was conducted in a single shift. Use the result record for that actual cycle rather than applying a multi-session example as if it described the specific result. A future cycle may have different arrangements, so read its bulletin and result notice.
What the result does not decide
A CMAT score does not create a college application or guarantee an offer. NTA does not conduct management admission counselling. Candidates apply to institutions separately, and institutions set their own score cutoffs and selection methods. After results, identify programmes that accept your score year, then track applications, shortlist decisions, interviews, document checks and offers.
Read each college’s cutoff carefully. It may refer to application eligibility, a shortlist threshold or a prior year’s closing score. Confirm whether the institution reports marks, percentile or a composite score and whether a category, campus or programme is specified. A scorecard can support comparison, but it cannot predict a final decision without those rules.
If you think something is wrong
The 2026 bulletin describes a provisional answer-key challenge stage before results and says candidates should use NTA’s published procedure. That stage is different from asking for a post-result re-evaluation. The bulletin states that the result is not generally rechecked on request. For a future cycle, check the current bulletin for challenge steps, fees, dates and rules; do not wait until after results if the challenge window is open.
If an identity or scorecard detail appears incorrect, read the current result notice and use its stated contact route. Keep the application number and relevant screenshots or downloaded documents ready, but do not disclose credentials publicly. A helpdesk request should state the issue, cycle and action you have already taken.
After downloading your score
Make a programme list and confirm that each college accepts the CMAT year shown on your card. Submit separate applications and save each acknowledgement. Compare total cost and programme evidence, not just the cutoff. Where a school publishes a placement report, check the correct programme and cohort, and distinguish median from average and salary from cost-to-company. If information is missing, ask the institution rather than copying a number from a different course or year.
The 2026 result date is historical and NTA had announced no 2027 result date by 27 October 2026. Check the official CMAT portal for the next notice. Do not infer a result date from a prior year or treat an unofficial countdown as confirmation.
